This episode of the series “Folks” from February 26, 1989, is the fourth and final part of the “Pause for Pride” series celebrating Black History Month. It features: an interview with Dr. Ruby Sims on the history of Southern University in Baton Rouge and the surrounding township, Scotlandville; an interview with Clarence O. Smith, the president of Essence Communications, Inc.; and an interview with Noah Hopkins, a businessman in New Orleans, on his founding of First Fridays, an event for black businesspeople in Baton Rouge.
