Imagine if I told you that you could gain 20 accurate yards with a golf swing shorter than your current one...Well in this week's golf lesson you are going to see how Danny Maude is adding 20, 30, 40 and sometimes 50 yards to golfers in a single session with a super short backswing.
At the start of the video he shows you the two key things you need to know to improve your contact whether that be with your iron swing or driver swing. As he says "there's no point trying to gain distance if you haven't first got a consistent strike"
Once you have the strike you will have already gained some yards but then it gets interesting. To get you to hit the ball longer Danny gets you to do it with NO Backswing. The results are crazy. Check it out here 👇

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On RU-vid and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If it's a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Danny, Your tip about striking the bag with the entire shaft has really been a game changer for me. I now hit my irons more consistently and with more distance. You are the best instructor on the web! I just wished you lived in California so I could get some in-person lessons from you. Keep these great videos coming!

Danny - I have to give you credit. I watched this video and then went out and started fooling around with the pendulum like movement you were demonstrating. Like so many others, I struggle with figuring out how to “swing” the club. It can get so confusing. But when I started to just relax, and tried to get that upward momentum going, I ended up really swinging through the ball and was hitting some great shots! You’ve got a wonderful approach, Danny. I’ve watched so many of your videos, and I love your gentle way. The videos with your dad are especially endearing!

This push is something I feel in practice where I hit the ball pretty solid. When I get to the course I get quick and maybe anxious and throw the club head more. I think this push concept will help much on the course.. thanks

Always enjoy your content, and the information has helped my game a lot. I went from shooting 90-100 consistently to shooting consistently in the low 80's within a few months, and am currently trying hard to break into the 70's. I put in a lot of practice at PGA Frisco. Focusing mostly on wedge play and putting, and play other courses in the area 3-4 times per week. I turn 50 in July and have a goal of trying to qualify for the senior tour. I know its a long shot, but one sure way of never making it to your goals is to never try. Thanks for the help Danny! I hope one day to meet you in person. You seem like an incredibly nice guy, and probably a lot of fun to play 18 with.

Danny I have no idea how you do it. I'm following your videos after starting golf again and I'm about 5 months in. Every time I see your videos and work on what you've said you come out with a new video that explains the next step. I have gone from striking the ground and topping to beautiful flush shots on the driving range. Still trying to translate that to the golf course but I am making good progress and having fun. Danny the feeling of pushing the trail hand to compress the ball is the first lightbulb moment I have ever had. The ball striking was instantly improved, my swing was always feeling like swinging the club head and it was causing poor contact. Just a change of thought massively helped my practise today I can’t wait to take it on the course! How would this apply to driver?

Excellent video Danny on how to improve one's ball striking! I very much like your inclined circle thought and I do use it when I'm swinging a club because it certainly does help put the club in the proper swing path needed to hit solid shots! I also liked your suggestion in this video of "firing" the club as you impact the golf ball! This would definitely add the "stinger" aspect to this shot! Well Done Danny! Keep up the good work!!

Hi Danny First off, thanks for your great videos and golf instruction! Your stuff is great! So I’m one of those guys who has a hell of a time trying to maintain the right wrist flex all the way down and through impact. As a result, I have early release which results in chunk shots or, if I manage to hit the little ball first before the big ball, left shots that go out of play. After A very frustrating round yesterday, I went to the range to try to find a way to correct these mistakes. I’m happy to say, I think I found a key! In your excellent video with Peter Cowens, he kept talking about “spin the right forearm” down without losing the right arm and elbow relationship- no manipulation. Of course, being a mere mortal, I didn’t fully understand what he, the genius, meant. In one of my slow motion practice swings on the range I tried to do what he meant, maintain the structure from the top of the Backswing to impact. As I watched closely what the clubface was doing through impact I noticed when I tucked the left elbow in, the clubface was square through impact. If I didn’t maintain that elbow tuck and my elbow bent outward, even slightly, the clubface closed! It was a classic ah-ha moment!! Keep that right elbow in all the way to impact! So I hit a bunch a shots with this in mind and guess what, the ball flight was straight or maybe slightly right. No left shots and no fat shots! And I was better able to maintain the precious right wrist angle through impact! So, maybe I’m on to something, using a right elbow pivot to maintain clubface control through the swing. We’ll see next round of golf. I know you and Peter talked about this in the video, but the importance or reasons relative to the clubface control were not made clear, at least to me, right away. What do you think of this? I appreciate your great help in this amazing golf journey! Thanks again!

A really good thought for me is to try and hit the ball FORWARD. I think most amateurs have the wrong “intention”. They’re trying to hit at the ball. Having “the ball” as your target, makes you develop bad habits. You’ll come in too steep. You’ll stall out your body. You’ll extend your arms at the ball, because you’re trying to throw the club head at it. Instead…. Focus on putting pressure into the back of the ball, and driving it FORWARD. You’ll find that your body will open up and allow you to get “through” the shot. Your arms, and club will extend slightly after impact, and you’ll feel your left knuckles down more, and your right palm putting pressure into the ball. It should feel like you’re driving a nail into the back of the ball.

