tbh they wouldn't have known if we liked it because the 2 games were in development around the same time and with how unfinished the game already feels I don't think it would have been a good idea to change freeze to frostbite in S/V (they did something similar with SW/SW by adding overworld Pokemon when they saw how much we liked them in Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee)

This is why my annihilape is Tera Ground and i let it keep Stomping Tantrum which it naturally learns. It's no rage fist but after missing on a pokemon that switches in to be immune to its stab, the tera ground stab + a doubled 75 base power move to 150 after a bulk up or two is nothing to sneeze at~

@@lessgochamp646 It would be more balanced and recovery was reduced with power points anyway from most moves, so it would not be a problem. Also freeze is just pure luck stupidity, frostbite would not affect physical attacker.

I built a team where the main intent was to disguise it as Lycanroc Dusk. Zoroark was specs and Lycanroc band, so stealth rock can’t give away the illusion, and they speed tie, so you can’t also judge based on speed. The best part is that their checks/counters are radically different, so you can open up a huge hole for Lycanroc by disguising Zoroark as it

Gamefreak is too much of a p.o.s. to add frostbite to their new game. They'll never do it because of how metashifting this kind of change would be. Especially in the case of Tera normal guts frostbite stab facade sets.

For those confused about Bitter Malice: before Gen 9, it used to be a Hex clone that had a chance to inflict a status condition, making it self-sustaining. It was basically a variant of Infernal Parade (H-Typhlosion's signature move). So it used to be able to achieve a base power of 120 quite easily while also inflicting frostbite - a Legends Arceus specific status condition that was basically burn, except reducing Sp. Atk rather than Attack. Since frostbite isn't a thing in Gen 9, and Freeze would have been a big no-no with a 30% proc (Game Freak still has PTSD with the OG Gen 1 Blizzard), Game Freak just retooled the entire move. But with a static base power of only 75, they pretty much made it into a more defensive Shadow Ball, with no offensive advantage over the 80 bp move at all. Which is a _huge_ downgrade for a primarily offensive, extremely frail mon, which will 90% of the time go for the extra power and 10% chance to drop the opponent's Sp. Def instead. I also think it's weird how the Gen 9 version reduces Attack, when the Legends Arceus version inflicted a status condition that reduced Sp. Atk.

@@aaronsmith5947 poison does twice more damage than burn, and toxic is worse, so making it divide special attack by 2 would make it the most broken status behing freeze. Also special attack is already nerfed : it has less stats (120 attack is quite good, but 120 special attack is really really good) and less powerful moves (think of Close Combat in comparison with Focus Blast).

I believe someone is working on a tool to create Gen 5 sprite animations for use in ROM hacks. The only way to do it currently is to use leaked proprietary Nintendo software that is straight up illegal and not meant to be used by anyone outside of Nintendo, and no one wants to mess with that, understandably.

I personally with Frostbite was implemented. Frostbite is not only a Special Burn, but it gets us away from Freeze being a 10% chance to Freeze and a 20% chance to thaw every turn unless either you or the opponent uses a move that has a chance to inflict burn. The longer Freeze works like that, the longer GameFreak will ‘balance’ Ice types around Freeze status. And I don’t know how many people would prefer that over the alternative, similar to how people seem to prefer Snow’s Defense buff over Hail chip

honestly, normal ghost is such a good type combo. It removes the ghost type weakness that ghost has and the fighting type weakness that normal has (not counting scrappy) without introducing any new ones. Yeah normal doesn't bring anything offensively coverage wise but it does give stab to some powerful moves and ghost already has great offensive coverage.

Hyper Voice Tera Normal is better than STAB Tera Blast before Tera in my opinion. You can get around substitute from Cyclizar and Orthworm’s Shed Tail with Hyper Voice, and you can pair it with Throat Spray to get a 1.5x boost afterwards. It also will get 2x STAB from Tera Normal Hyper Voice to hit almost everything neutrally, rather than changing your type altogether with a different Tera Type

Huisian Zoroark also has some great supporting moves. It has Icy Wind, Bitter Malice and Snarl. Pair this with Hyper Voice and you can run a supportive Assault Vest set in VGC since all of them are damaging moves. For frail physical attackers (or for Scovillain gimmick teams if you're based) it can use Foul Play as well. You can also swap out Foul Play or Snarl with Tera Blast as well if you either already have specially defensive partners, or if you want more offense and a way to deal with your checks. With it's already good speed and special attack you can put all your investment in your defenses and HP and play them support instead of normal is what I'm trying to say. Bitter Malice is especially good since it's an offensive support move that you have STAB on. If you pair it with something like Amoongus or any other status heavy Pokémon then you can also use Hex to get a 130 BP move with STAB on it all while keeping your Assault Vest. For sets outside of Assault Vest you have great options like Will-O-Wisp, Trick, Memento, Leer, Helping Hand, Imprison and Taunt. I'd recommend the Assault Best set more though because their moves doing damage means they can't be disabled through taunt from any Prankster Pokémon. Note that it also gets Detect meaning it can't have it be disabled through Imprison.

