I find Hyoyeon tends to dance cleanly more than the other dancers. She makes every move look so effortless that it looks too easy but in fact she's putting out some technical stuff. She lets one move flow into the next, and floats across the floor instead of endlessly hitting the audience with kapows and stares. It's not always dazzling, but her stages are clean and technical. What I love about this one is that it's really hip hop. No flashy light show or unnecessary props. This is a dance you can see someone doing in the streets at night.
I think she's still one of the best female dancers out there. Atleast Top 3 including 4th gen. Many people think that popularity and stage presence is the only recipe for being a good dancer, but those are just part one of the components.
the skills needed for this though...i dont think people are giving hyoyeon enough credit...she doesnt really put on "solely entertaining" performances, she shows her dancing skills not acting skills
Nattharika thongthep yes ive done hip hop dancing casually since i was 8...expression is fine, but dont make a dance all about the expression...some other performers whove received high scores hardly danced, their backup dancers did the dancing part, all they brought was facial expressions and acting...that shouldnt be the focus
You don't need to pull off some complicated moves to make a great performance. It's a combination of expression, skill, and uniqueness that creates something captivating. Everyone just has a different style or combination they use to express a song or story. She did great and Ukwon, from what I assume you're implying, did great too :) Besides Hit the Stage isn't labeled as a dance show, it's a performance show that utilizes dance as one of its sole components.
+Jasmine DeLaCruz Hit the Stage is an Mnet television program in which eight K-pop idols team up with professional dance teams to compete in a dance survival contest. I searched it on google and it is a dance competition indeed.
I think what people who believe they are dance experts fail to realize is Hyo is a girl who trained with GUYS because her dancing was that powerful and that good and then she was put in a group where she had to blend in and match the dancing of the group. snsd does not do hardcore hip hop choreography. now 10 years later Hyo is pushing herself to regain and showcase what she loves and people in the comments trying to shit on her. This is why females have it so hard being idols no matter their skill or how hard they work keyboard warriors try to belittle their talents. either you know her history and seen her grind for yourself or you bandwagon shitting on her bc your faves aren't as good. either way Hyo did great.
Yes it does. Training to do what guys do is difficult and it takes a lot of skill to keep up and not look weak and soft next to them. Dancers who train in coed dance programs will tell you that. I agree with you though she has the drive and passion and that's why she is good
@@ankhesepaaten this is because the concept of boygroups and girlgroups. male and female trainees have different concept?routine? of their training. so SM put Hyoyeon with the male trainees.
@@Gothsss depends honestly since men are known for powerful movements and women are known for flexibility. Either way, both should be honored regardless of gender.
i feel like no matter what kind of dance she does, everyone will still hating on her or judge her:( this performance is really good and neat, and the choreo is on point. i think it will be better with better music choice tho
After watching SWF, you will actually appreciate performances such as this one. An amazing dancer knows how to blend in with a whole group of dancers, and at the same time, can also shine in their own. Hyoyeon did not aim to really standout in this one, plus this genre & dance style is NOT simple. The amount of versatility she's shown in this show alone showcased her skills and her passion for dance. Years after, she is still my dancing queen (all gen, yes).
Hip Hop Hyo, finally we can see it again. thank you for performing this. too bad she wont be on the next concept (most likely due SMTOWN), hope we can see another new kind of dance from Hyo next time.
I read some comments before i watched the video and my expectations were getting low. After watching it i was like "what are y'all talking about this is lit!" Fighting my baby Hyo
People, please stop saying she didn't do her best. I think it's because we all labelled her as this popping hiphop queen that we fail to look at other aspects as well. She did her best, she did great and she proved how being a dancer doesn't always mean showing what you're best at but that being a true dance means doing your best even through other dances as well. She doesn't need to prove herself. Why? Because she's already a dancing queen.
this^ I literally said this when she did the tango. I think she is doing this for fun not to prove anything. she has proven herself long ago. she's just enjoying the process and entertaining doing what she primarily loves to do. your comment was truth
The thing that makes hyoyeon one of the top-tier kpop dancers is that her fundamentals are hella solid; like her foundation of the basics are very well engraved in her body so you can see how good her techniques really are.
