Uh...that's a domestic goose, not a wild one. Now you gotta go rerecord this whole thing cause you grabbed the first picture of a goose that came your way! Seriously though, this was great. I look forward to my next one.

Ah, but he is wild. You ever see a regular ole goose dance like that. Cheers

If you read that plate carefully, the story of Louis Paulhan does not seem boring at all. After winning the most famous race of the era, earning incredibly hefty price (about a lifetime salary of a schoolmaster in Manchester area), he followed on to survive two world wars and died at 80. Most of the aviation pioneers died within the first decade of their activity.

Interesting. I hadn't looked into his post-race history. I was only talking about what happened to him in the race itself. I will have to take a look into it.

@@Wickedacorn Sure thing. His life is enough for a series of videos. Said that, an uneventful flight in the early era was quite something, as you observed in the vid about Winifred Brown

@@gliderfan6196 True enough. It is his own account, though. However, he did say afterward that he would not do it again for 10 times £10,000. But that was mostly due to the cold and fighting the wind the whole way. Have to get over to Stalybridge to finish Winifred II. She was involved in a crash there not long after she got her license in which a young boy was killed. It's a wonder she continued flying.

@@Wickedacorn I fly oldtimers in flight simulator (Belriot XI, Tiger Moth) and that is hard enough. Doing this in a real thing, exposed to elements... it only makes my admiration for those incredible men (and women) in their flying machines, grow

@@gliderfan6196 I found a great clip I’m using in the video of a Farman III replica. Thats what both pilots used in the race. These Russian dudes flying around in a wicker chair. Mad. But If there were enough lifetimes I would definitely build one and fly it.

Regulary I visit WW2 Fora. Often I encounter people who have a strong intrest in de WW2 German side, some have: History is written by the victors as a footnote. Someone wrote as a rebuttal : Then why am I surround by the so many books of the losers in any library?

It's only true sometimes, all the time, or sometimes not at all.
