History of the World attempts to tell the story of humans from Prehistoric times, through the Ancient Period, Middle Ages, and Modern History in a concise movie. It's meant for people who want to have a basic understanding of the major events of human history.
Here is my original 45 minutes HISTORY OF THE WORLD documentary: • History of the World |...
Human history, or world history, is the narrative of humanity's past. It is understood through archaeology, anthropology, genetics, and linguistics, and since the advent of writing, from primary and secondary sources.
Humanity's written history was preceded by its prehistory, beginning with the Palaeolithic Era ("Old Stone Age"), followed by the Neolithic Era ("New Stone Age"). The Neolithic saw the Agricultural Revolution begin, between 10,000 and 5000 BCE, in the Near East's Fertile Crescent. During this period, humans began the systematic husbandry of plants and animals. As agriculture advanced, most humans transitioned from a nomadic to a settled lifestyle as farmers in permanent settlements. The relative security and increased productivity provided by farming allowed communities to expand into increasingly larger units, fostered by advances in transportation.
Whether in prehistoric or historic times, people always needed to be near reliable sources of drinking water. Settlements developed as early as 4,000 BCE in Iran, in Mesopotamia, in the Indus River valley on the Indian subcontinent, on the banks of Egypt's Nile River, and along China's rivers. As farming developed, grain agriculture became more sophisticated and prompted a division of labour to store food between growing seasons. Labour divisions led to the rise of a leisured upper class and the development of cities, which provided the foundation for civilization. The growing complexity of human societies necessitated systems of accounting and writing. Hinduism developed in the late Bronze Age on the Indian subcontinent. The Axial Age witnessed the introduction of religions such as Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and Jainism.
With civilizations flourishing, ancient history ("Antiquity," including the Classical Age and Golden Age of India, up to about 500 CE) saw the rise and fall of empires. Post-classical history (the "Middle Ages," c. 500-1500 CE,) witnessed the rise of Christianity, the Islamic Golden Age (c. 750 CE - c. 1258 CE), and the Timurid and Italian Renaissances (from around 1300 CE). The mid-15th-century introduction of movable-type printing in Europe revolutionized communication and facilitated ever wider dissemination of information, hastening the end of the Middle Ages and ushering in the Scientific Revolution. The early modern period, sometimes referred to as the "European Age and Age of the Islamic Gunpowders", from about 1500 to 1800, included the Age of Discovery and the Age of Enlightenment. By the 18th century, the accumulation of knowledge and technology had reached a critical mass that brought about the Industrial Revolution and began the late modern period, which started around 1800 and has continued through the present.
This scheme of historical periodization (dividing history into Antiquity, Post-Classical, Early Modern, and Late Modern periods) was developed for, and applies best to, the history of the Old World, particularly Europe and the Mediterranean. Outside this region, including ancient China and ancient India, historical timelines unfolded differently. However, by the 18th century, due to extensive world trade and colonization, the histories of most civilizations had become substantially intertwined, a process known as globalization. In the last quarter-millennium, the rates of growth of population, knowledge, technology, communications, commerce, weapon destructiveness, and environmental degradation have greatly accelerated, creating unprecedented opportunities and perils that now confront the planet's human communities.

I wish to be immortal. Not for power and wealth, instead only to witness the rise and fall. To sit alone on a mountain top for millennia. To swim in the depths of secrets at the beginning. The weight of my ancestors plight resting, solid and warm, upon my shoulders. I want to see everything, I want to understand the ebb and flow of consciousness. To know why we abandon reason to follow kings and gods who themselves cannot hope to stand against the abrasiveness of time.

I've got to admit that I was not the biggest history fan in school as I've always been more drawn to STEM classes. However, I vividly remember my physics teacher telling me that my interest in history will rise after graduation when I'll realise just how important it is and he was so right. I now want to learn everything from prehistory to modern days but it's pure chaos honestly, I don't know where to start from. And then bang, I just came across this incredible channel and omg is it the perfect guide that I was looking for. Thanks for your hard work, I hope that more people will be able to appreciate just how useful and well-designed your videos are.