What blows my mind about her vs other main dancers is that no matter how powerful and technical the move she always keeps her hands so soft and graceful
As always, she never fails to impress me. Hyoyeon, so far, is the best female kpop dancer I know. She can do any genre from ballroom, to popping and locking. She's just so cool.
I love how 13 year olds think they know dancing better than professionals "honey j saved this perf more than hyoyeon" "rookies are better than her" shut up and go back listening to your oppas and flop rookies, she's the best female dancer after BoA, watch all her performances since 2007 and you'll see why people call her dancing queen.
thank god someone on these videos mention BoA. all these children are fucking clueless. BoA is forever the queen of kpop. nobody will touch her. hyoyeon is the best female dancer after her. as for the rest, there are a ton of great dancers in this era. but never talk compare them to these queens.
I know you are enraged at some of the 13 yrs old but it's also not right to call rookie groups as a flop. It's like you're also saying that rookies suck and that it's the group's fault for the fans to compare them to someone like Hyo, it's also almost the same to when some immature fans compared their biases to Hyo. I'm sorry if I sounded rude but you offended the rookie groups that we stan. They are not at fault because of some immature fan's bratty behavior.
chandana torangal cant relate to the kids who dare to judge dancing skills of SM artists, thay are not idols they are artists. Not at how Shinee’s Lucifer literally changed the perception of idol’s dancing in Kpop. Gotta know your roots kids
I think Hyo, the company (SM) and this Hit The Stage producer, has arranged a perfect scenario. They agreed not to show Hyo's best performance yet bc this TV show won't be attractive anymore. Hyo is the magnet on this show, the Center as well. So, it's like save the best for last. But this performance, SHE NAILED it! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
+Tania Worang Yeah this is Perfect. And I really am annoyed right now having these jelous haters coming to her just to belittle her. Srsly? If they don't like it then get their ass out here.
People, if you stop focusing on the flashiness of the dance, you might notice this is really good?? Those who really don't know a clue about dancing never tend to actually notice the technicalities, precision or anything that should really be judged Don't forget this is a "uniform" concept, and she's working as part of a team, not trying to be the main focus. Others may have approached this concept differently, but like you see here, she's wearing the same outfit, doing the same dance, and just as greatly as the other members. Trying to stand out wouldn't do anything for this performance. THE POINT IS TO BE IN A UNIFORM MANNER.
hyoyeon is showing that dancing isn't all about sharp and powerful moves. it is also about the flow and seriously hyo makes everything seem so smooth and easy when in reality i'm sure it's not. she is showing a different side of her dancing and a higher level of professionalism. 화이팅 효연!
new gen fans refuse to see that hyoyeon's knowledge of dancing goes beyond hip hop. and even if people try to delimit her to that genre, it's actually what she's best at due to training she's been through when she was a trainee. minzy's close but we haven't seen her do partner dances which hyo already showcased in DWTS. i personally think her skills can overpower boa's which is why for me, she is the best out of all female kpop idols out there, not just in terms of experience but also with the technicalities.
i don't freaking care what people are saying but i think Hyo nailed this performance! my eyes glued to her the entire time! i could have been bias cause i'm a sone but my friend agreed that the blonde girl attracts his attention too! QUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENNN
Think something thats super underrated about this perf. is that if I cover up the faces I don't know who Hyo is. They're all just so in sync and the fact that they fully encompass what's seen on the streets is why this performance is so good. Think people saying "this wasn't her best performance" are just sleeping on this stage, because it was dope as hell, just not as flashy as the other ones that you see.
I see Hyoyeon dancing is so effortless, she doesn't need to be very energetic. Instead, she looks technical and her movements are fluid and clean. Her isolation is great. This girl is a Talent-Star in dancing. Yet she looks humble. Unfortunately being in SNSD doesn't showcase her true talent. I mean Hyoyeon can mastering SNSD type of dance in just 30minutes. I love Hyoyeon.
