I'm a History major and used to be a writer for Watchmojo before they ran out of ideas and decided to try making vids of my own. I've written scripts, breaking news, and sports, but my passion has always been history since it molds the present and it's important for us to acknowledge we do not live in a vacuum.

Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed this doco I found its descriptions and brutalities of the Soviet era rather hollow and sorely lacking. We seem to focus (and rightly so) on the atrocities of Hitler, but glance over the deepest atrocities of the Soviet Union. Much of the horrors of our 20th Century took place inside Lenin's and Stalin's Russia! Why so little emphasis? Im not seeking a 3 hour in depth description, but a 30 second recount of some of the most horrendous barbarous acts of this disgusting ideology of Communisim is as worthy as denunciation as Hitler is. Surely?
This is a reasonable assessment of the factors leading to World War II and the War. There are several major mistakes. 1) This idea that Fascism was not a form of socialism. Now it is true that private ownership was not totally ended. But the sate just as in the Soviet Umon took control of the economy. Just as the Soviets had a Five-Year Plan, the NAZs had a Four-Year Plan and industrialists had to follow NAZI dictates. 2) President Roosevelt's New Deal had many positive aspects. One of them was not ending the Depression. There was some recovery, primarily the result of the faster recovery of European countries and military orders as Europe moved toward war. 3) The resistance of Asian groups to the Japanese is over emphasized: There was considerable collaboration in Burma, Indonesia, Malaya, and Thailand. 4) Japanese Americans were not imprisoned; they were interned which while bad enough is not imprisonment. For example, the family groups were preserved, and the children were allowed to go to local schools.
You can't seriously defend the internment of Japanese American citizens. A cage is a cage no matter how guilded. They stole their businesses and homes, imprisoning whole families is still imprisonment.
