Final part (of 4) showing the history of the gramophone and vinyl record from the early 1900's to 80's when cd's took over. Shown on BBC TV in January 1988.The first few minutes of part 1 are missing so I do not know the correct title.I do not own the copyright. I have uploaded for educational / entertainment purposes only.

Fantastic documentary. A: I learnt a great deal I didn't know beforehand. B: It was very well put together. C: I noticed it credited Howard Hope; I spoke to him on the phone today regarding a phonograph so I'm glad I'm talking to the right person! Bravo! 10/10.

Thank you for uploading this, I love vinyl LP's more than CD's anymore. With CD's they succumb to CDROT while vinyl LP's can last as long as they're not exposed to, too much of the elements.

Sept. 2012. My business and life was electronics. The old old cylinder records had an announcement at the beginning of the tune or sound and by whom. Have we really progressed? I still have a few cylinder records, also some 78RPM thick discs (records) about 5-7 mm thick. Thanks for Uploading the four parts. JCED. ============================

I hate CD’s. I used to like CD’s, but I don’t used them anymore, because of the problems including scratches, and laser rot. Vinyl is the better format than a CD, and cassette is smaller than vinyl and reel-to-reel tape is the most common format than a cassette and 8-track tapes, because magnetic tape has been around since the 1930’s when it was introduced in Germany, and then came to the US in the late 1940’s by other brands including Ampex and 3M, makers of Scotch.

Try playing a CD when the electricity is out or when the battery is not working

I am curious. But, does anyone know what song that plays during the duration of 11:19 to 11:29 ? Or was this a custom to this documentary?