HYO IN HER ELEMENT RIGHT HERE!!!!! Honestly, she's the only female idol member who can rival any male idol dancer out there! I mean she's one of the guys!! Even during her trainee days, Hyo was took dance class together with the guys. and she's the only female trainee! She's got mad skills!
i think the only thing lacking here could be to play with music better, to complement it with the choreo, i personally feel this choreo is superb and neat, which is something not easily achieved in a team. and IN THIS CHOREO, she has done her best, if she has not, then you would probably see a lot of off point moves or wrong position, but she did everything in the right place so THIS IS THE BEST OF HER. Being the best in your eyes, and her putting her best in that piece is two different things and that is what most of you need to realize here.
THIS! She did really well! she slay all the pop and movements in the choreo but the only thing is off is the music it doesnt give any impact with the dance.
Hyoyeon enjoyed, that will be the most important thing for her. She is in this show to perform and what I like about her is doing her best and trying different genres.
I think this performance is great. It may not come out as "powerful" but performance wise, looking at the whole team as a whole, I think Hyoyeon and her crew did the best in this concept. The skill and the team work, it's beyond great.
Hyoyeon is like the janet jackson or Ciara of SK and kpop. She proved that women can dance with men. She proves that women can have just the same difficulty of a dance and rock is as well as men can. She proves that women dont have to dance sexy to be amazing. That they dont have to rely on sex appeal and their looks to get peoples attention. And thats what janet jackson and ciara are all about. She embodies them. So proud of our girl!
Hyoyeon, I would like to wish you an early happy birthday, as the time is drawing close. I don’t even know where to start to thank you for the role model you have been in my life. I started supporting Girls Generation almost a decade ago, and I was introduced to the group by my older sister. This was my first introduction to K-Pop, so I had never seen anything like it before. The group did, and still does make my sister so happy, and it is one of the few parts of her life that today continues to give her motivation when she finds it hard to find any. Despite not knowing any of the members’ names yet, you stood out to me immediately. You were just so beautiful and had such a demanding and powerful presence in the group and in the music videos, I fell absolutely in love with the way that you execute your musicality. Ever since then, I have spent every second getting to now you more and more. Though I wasn’t there at the very beginning, since my introduction to you almost a decade ago, I have been a huge supporter and fan, and have stayed by your side all of these years. I’ve learned about what you’ve gone through, as well as what your members have gone through, and how you faced it together. You have taught me so much about perseverance and love that I can’t even even explain in words how much I have learned. I have changed so much because you have shown me how to live freely despite what anybody thinks about me. You are one of the first women to ever show me how to reach my full potential in a world that makes me doubt what I can do. I have felt no limits watching you fly freely across the stage, both with your members, and by yourself, and you make me feel like I can do the same thing. I know you have been through a lot and have overcome a lot, especially being that you and all your members are iconic and legendary. I’m not even going to try to imagine what it’s been like to have all of these eyes on you for so many years, but how you’ve had the motivation and kept going is beyond me. You are so strong, especially given your platform and everything you’ve potentially had to deal with. Through the years, I’ve watched you evolve from a young woman, exploring her talents with her members, to a confident musician who shines no matter what she does. I love your impressionable and playful rapping skills, unique and versatile singing voice, and your unmatchable and irreplaceable dancing skills. You have been one of my favorite performers to watch and become inspired from since I’ve been introduced to K-Pop. You have always been so special to me and one of the first people to show me that I can be more than what I am. I know that your members are just as grateful to your for sticking by your side and bringing them comfort and happiness in a way that nobody else can. I know that you all are still together despite pursuing individual projects, and the bond that you have is exactly what I hope to have with my great friends one day. I know your family is proud of you most of all, and I want to thank them for being such a huge factor in all of your success and glory. On behalf of them, your Sones, your friends, and your members, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being exactly who you are and showing power in a world that wants to take it from you. I absolutely adore you so much and I hope that you know how much your are loved and will always be remembered for generations. I pray that you and your loved ones stay safe and find happiness and worth in the future. Thank you for making history and sacrificing so much to bring us entertainment, music, happiness, and inspiration. Please stay safe, have as much fun as you possibly can surrounded by the people that love you most, and happy birthday! We adore you and love you so much!!!
I think she did really great; the only mistake was the choice of music making the dance seem bland. If the same dance was matched with a more pumped-up and strong music it would give the wow effect. Good job, I hope she wins at least once!
