The first flag was the "New England Ensign" from 1607-1707. The second was the "Red Ensign" from 1707-1775. The third was the "Grand Union Flag" from 1775-1776. Then came the Stars and Stripes.
Maybe people should research Mary Pickersgill , Ships Ensign, and what s in the Smithsonian. The truth about the flag is way more than this fake story.
I am going with Betsy Ross designed that flag and here is why. If that drunkard wanting wine as payment had anything to do with the design of her flag he would have taken credit for that design after it was made and flying proudly every where . No man on this planet is not going to take credit for something they did. He would have been bragging from sea to shining sea and most likely getting free drinks from men listening to how he came up with it. If he did anything...his input might have been 13 red and white stripes and some stars. I even doubt that he did that much.
The snake was the symbol of the 13 colonies, hence the "Don't Tread On Me" flag. So the 13 stripes, which obviously stood for the 13 colonies, probably represented snakes, being that snakes are long creatures.
Ya I don’t think that snake theory is accurate America has plenty of snakes but not impactful enough to impact our flag... It’s just a spin off of the British empire that encompasses Free Masonry colors the 13 original colonies and finally 50 stars to represent the totality of the United States included in our nation...I doubt it entails anything more or less than that...