Something else that makes it much better than standard Zoroark: it only has 1 weakness. With Normal Zoroark it’s weaknesses are so plentiful and so common that even if you’re disguised as an opponent they’ll probably still chose a super effective hit and die anyway. Meanwhile H-Zoroark only has to sweat around dark type moves and there are only 2 main users of them in OU rn: Kingambit who is late game so you’ll basically never have them interact (and he might get banned to Ubers anyway) and H-Samurrott who has plenty of weaknesses and counters including the new Ogerpon forms and Sinestcha that just released.

Honestly I wish they had added frostbitten as status in SV. Burn has been such a valuable status to deal with phys attackers in challenge runs like Nuzlocks, the online meta and just game play in general; it would be nice to have a special counterpart

I think it’s worth mentioning zoroark’s particularly great on ghost overload teams and notably allows you to bluff special dragapult when you are in fact running the Tera ghost Tera blast ddance variant which can significantly improve your chances of getting that setup turn.

a big issue with switching in on close combats is that you need to be disguised as a mon that normally is a ghost type, otherwise it sort of ruins the point of illusion since any player worth their shit will instantly know its a zoroark, and a hisuian one at that

I love Hisuian Zoroark solely based on it's typing. I'd been waiting for a Normal/Ghsot type for YEARS. 3 immunities is the best you can get from any type combo and if combined with certain abilities like Levitate or Sap Sipper, a Pokemon can potentially receive 4 immunities! That's not the case here, but food for thought.

Terra stellar is also good for it since it gets a stab from all type once so 2x for normal and ghost once and 1.5x for every other type once and it can also counter ghost or psychic type terrastalizing countering them with terra blast stellar type while still keeping its 3 immunities

Normal/Ghost in my opinion is one of the best type combinations in the game. Ghost removes Normal’s weakness to Fighting and instead makes it immune to it, while Normal takes care of Ghost’s weakness to itself, yet again making it immune, making this type combination only weak to Dark. Ghost also helps more because it is immune to incredibly powerful Normal type moves like hyper beam, explosion, giga impact, and boomburst.

you could also use the aud set where you have nasty plot shadow ball hyper voice and the last move is optional and the item is throat spray for more power on stab hyper voice and it can deal with ghost types with shadow ball thanks to immunity to ghost, nasty plot just for special tanks, making it a pretty solid set

The DLC combo: - Zoroark + Happy Hour with Amulet Coin - Gholdengo + Make It Rain (Covert Cloak was my choice) Outcome: 2000 coin per Make It Rain (if level 100), doubled on double-battle (since it damages both Pokémon). The only thing I feel really holds it back is its lack of a psychic immunity, in previous generations if you were using zoroark your opponent would constantly be on the defensive since choice locked mons like lele or even less popular ones like reuniclus would get screwed if they didn't play carefully.

They should just make the move what it originally was and replace freeze with frostbite. Frostbite made sense as a counterpart to burn in legends arceus but they just got rid of it in sv and brought back freeze

Zoroark has a great unique typing with many immunities and only one weakness, however it is letdown by totally luckster bulk. But maybe with it's many immunities It can play a lot of tricks with Illusion.

The Bitter Malice changes are a bit of a buff in terms of consistency. You more consistently make physical attackers worse with STAB. Freeze shouldn't be that free overall, and even if frostbite makes a return I think a reversion would be a nerf overall.

Another thing he can do, hes a special attacker and tera blast by default is 80bp spatk normal, yes it can be used without going tera meaning you can use tera blast as 2 moves in one

They really need to rebalance the weakness and immunity chart imo. Some types are just so much better than others defensively that you literally have Ice only working as either leads you expect to die or revenge killers while Ghost, Fairy, Ground and Dark due to immunities being so valuable. I think there's definitely a mix up they could do to make the types more well rounded defensively and I hope they do it eventually I would quite like to use bulky Ice or Poison mons more.

Also the fact that ghost is normally weak to itself say u have like a ssgss primape in the last slot they won't dark pulse u cause they think your part fighting so they'll swap something in with ghost coverage to try to deal with you.

They should’ve kept frostbite in the games. It would be huge for ice types to be able to frostbite special attacking Pokemon and give them the nerf they deserve. Freeze is rarely happening and there isn’t even a freeze equivalent of thunder wave out there. Also when you are frozen you are fucked, unlike sleep with sleep talk. It would’ve been nice for balancing.

I wish they'd given us Frostbite over Freeze, partly because it feels so sacky to effectively "KO" a Pokemon just because you got a low chance of proccing the FRZ and partly to buff Ice Types to work with the new Snow weather and Veil to at least grant them some form of defensive profile in spite of their lack of resistances.