Fabulous, enjoyable and quite an edifying piece. Well elucidated periods of history deciphering pivotal events that have shaped history with a prodigious socio economic and seismic progress across civilizations impact on societies. With chronological order under pinned by precise timelines makes for a marvelous viewing. Which depicts chunks of history with a healthy doze of verisimilitude and allows to put it into perspective.

Staying here may be impossible, given Dr. Carl Sagan warned us of the greenhouse effect on Venus, which is how the scientists were able to identify that our planet suffered from the same conditions due to its carbon footprint as Venus ( see Johnny Carsen interview with Carl Sagan 30 years ago) Dr. Sagan also warns of the mistake of allowing too much power to remain in the hands of few as it is dangerous: Mark (Facebook), Jeff (Amazon), and google guys and the other few. We complain about providing education to all (or mandatory military), not handouts. It's a hand-up for our nation in human capital. The automated events of AI will are slowly taking out jobs once operated by humans. Everyone can see it coming, and yet learning institutions are not standing room only. Has anyone seen the homeless population in our major cities and the effects of the tranquilizer Zylacine ( wrong spelling, I am sure) which is added to heroin and fentanyl which increases the euphoric feeling? I know these people have taken a risk by doing drugs, but they are unaware of these added drugs that most likely increase the dealer's profits. I know, most likely, it is not a problem the rest of us should worry about, but yes, it will affect all of us at some point. The user stoops over or passes out right where they administered the drug. The euphoria and the body's response to such high levels is swift and fierce addiction with the first use. This makes it dangerous for our adolescents that go through the rebellious phase. Then to top it all off, this combination that the user does not know ate in the drug has an internal necrosis effect that the Zombie drug has duped. I still think it's not a problem for those that do not use drugs. Imagine buying a house in a nice area, and the city begins to suffer high inflation, and the renters have been displaced so that rental could sell for big money. Then one day, I was in the nice neighborhood where you bought your home and had a great park, and you used to take the kids to play, but the displaced and higher homeless rates and the new category employed homeless were priced out of the market. With nowhere to go, now occupy the park, and what once was beautiful has trash and debris scattered along with needles. Tents, cardboard structures, and the lot are occupied by not just those that were addicted to drugs and homeless, but now the displaced and those that were aced out of the market are either ran off only to return are not able to keep hygiene levels and yes they all have children. Imagine a park with zombie-like creatures barely conscious with sores that bust open, and some get so bad the bones can be seen. So what diseases can this environment bring to the surface? The displaced visit people, the employed homeless all work, and all the children go to school for no other reason but to eat. Then multiply that times the major cities. That house that was so awesome is a trap. You want to move, but the interest rates have gone up, and you have the lower rate in a house caught in the artificial increase, so the threat is now real. Selling does not make sense. Imagine all that, then look at cities like Phoenix, LA, San Francisco, OR, Seattle, New York, Las Vegas, and others because it's happening right now. I am not sure why the news organizations do not think this is important enough to report, but it's happening all under our noses while we hear our leaders tell us that everything is fine and the job market looks good. We no longer search for answers and wait for those at the top to figure it all out. We are looking for get-rich-quick schemes instead of endorsing education to prepare the next generation to be able not only to make a change but to have the knowledge to continue the infrastructures we have in place. Our society is reactive as opposed to proactive. We stand all yelling about masks and who is doing what to whom without any concern of how tomorrow might look for the politically correct gender I don't know who I am, let alone where I am headed. The fact that sucide is the number one reason that children between the ages of 7- 25 are the number one reason for death, now with me to vibe, children make claims that may or may not be the psychological complications of dysphoria but a whim or right to be the individual and the Karens of the world along with the parents that want to be supportive may even encourage the transition from one sex to the other without regard to the life long consequences that are involved in their choice that was made some as early as four years old that in their teens are starting to get the gravity of it all. I am Jazz is on youtube and is troubled about life in general which most teenagers undergo if the decision is made to transfer back. The damage inflicted on those systems is sometimes irreversible. So the future outlook may include wanting to be rich but raised where everyone gets a trophy no student is left behind; Karen mothers are convinced their kid is awesome, so they need to push to help guide and the lessons learned through childhood, such as doing things they don't want to do, but in life, we buck up and do what we must learn work ethic and responsibility when these kids grow up. The world does not hold the same view as their childhood prepared them will be less confident, confused, and without the skills to navigate through life, will suffer immensely, and it will become our nation. Everyone is so concerned about rights and individual wants that we have all forgotten about what these kids represent ( not just your kid) but collectively, they become the ones left to clean up the mess of those that put capitalism over the price of the next generation. They cared more about paying fewer taxes than educating those that would be running the place, those that were fighting about masks, flat earth, and all the other things that kept them from interacting with those kids to watch kids playing with toys that they would never own stripping them of there curiosity and imagination. Hence, future innovation is at risk, and self-assured well-adjusted adults will be unlikely. I am hoping that we can turn this around. Why not go to another planet if possible or change our country name to individuals that live in the states?

