@@anthony-ei3nj 1st off Overlord Dark Legend use's the same soundtrack as 1. It's also kind of a prequel to the first Overlord. I think the story is more focused on why the elves and dwarves went to war against each other. The combat is decent for a Wii game. The story is alright though. But the first and second are definitely the best games outta the small series of games that there is.
Maybe they could port 1 & 2 to current gen and next gen consoles I literally love games that let you be evil and cause chaos I swear not many games these days let you do any of this stuff, these hold a special place in my heart
im 29 now, still waiting for another game, but i dont think it will happen but i soooo badly want a follow up to Overlord 2, maybe old daddy comes back from hell with an army of undead to take revenge on Gnarl and Quaver(jester)
Overlord 1 - It's great but not fantastic. Overlord Raising hell - Much better Overlord 2 - N U T Everything else after - Don't ever come near me or my son ever again.
@Randominator And they did the minion command gauntlet dirty in the second one. It changed from a commanding bellow from the depths of hell to a child yelling in the wind. Plus I still like the first overlord game, but I haven't played it recently to really enjoy it. What I really want is a good third game, maybe a game with the first ever overlord? Or one with the most evil out of them all lore wise? Holy shit the music in this series is amazing too, and a little louder in the second one. The title theme is still one of my favorite game songs to this day.
@Randominator Like you said, it's a matter of preference, but I liked the story and tower better in the second game. I felt the second game was a better villain origin story, showing you as a kid in the town and growing up to become the Overlord and exacting revenge. The first just opened up with the minions finding you in a coffin and saying "you're the new Overlord!" Yeah, you learn more about your past later, but it just felt better in the second. I felt I had more reason to be evil. Maybe it's not exactly the story I liked about the second, but feeling more motivated to be the overlord. And I also agree with mmorpgkitty about it being better not having a good option. The domination and destruction options adds just as much replayability without needing to give a good option. The good option in the first just felt weird. Gnarl keeps calling me an evil Overlord, meanwhile I'm doing nothing but good deeds. lol It was funny, but not really appropriate for an Overlord game. The powers I kind of agree with though. Was a little disappointed about that in the sequel. More diverse enemies in the original is also true. Taking out each of the different heroes was cool. The original still has it's advantages for sure. Would still love a proper Overlord 3. I haven't played any of the games after 2. lol
I don't like it as much as 1 and 2, (no idea what N U T means) but I do appreciate dark legends, it had a fun story of basically being the most squeeky clean overlord by dint of everyone either being a criminal or enemy faction scheming against you, or everyday people desperately wanting someone competant in charge. I also liked how the wii controls meshed with how the overlord actually moves around and commands the minions. All the fun twisted fairy tale elements, and being the origin for elf/dwarf animosity in universe was fun too. It is basically the perfect overlord game for a younger audience too.
Overlord 2 and Brutal Legends were the first games that ever made me feel passionately frustrated with where their paths lead.Loved those two, but hey, Jack Black is working with Double Fine again after all these years so maybe they'll make a Brutal Legends 2. (if EA heccs off) Then maybe it'll be ok to have hope for the Overlord series as well!!!

@@arkamis1354 Well take prison architect, Whilst it has a few DLC theres still plenty to do for free. Heck they even gave us a free dlc cleared for transfer. If they bought overlord i hope they treat it like prison architect.
This was my first ' History of ''insert game name here'' video '. Let me know how I did, if I could improve on editing, shorting clips, making clips longer, etc. Or if it was good as is. I had fun making this video, although I felt a bit more editing could have been done. But I spent about 8+ hours on it already (not including the pre recorded game clips I had from overlord 1, 2 and DL). I hope if your reading this you enjoyed it nonetheless :)
(nice use of Everlight Mystery/Reef music) The editing looks fine and the quality is clear. Although, it looks more like a tribute without voice commentary or at least additional text details. Text-only will suffice but if you want to make it a more thorough history video, you can date each game as it is shown onscreen in large enough font and placed at the bottom-left corner. Also, another idea is using trivia bubble pop-ups with fun facts to read about different aspects of each game and any later changes. There are developer diaries for Overlord 2 that I remember. You can comment on those and add them in between, if you want. Also, DO NOT FORGET The Overlord Show and the Whack-a-Seal browser game from the original Overlord 2 website, which is currently no longer up today. ;) Other than that, I enjoyed this video for highlighting Overlord with some needed attention. The nostalgia washed right over me. I have been a fan of this franchise since I saw Overlord II on a G4TV X-Play interview. Eventually, I played the Overlord demos back in 2009 and then purchased both games and their DLCs sometime later. I spent hours in multiplayer with friends and nearly got all achievements in the games because of how much I loved them. I saw Dark Legend on the Wii and bought that years later with Minions. I took to the old forums back on the original Codemasters site and made a thread about Overlord 3 ideas and watched it fill it up with tons of posts. There were so many that I never got to read everyone else's ideas and I didn't bother to screenshot the page for later references to use. Codemasters may have shut it down, but I remember that it was quite enjoyable to share passion about the games in a discussion with others that could also see their charm. Unfortunately, I ignored Fellowship of Evil after what I saw, waited years for a true Overlord 3, and decided to instead purchase more copies Overlord 1 and 2 for both PS3 and PC. Overlord 3 may or may not happen in the next 10 years. 😢
My condolences for you having to play through Fellowship of evil to complete the set, it was a tragedy that we all fear might have killed the franchise.
Dark Legends is basically Overlord Lite- in a good way, its shorter and smaller world and plot wise, but uses that scope to tell a story with the series' iconic humor, and I really liked how the wii controls worked with the gameplay- which thankfully didn't try for anything like the complicated control puzzles you got once or twice elsewhere (darn you spider temple). So not as great as 1 and 2, but very good for what it was made for, a smaller scale game with a different control method, that tells a smaller scale but still well done story, the story book aesthetic for the narrated sections fits too. Also an amazing contrast to something like Fellowship of evil, that dropped everything the series did in terms of gameplay to make a disapointing slogfest of a gauntlet clone- there is a good story hidden in there, but you are best suited to just watch all the cutscenes online rather then actually play any of it.
Didn’t play it since 2010 and decided to play 2 again on Xbox one. Thanks for showing this series some love. I feel it was always underrated in both gameplay and story. Keep up the great videos

