I like how each antman has his own ability with the suit like hank has the scientist brain/knowledge Scott has the thief tricks and Ogrady has some form of shield training.
You should do a History of the Suicide Squad! I'm pretty sure a lot of people are interested with the movie coming out, and some reading recommendations would be amazing!
Can we get a History of Dr Doom? :D Hands down one of my favorite "Villains" and would love some reading recommendations (old AND new please, though more new/recent stuff is preferable! ;D) But yes he's a super interesting character and would love you to really go into detail about his history and origins!
TopHatCat I do agree although he might wait til it is closer to the release date of fantastic four (I don't know if that movie has Dr. Doom but he is a major enemy in that series) but that's just my thought.
Austin Jasay Sorry but that, "thing", is not Dr. Doom... just like the last movie, some bullshit alien virus metal super power mutation crap or whatever x.x ugh, couldn't be further from his true origin xD (But yes a character NAMED Doom is in the movie, it's certainly not him though :P Haha)
Hank Pym is without a doubt the most interesting of the Ants. I feel the Marvel cinematics lost out, when they chose Lang instead. With Pym they could have told everything from comedy to romance to dark tales of mental disorders along with have a super genius around.
Hank Pym's still better than Scott Lang, he should've gotten his own movie, at least first. EDIT: I changed my mind about Hank having his own movie first. What i STILL wouldve loved for them to do was showcase his intelligence more. Guy who created Ultron? Pym particles? Explored the microverse AND the macroverse? Became so neurotic from the trauma and multiple identities to the point it destroyed his relationships? An underappreciated sage of his time? A one-time anti-hero? They could've made him the Walter White of the MCU if they wanted to.
William McCarty I'm sure he will do one before then, probably before captain america civil war, since he will be in the movie. I'm sure he will do things different this time.
Honestly, I wish people who says Ant-Man is silly, read some post-Ultron stories featuring Hank Pym, and you will discover an incredibly complex character.
Could you please do a history of Starro? Recently in the batgirl dlc of arkham knight, there's an Easter egg and you can actually find him in a container. Don't know much about the character, and would appreciate if u did a vid :)
***** starro will probably become your favorite villain do your own research, its worth a look. Personally there isnt enough starro brave and bold did it well though.
According to the author of the story the scene where Hank slaps Jan was not what he wrote. The way he originally wrote the scene was that Hank was supposed to throw up is hands in frustration and accidentally hit her. The artist, interpreted the description of the scene differently and thus we have the infamous slap.
As much as I try to get excited for Ant-Man and the upcoming movie, I just can't. Sure he has powers and is actually important to the Avengers and the Marvel comic (and skin to be cinematic) universe, but I just came get interested in a guy who can... change size. I know it's not that simple, but still. Ant-Man just seems rather lackluster in comparison to most fictional characters I admire (comics and otherwise). Would it be too terrible if I skipped out on this film?
I agree with you man...i cant take him seriously. He is not even relateable and his naaame, "ant man" dont like it at all. I will be skipping this movie too, i will proply watch it when its on tv
my first encounter with antman was in AEMH, i adored that cartoon and antman was integral part of it. i really like his portrayal and when i heard they were making an antman movie i thought they will go with much younger hank pym but the one thing that stuck with me is the fact that he is a pacifist, he doest like violence nor fighting, he was only interested in science and i loved that about him. i dont know if that's true to his comic book counterpart but that is what i love the most about antman. very excited to see the movie which looks awesome, its marvel after all and scott lang version of antman is pretty cool even though hank pym is ANTMAN to me.
Speaking on that intro, I have actually written a rough draft of a Spider-Man story about a alternate universe Peter before the death of Ben, the twist is that Ben is only about 35 and peter is 16 as Ben is about to be killed peter jumps in front of the bullet. Later Ben visits Oscorp to pick up stuff that belonged to peter. While there the spider bites him and he becomes Spider-Man. There was much more to the story but, I thought that intro was funny. Before anyone says it, it is a bit inspired by the earth 3145 universe, where Ben has powers.
I think it is worth mentioning that For a while Hank Pym could not use his powers to change his own size without bring his cancer out of remission however he could and did operate as a quasi hero in the west coast avengers at this time. He could use pym particle on objects safely so he caries around among other things a bat, flying camera drone (80's style), a personalized ant styled flying craft with built in a.i., and even a fusion generator all of witch are shrunk down to fit in his cargo pockets. It was in this role that he helped found the west coast branch of avengers.
Nah superman would and should stomp goku every single time they fought.... BUT screwattack will let Goku win just to appease his fans. They ll make up some BS excuse to why he wins.. count on it
Ralph Palantine Goku is way more powerful. And clearly by my choice of name and picture on here, I'm a DC fan. Just objevtively, Goku is way way stronger.
I know he beat him already.. im talking about the rematch. And no goku isnt more powerful read a comic. Also its worth noting that they are arguably using the strongest version of goku ( super sayian god ) vs arguably the weakest version of superman ( nu 52 ) Thats how you know they are going to let goku win off some bs. If they are using super sayian god why not use superman prime one million to make it fair? O yeah its because superman would straight up murder goku in 1 shot
Silly fangirls, New 52 Supes doesn't stand a chance against current Goku. At the end of Dragon Ball Z he killed a being that could literally destroy the entire universe. N52 Superman is an insect compared to SSGSS Goku.
Well duh they are using gokus greatest form againsr one of supermans weakest... thats the only way goku has a shot.. they just want goku to win to appease his fanboys like yourself.. why not use supermans equal form superman prime in million? Oyeah its because superman would MURDER goku in 2 seconds
Look, kids, I like DC more than I like the Dragon Ball franchise. But they are using the current versions of each character. If N52 Superman was Superman Prime I would be all for them using Prime v SSGSS.