I have noticed many criticisms in the comments section, of course everyone is entitled to their opinion... But I appreciate this video for its thoroughness. " The history of the world" is difficult to cover in 2 hours, but I liked how different regions and eras were discussed. I did not like the very beginning though, because humankind's prehistory is sheer theory, hypothesis, and subject to religion, opinion, etc. Once the video delved into various cultures and civilizations it was superb... Especially since little- known cultures were mentioned. "World history in a nutshell" would generally rush through the most known events and highlights - Egyptians, Romans, Greeks, etc. I like how this presented detail - as much as can be given in 2 hours, although it is odd that neither the Korean War or Vietnam war was mentioned. I am fascinated by history and anthropology, as was my father. Because of my own background and family history ( As the daughter of Hungarian refugees, with nobility on my mother's side, and married to a Mexican national.) I am trying to learn more about steppe nomads, the pre- Colombian tribes of north/ central Mexico, and Magyar origins. ( Finno- Ugric? Turkic? Scythian?) But all aspects of history interests me.

This is a magnificent video with beautiful pictures and animations. Thank you for the work that is put in this documentary. However, one element seems unknown to many people. History does not follow a linear path. Several advanced ancient civilizations existed before ours. Many traces of them can be found worldwide. Ancient books say that a cycle of seven natural disasters creates a cycle of five civilizations. Four civilizations live a 'short' period of time and are not numerous. One civilization lives much longer and becomes more numerous and more developed The last longer living civilization vanished 20,000 years ago because of the next recurring, thus predictable, disaster. Near the end of their existence, they were higher developed than our civilization today. To tell us that they existed, they constructed huge monuments like the Great Pyramid in Egypt and other huge constructions around the world. And they constructed survival places mostly high in the mountains. Like Machu Picchu in Peru. In, under or near these constructions, ancient knowledge will be hidden. The only possible cause of such a cycle of disasters can be the ninth planet of our solar system that comes close to the sun and its planets every few thousand years. To learn much more about planet 9, the recurring flood cycle and its timeline, the re-creation of civilizations and ancient high technology, read the e-book: "Planet 9 = Nibiru". It can be read on any computer, tablet or smartphone. Search: invisible nibiru 9

Indeed, Chile was mentioned only as the southern border of the Incas, Brazil was mentioned - briefly - only once during the section of colonial independence from Portugal. Great commentary.When you started to discuss how the school children in Germany are required to learn the history of the evils of the holocaust, I thought you would segue into the history that’s being denied and rewritten about the truth of American history; the Transatlantic Slave Trade. I believe that this is a relevant issue since, especially the banning of the books that they may at least seek to learn on their own. But you didn’t mention this important topic.
@EvilTurtle97

US centrism at work. I don't deny the fact the the slave trade was absolutely terrible, but the holocaust was on a different level and the US slave history isn't really a unique thing in the world, especially not in the Americas. The industrial and purposeful eradication of the jewish people is something unique and relevant to the world as a whole.
