Here is lesser known fact: After Kristallnacht, many Jews were forced to leave Germany and its occupied regions. In order for Jews to leave, they needed to secure an entry or exit visa. Although entry to Shanghai did not require a visa, the Jews still couldn't exit German territories without a proof of emigration. When most Western countries barred Jews, a Chinese diplomat in Vienna, Austria, named Ho Feng Shan issued more than 2000 visas to Austrian Jews within 6 months of his post. The remarkable thing about his action was he issued the visas to anyone who visited the consulate, without scrutiny and in defiance of his superior. Technically, Chinese visa was not accepted by Japanese occupiers after the fall of Shanghai. But that didn't stop Ho from continuing issuing the visas, since all the Jews needed was a proof of any nation accepting them. It is unknown how many visas he had issued in total, but at the end of 1940, there were around 6000 Austrian Jews living in Shanghai. Many of which escaped using the visas issued by Ho.

I was about to point out the same issue about the visas (that there was indeed a visa required), so thanks for mentioning it! All of the names of the Jews who emigrated at this time are actually inscribed on a monument at the site of the former Ohel Moshe Synagogue (currently called the Jewish Refugee Museum) in Shanghai. One of the refugees was a young boy named Peter who was taught to paint by a local girl and he later grew up to be the famous poster artist Peter Max. The museum is a remarkable place and if you are ever in Shanghai it is well worth a visit. The cafe across the street also serves delicious period cuisine!

To be fair, Judaism could easily be considered as one (respectfully, the oldest) of at least FOUR surviving major monotheistic religions. (There are more practicing Sikhs than there are practicing Jews, are there not? Why do the Sikhs always get left out of the "One-God Club"?) ... Of course, the Zoroastrian/Parsi faith could also be considered "Monotheistic" and "surviving", but I'm not sure if it could be called "major".
@jessicamorris4748
@jessicamorris4748 2 года назад
This probably happens because people tend to confuse "monotheistic religion" (believing in one god) with "Abrahamic religion" (recognizing Abraham as a foundational figure of the faith). As far as I know there are at least three (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) and possibly four (not sure about the Manchineans) Abrahamic religions, but as you pointed out there are other monotheistic religions in the world that don't necessarily count Abraham as a foundational figure. People confuse these two very different concepts in the same way that waaaay too many journalists confuse the concepts of herd immunity and disease elimination.

The Kaifeng jews left us 4 inscriptions each containing 4-5000 characters, but we in the west could decipher only a few sentences . A new translation of the entire 4 inscriptions is in the book "The Kaifeng Stone Inscriptions" (2006] (Amazon) annotated in both Chinese and Jewish context. Are the jews mentioned in Ancient Chinese literature? You can find the answer in "A history of the Kaifeng Israelites" (2018} (Amazon) , written by a scholar of Classical Chinese language and Hebrew.

I find lots of judeo practices and values in chinese culture. Can you research on it from history of Genesis in chinese language to common traditional valuex of honouring parents to diligence to saving as inheritance for descendants to worship of the heavenly king without image or idol to red on doorposts and lentils to three joss incense and three cups for libations to urim and thummin, etc... of course chinese religious practices have adulterated, been modified and corrupted but there are too many coincidental practices that warrant investigation. They even have spiritual arks in some religious processions like the Japanese shinto processions. All this is extremely interesting for one God who made one land with one common beginning till the flood came and caused the continental drift and people got separated and developed different phenotypes. The common elements in creation stories and religious practices indeed proves the truth of biblical accounts. THANKS.

This post is late in time to your comment but it is worth noting that DNA studies from Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson of Harvard support your discoveries. He traces language/genetics to the migrations out of Babel. He has written a book entitled “Traced” and also made presentations via the RU-vid channel entitled “Answers in Genesis.” I have been awed as I have learned more about the connection between the Ancient Chinese and the Ancient Hebrews! I do believe we are all much more related than we know and that the movement of people-groups has been constant throughout history. I also recommend “Is Genesis History?” for research demonstrating the earth is younger than commonly taught.

China officially recognizes only five religions, Judaism is not among them. The five officially recognized religions are: Buddhism Taoism Islam Protestantism Catholicism There are several reasons why Judaism isn't officially recognized: Historically smaller presence: Historically, the Jewish population in China has been much smaller compared to the other five recognized religions. Classification: China's system categorizes religions as "zongjiao," which emphasizes organized institutions and doctrines. Judaism historically hasn't had that same emphasis in China, focusing more on ethnic identity and cultural practices. Government's control: Officially recognized religions operate under government-sanctioned associations, which provide a degree of control and oversight. The Chinese government may be hesitant to extend this model to a smaller, less centralized religious group like Judaism.

I would appreciate if you could use BC and AD as the Gregorian calendar is calculated and is based on the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ even though they made a slight mistake therefore BC or before Christ and AD the year of God make sense whereas CE and BCE before common era is ambiguous, nonsensical and most importantly offensive.

To whom is BCE and CE offensive? This is actually how Jews (and plenty of modern historians) actually mark dates. @@jessicamorris4748 it’s offensive to us Christians considering they are based on the LORD JESUS’ BIRTH. That is actually a very loaded question! To the best of my knowledge The Right of Return is applied using a very strict orthodox definition of who is a Jew, and that means only people who have Jewish mothers. As a person who was raised Jewish but lacks the matrilineal bloodline, Hebrew school was a special Hell for me and my siblings. Who is a Jew has been a matter of debate for Jews since there have been Jews in the world. There are more videos here on RU-vid about the Jews of Kaifeng and how the concept of matrilineal descent makes it more complicated if they decide to emigrate to Israel. Anyway, having the maternal bloodline is more important in using The Right of Return to emigrate to Israel than current citizenship or nationality.

Nelo W Ruth 2:6 King James Version 6 And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi OUT OF THE COUNTRY OF MOAB: they said it ! And out of all your intelligence, what does Brit in British or Britain mean ?

Alex Bej it's a simple linguistic denotation 🤷‍♂️. Jewish,Moabitish,British it was common and stuck with Jewish people. You're trying to use the English term "Jewish" to discredit a whole people. Not realizing It's an English term. By the same measure English people are called English instead of Anglo British people are Brits or British and Ruth was called Moabitish. And Jews don't even use English as their primary language. It's Hebrew that's why Jews say "Ani Yehudi or Ivri(Hebrew). That is all have a nice day

Alex Bej 😂 this whole argument is ridiculous Ashkenazi comes from Ashkenaz who's land(Europe) they dwelt in just like how the Mizrahi Jews lived in Mizrach( The East)

Pl do not mix with the Jews fr Europe and those Kaifeng Jews that came down fr the Himalayas. Those fr Europe migrated to China during the Holocaust and they were fr the Caucasus. They were converted to Judaism in 740AD by their King, Bulan. But those fr the Himalayas existed more then 2000yrs came before Jesus was born. They class themselves as fr the tribe of Manasseh, one of the 12 tribes of Israel.

Both the Jews in Europe and the Jews in Kaifeng have partial ancestry from the ancient tribes of Israel. There were even some Israelite Jews living in King Bulan's Khazar kingdom.