Hank Pym should've been the cinematic Ant-Man(and Giant-Man), NOT Scott Lang! If you're doing an Avengers-based cinematic universe, you use Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne(the Wasp) because THEY are the actual Avengers! Edgar Wright should've stayed in the U.K. making zombie movies and stayed away from comic books.
Edgar wright isn't even behind the movie anymore plus the avengers already came out and Antman wasn't a part of the team so kind of missed that as well in addition Hank pym has a history of mental problems so that's why they are focusing on Scott
In the movie they explained he was working with shield before the avengers were created so it wouldn't make sense with previous Marvel movies unless they heavily altered Hanks past. Plus Scott is more heroic in a sense since heroic in a sense than Hank is cause his mental issues which wouldn't be very suitable for younger viewers. Overall Scott is the more obvious and safe choice.
Chad Tremblay No, how about YOU deal with the fact that Marvel made a stupid mistake in using Edgar Wright's version of Ant-Man instead of one that would be more compatible with the Avengers universe? How about YOU deal with the fact that Edgar Wright never wanted his Ant-Man to have anything to do with the damn MCU, and he only ended up quitting, and Kevin Feige himself admitted that the script "just wasn't working"? How about YOU deal with the fact that all of the other characters in the Avengers and MCU conform to their 616 origins, so yor "alternate reality" argument is bullshit? How about YOU deal with the fact that the rules of proper storytelling dictate that a script is supposed to focus on what is relevant to the story and eliminate what is not relevant, and that Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne are relevant and essential to the Avengers storyline while Scott Lang and the non-existent Hope character are irrelevant? How about YOU deal with the fact that Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne deserved to be represented on screen with their fellow Avengers and earned the right to be in the MCU? How about YOU deal with the fact that movies are not supposed to be some fucking "alternate reality," but are in fact an extension of the canonical source material to the big screen, and that movies that stay close to the source material are usually the better ones while the movies that stray from the source material usually suck? Remember Fantastic Four? And how about YOU deal with the fact that you're talking to an comics and movies expert who knows how this material is best translated to the screen, instead of blindly forgiving Marvel Studios for every single fuck-up they make?
The staring contest you had at the end, actually a tiny bit surprised me dos it was so unexpected, anyway I lasted til 11:35 and great video. can't wait for Ant man, seeing it on Sunday.
I know you get a lot of History Of requests but could you do Super-Girl and/or Power-Girl. I knew nothing about Power-Girl when I saw her in LEGO batman 3. And got confused when I heard about her origin and standing in the New 52
The reason for hank hitting janet was that (and i hope i'm remembering this right) he was going through one of his breakdowns, janet tried to calm him down, and hank without thinking lost his temper and smacked her. Not only that, but the artist who drew that scene at the time was just hired and also due to deadlines, did not have enough time to redraw that scene and was left there like that.
Check out the censored fingers at 5:57, if you didn't notice. And also Eric O'Grady is lucky man, if you know what I mean, I think that what nearly every man would do if they become Ant-Man or have the ability to shrink
What's kind of funny about the issue with Hawkeye and Ant-Man, the Avengers had just ended a short arc the issue before where the Avengers added Hawkeye back to the team along with She-Hulk. Ant-Man was in the running to join the team in that arc. So for the very next issue to feature the newest member along with an almost member has always struck me as odd.
WITH THE INTRO. OF MULTIVERSE IT MADE ME IMAGINE AN ALTERNATE ANT-MAN & MORE: I can envision T.V. Actor (SKYLER GISONDO) playing an alternate version of ANT-MAN aka (Scott Lang) & I imagine his character is picked by (Hank Pym) to be his successor. Plus to add I imagine that (Scott Lang) is the third in command of the Young Avengers in his realm, and I imagine the reason why is because he takes responsibility for his actions, and to add takes responsibility for his reckless impulses as well. I also can imagine T.V. Actor (SKYLER GISONDO) doing voice-acting roles of Marvel characters for cartoon shows.
Hay Arris I just want to say how much I enjoy your videos and since in you mentioned the recent suicide squad trailer what's your thoughts on the the new batman vs superman trailer, do you think Ben Afleck can live up to Christian bales batman?
Can you do a special video covering characters like Hank Pym and other big Marvel/Avengers tent poles comparing their 616 versions to their ultimate versions... For example Hank is waaaaaay crazier in ultimate. But just in general it might be cool to compare and contrast the histories of a lot of characters, where their simmilar/where they differ... Since the ultimate universe is ending?
They explain in Avengers A.I. that Hank Pym is actually bipolar which has been the root for his breakdowns in the past. Because not many other Pym Particle users have had breakdowns.
regarding the suicide squad, there are some things i would prefer to change, but i don't think the movie will be bad. Also, when people were saying Jarred Leto was going to be a bad Joker, and now people think he will be good, it reminded me of someone saying that so far there hasn't be a bad Joker yet.
Forgot to mention the part when Hank calls Reed Richards a bitch for him thinking he knows more about pym particles then Hank which is fuckin hilarious
Hey Arris, can you do a video on the fan theory that says the Jared Leto Joker is actually Jason Todd? It would be awesome to hear your thoughts on that.
Please please please do a moon knight history or specter and ghost rider those three Or any other superhero that isn't very common that would be awesome Like a top ten most un common super heroes that would be cool thanks for reading my comment hope you consider it bye have a great day
