This is basically the generation of machine that took the traditional excavator from digging sewers on roads,to the all terrain swiss army knife.These brought swing power,good track power and low effort joysticks,fuel efficient engines.These machines made the track loaders dissapear.A nice older Hitachi UH07 excavator here

I got one here at the old farm in Idaho. UH07LC-7 still going strong with 39,407 hours on it! Best tool I've ever owned in my life.

I ran a UH181 many years ago on a demolition crew and despite lots of wear and tear it still started no problem and could hold it own fairly well. I certainly liked the undercarriages a lot more stable than some of the old Cats I've run in the past.

That old machine is in good shape and yes I agree the old UH machines changed the excavating industry.

Decent old machine. Weld and re-bore those loose bushing bores and you'll take it to a whole 'nuther level. It runs nice & quiet too. Gotta love that.

Little greasy on the start but runs pretty clean for an older machine.Never did get the pinned thumb on the boom.

My grandfather had many uh143s and said they were 100% better than the later ex300s

The John Deere 690As undercarriage and carbody was built by Hitachi when the 690 first came out in the 70s. Now they build the whole machine. I had a plastic u build model of the UH07 in the 70s, wish I still had it today.

Cool fact: in the movie riki oh story of riki 1991 they use a excavator that has uh 07 but no brand name because I guess it is censorship

Because they blew so much smoke and burned oil out of the exhaust they would kill all the bugs around it.

Todd: Sometimes if you go on some of the American toy and hobby websites you usually can find what your looking for. I've found things that have long been discontinued. A good site to start at is Buffalo road imports.com, but there are also many obscure web sites I've long forgotten. Good luck
