From this video you will learn the history of the journey of the Rosetta spacecraft sent on March 2, 2004 to comet 67P / Churyumov-Gerasimenko. A little wanderer, spent a long 12 years of life in outer space. Three times flew around the Earth, was near Mars and two asteroids - Steins and Lutetia, taking their photos and collecting data. Having reached the main goal - comet 67P, the Rosetta automatic interplanetary station undocked the Fila lander, which sank to the surface of the comet.
On July 1, 2020, the Kerbal Space Program released update 1.10, with which it became possible to launch, (albeit in a simplified version) the very Rosetta mission. I tried to tell (albeit in the most concise version) the true story so that the mission in the game finds some historical meaning for you.
So that the simulated events do not mix with the gameplay, I made them black and white. In my opinion, the picture from the game is too "motley" and against its background it is more difficult to plunge into the story.
I really didn’t want to use the material from the ESA channel, so both Rosetta and Fila devices were made for the video in the Kerbal Space Program game. Due to the limitations on the details, this is not an exact copy of them, just something similar. Both of them are not suitable for flights to a comet, but visiting Gilly, as well as undocking the Fila lander by landing on the surface, is definitely worth a try!
Gilly, a small asteroid, Eve's small natural satellite, was used in the video to simulate the landing of the Fila lander.