Just played throu Raising Hell and its NOT just an updated version but also more content on top of the base game. So its more of an expantion into the original.
Sorry I am late I hope I caught you before you made the mistake- I don't know about Minions, but Dark Legends is good- its smaller scale in a lot of ways but the wii controls feel like a great match with how the overlord actually moves, casts spells, and commands minions. Fellowship of evil is a trap, don't waste your money. It has a cool story (good WON and now evil needs to make a comeback, and there is some interesting conspiracy behind all that ends implying some greater threat to come) but the gameplay is a poor man's gauntlet clone, and is built around multiplayer, and noone plays it so you can't even get the full intended (if still very subpar) experience. You run around mashing attack buttons, very occasionally getting to summon one or two minions who immedieatly run off to do something contexutally, and every boss fight is just killing swarms of mooks while waiting for a forcefield to go down mixed with dodging huge magical attacks. The worst game I ever bought. Just look up the cutscenes online to get teh story, the only good thing it included, and play something better.
I had a modified wii console when I was a toddler, thanks to that I discovered Overlord since it had dark legend in the selection of games. It was my first ever overlord. I recently found out about it being an actual series thanks to fellowship of evil(which I don't quite like but still...), the nostalgia kicked in and now I'm currently playing overlord 2 thank to xbox gold free games and I'm soo happy becouse I can finally play with a gem of my childhood. Yeah i first played one a little bit (got my dad killed), i got minions and two, later i finally got my own copy of 1, recently i got overlord 2 free with gold on my xbox one
The overlord series really is a series that benefits from technology moving forward. Imagine the destruction and amount of minions that is possible now. Could probably have 100 minions taking apart houses.

Yeah I think he gives hints towards that in 1 and 2. That he is the real overlord he just uses a puppet like the Evil Wizard or a Brute warrior (the player) to do his bidding. They think there in charge but he's pulling the strings. That's my thoughts on it.
God I freakin’ love everything about overlord 1 and 2. I’ve also played the raising hell expansion for the first one and it was great. You’ll even hear it referenced in the throne world selection in overlord 2.
Overlord was the best game i have ever played, i have 1 and 2 on my xbox 360, had minions twice, lost my first one than bought another one at a pawnshop recently, and got 2 on my xbox one
My PC was really shite as a lad but i had a Wii and DS and both the Overlord games on those consoles were so fun. Miss em. I did play a bit of 1 and 2 but i haven't finished them
There needs to be a new Overlord game. They can't leave it on such a sour note with Fellowship Of Evil it makes me genuinely sad, They were building up so many new and awesome concepts for the series in Overlord 2 that could be built upon but they just ditched it. There's nothing like Overlord but the company prefers racing games so who knows.
Overlord Dark Legend was the first game I ever played and I've been hooked ever since, never actually fully played the first one due to getting stuck in one area, though I'm currently going back through it while I take a break from Horizon Forbidden West... Game glitches suck 😂
I consider dark legend to be sort of a prequeal to Overlord 1, story makes sense, and the wiki is wrong, dark legend clearly talks of a dark baron which is the overlord before lord gromgard
The game has potential to surpass games like fable it will be around for long time. Each one teaches us about overlording and minion-ship. For the Overlord go forth my fellow lords and minions.