Danny, great stuff as usual! I do have a question: is the trail hand holding the club a little more in the hand than the fingers? The visualization of pushing with the pad of the hand makes me think it should be more on the club, but that is out of the fingers. Cheers.

I've always wondered about tee height/how high to tee certain clubs especially given the variety in tee sizes now. I've asked a couple of different people and pro shop guys and all their answers were different. With my driver, do I keep my pinkie finger extended and go til it touches the ground or irons, we basically stick the entire tee into the ground, is it actually needed? And apologies for the long comment, the ending might branch off into a different answer altogether but I've enjoyed your content for months, please keep making videos as they have helped me and many others get better at the game we love! Hi Danny, quick question. the push sensation indeed makes great contact and compression easy, and i can hit the ball a mile without much of a backswing at all. this would be a fade / out-to-in sort of swing path right? With my strong grip I get really good distance but I pull my shots. would you play around with alignment and aim with this method of swinging - that is, perhaps aim more right to account for a swing path that is headed left? OR weaken the grip to get bring the shot to more of a fade but sacrifice some distance? Thanks

A funny thing happened to me the other day in my round of golf. I was putting at the first hole, and my right hand slipped down my grip about 1/4 inch. Suddenly I felt like I was actively pushing the ball with the putter, and afterwards I began putting like this and my putts got consistently better. I even made a 20 footer for birdie on a par 3! So in my opinion your push feeling also seems to work with the putter! Can't wait to try it with chips and pitches to see if it works there also!

Woods and hybrids too

The pushing away on the backswing is brilliant. I have a tendency to suck the club inside and get the club too inside.

When I feel my trail hand push I will end up hooking/pulling my shot. Particularly 7 iron? Any idea why?

Can this be done with driver, woods, and hybrids

I’m sure you’ve probably done one before, but do you think you could do a video on how to stop swaying back while hitting the driver? I don’t do it on my irons. Whenever someone records me driving, I notice my head and body sways back a good 6 inches. I just can’t seem to keep my head still. I’m getting out driven by my buddies by 50 yards so I’m always trying to load up and swing as hard as them. I think this is causing all the wrong movements 😏

Danny, Thanks a lot. I am 85 and started playing golf 5 years ago. Your weekly videos have made all the difference in allowing me to find a great source of enjoyment. Keep up the good work. Bob

Danny is this push method a different theory than your lesson on cocking and uncocking your wrist? This method and your Peter coven lesson seem to be different than the wrist hinge or do they work together

Hi Steve, could you explain what you think the difference is so I can help. I don’t see any difference so it would be good to hear from your perspective

I feel on your current video you stay in a hinged position pushing through the ball in stead of unhinging. When my swing gets off a slice creeps in and I feel open club face is my problem I am about to start working on your box drill to see if I can get in a better impact position and club face awareness Thanks

Hey Danny, I’ve been watching you for 2 months now. Basically when I started playing golf. I finally have a better driver swing. But I can not hit my irons for the life of me. I’m always thinning my shots. Or they are line drives just over the ground. What can I do to fix this? Also, if you can when you make a video can you tell us the clubs you are using? Just so we can relate our swing to each club you talk about. Thank you in advance brother. Jonathan Baco

Hi Jonathan, if you are thinning your shots then it’s likely to be one of a couple of things. 1. The radius of the circle is getting smaller as you come towards the ball Or 2. The club is striking the ball as it is heading up this you need to do something to get the club attacking down on the ball. Check out my brand new golf school on dannymaude.com, there are videos on there right now showing you step by step how to improve your contact

I have a lung condition which requires me to wear a portable oxygen concentrator while golfing. Now I don’t expect much but I used to have a solid golf swing. My question is, are there any suggestions for adding distance? I don’t have the ability I used too but I can still play. Just curious. I assume my game at this point is purely straight but short. Im just wondering if there is something I’m not doing that can give me a little more distance.

what shouldn’t be forgotten is that the core should turn before the shoulders then arms and this gives room to push, otherwise some might think to do it sway forwards

I think this more modern approach of trail-arm dominant swings make way more sense than the traditional lead arm (see: Ernie Els, old Tiger) since our trail arm is literally our dominant hand

Curiosity question. Do you struggle for a bit with you swing switching from warm weather golf to chilly weather and wearing more cloths?

Yes, it can be tricky but it’s something that we can used to

Danny, regarding increasing power in the swing, shouldn’t we all be decreasing our tempo and maintain a very light grip pressure so that we can allow the club to “catapult “ and ensure that we can feel the key checkpoints you illustrated?

Anxious/nerves, worried about a bad outcome? Line up correctly and use Danny's "1 and 2" method; 1 being the start of your backswing and 2 letting it rip/swinging through. Say it to yourself and it'll give you a rhythm as well as block out the stalling thoughts. I've had to do it myself and it really does work then after 2 or 3 holes you're not even thinking about the "1 and 2", you just naturally have the rhythm. I wish I could link a vid for you, Danny has numerous vids where it's mentioned.
