I can't begin to understand how your videos HASN'T been spread around like wildfire by the Pokemon Community. All of this information is EXTREMELY informative and paints a picture into the past of the CCG that I don't think Ive seen spread around like this before. I seriously hope more people notice this video and get you recognized because dude, you deserve it

Well thank you very much! I'm not very engaged in the Pokemon community, so it's partly my fault for not being more involved 😅 But if you want it to get more traction, you could always spread it around yourself. It's harder for video creators to spread their stuff around these days because of all the regulations against self-promotion on social media, so we do depend on our fans to share it instead.

Where the hell did you get that remix of the standard battle theme from the old GBC game? That shit was smooth.

Great video - randomly showed up on my feed with MTG stuff. I knew MTG was influential being the first card game, but I had no idea it so directly influenced the creation of Pokemon. Awesome video! Looking forward to watching the series.

Oh goodness, that pokemon tcg gameboy song is hitting me right in the nostalgia. I'm still holding hope that one day it'll get a remake/spiritual sequel, with a single player focus.

I've been hoping for one too, but I doubt it would ever happen in this era of microtransactions...for what it's worth, one of the big guys at Tribute Games has been brainstorming an original game in the same style, though he isn't actually making it yet. Every time he tweets about it he's got my attention: twitter.com/adamjmarin/status/1366054545571385345

not sure if i heard that right, competitive monopoly is a thing? i need to know more
@lost-worlds
@lost-worlds 5 лет назад
It is indeed a thing! Itoi was 8th in the world championship back in the 90s, and is still President of Japan's Monopoly Association. Hasbro approves competitive tournaments for Monopoly if they meet their criteria, and worlds is hosted roughly every 4-6 years at this point.

oh is doctor O from vanguard a reference to prof ooyama, very interesting
@lost-worlds
@lost-worlds Год назад
Not exactly a reference, but they are similar "mascot" type characters, using a real-world likeness to promote the games across a few different mediums. Other Japanese card games did this too, like at different times Digimon Hyper Colosseum used Super Digimonkey, Tailmon Betsu, and a gladiator-type character I'm forgetting the name of that was played by the TCG's designer.
