thalia88beachbabe Yeah, offending seems to be the only way to communicate with these people. It's a pity that so few of them understand what a strawman arguement is. have you seen the video of the muslim guy trying to engage in conversation with a female australian anchor? It's about three years old but still good entertainemt value: he just can't get it through his head that he answers her questions, not his own. Douglas Murray is good. Certainly, he's a great writer, he's witty and he's clever. But despite all of that, he's still not in Hitchen's league. That tells you all you need to know about the brilliance of Christopher Hitchens.
The dude opens with "This is not about feelings"... And then he proceeds to talking about a billion ppl feeling offended and uses the word offended 54 times😂
Oh! Christopher, how we need your razor logic in this world run and ruled by the bullshittery of a pretend pandemic! Isolation is always used by tyrannies, if we don't know Solzhenitsyn's words surely we can listen to George Orwell, in '1984'; it all began as a pandemic and we are watching it come true and it's in free fall.
@Daniel Bonner No. We need a great communicator like Hitchens to hitch slap today's religious dudes. Not everyone can become a good orator or communicator however intelligent he might be. I mean, look at Grigori Perelman. The smartest dude who is anti social.
Indeed. Though in a debate it’s a risky thing to say since you are giving the opponent the ability to gain momentary credibility if they can in fact name one example. Generally, one example alone isn’t really enough to establish proof of evidence, but if the opponent does as demanded, it makes them appear more competent and, to the uninformed onlooker, more convincing than before they were asked to “name one.” Unless you’re confident your opponent can’t answer the demand, as a debate tactic it isn’t wise.

The other guy: 'nobody is trying to censor free speech'. Literally the reason you are on the show is in defence of people who are trying to censor free speech.
@Lionel Santagostino from Regina Emilia Italy the powers in the west control what constitutes freedom of speech in the west. For instance, freedom of speech laws under the european union worm very differently to those in china for example. Your question basically sounds like you're asking 'how come western countries decide on their own laws' which is pretty self explanatory
@Lionel Santagostino from Regina Emilia Italy can you give me an example of how, let's say EU written law regarding freedom of speech 'targets' certain groups of people. Also your earlier comment implies you think that speech that incites violence - the only breach of EU speech laws as far as im aware - should be legal. In which case I think you need to brush up on your European history of the last century. And why dont you calm down a bit, your obvious anger and aggression dont do anything to help your argument and frankly just make you sound a bit nuts
@Lionel Santagostino from Regina Emilia Italy lol sorry, where exactly have i told you what you can and cannot say? I think you're mistaking someone disagreeing with you with your freedom of speech being violated. Which, again, sadly just makes you seem a bit naive about what all of this means
@Lionel Santagostino from Regina Emilia Italy sorry dude i think you should take a breather and come back to this later because it's obviously got you very agitated. I asked you to show me legislation in european law that applies freedom of speech laws to one group specifically. I take it by your diversion that you can't find any. In which case your argument just doesnt stand up

@@teteudeu Claiming hate speech is a bogus term is an incredibly ignorant statement to make. Do you know nothing of what happened in Nazi Germany or in Apartheid South Africa? I grew up in Apartheid and it took me many years to understand how destructive it is. There is definitely such a thing as hate speech. Racism and sexist speech is hate speech and some other forms of speech too. The fact that you don't see this is disturbing. I also believe in freedom of speech and even the right to say things that offend others. I fully support the cartoonists right to do what he did but that is satire and social commentary and if you're offended then tough luck for you. Saying it is invented to justify censorship and trample on freedom of speech is complete BS.
@@Martin-pb7ts I stand by my words. The nazis actually USED hate speech laws to further their cause. When we are faced with bigotry, the solution is not to forbid 'hate speech', but to use freedom of speech to counter bad ideas with better ideas.

+Heywood Yabloome I don't know where you live, but in the US it's not illegal to insult Islam. The left just bullies people not to do it on social media and college campuses, but it is still legally allowed. Only in Europe have some countries started to outlaw it.
Heywood Yabloome Dude, you're wrong. It's not illegal. Yes they censor on college campuses, but you can't face legal consequences for insulting a religion. You can't go to jail for it, you can't get a fine for it, in fact you can't receive any type of criminal sentence whatsoever, and you can't be sued for it. From a legal perspective, you are allowed to say whatever you want, and you can certainly discuss the bad outcomes of evil beliefs. The State has no ability to prevent you from doing that, so it remains perfectly legal. College campuses can ban you because they don't represent the State so they aren't bound by the First Amendment, but the US government has not outlawed insulting Islam. That's just factually incorrect. Ask any lawyer, judge, or prosecutor you want (I am one).
Heywood Yabloome By the way, I'm on the left, yet I hate SJWs, and I love Ayaan Hirsi Ali as well as Sam Harris. So not everyone on the left is a pro-censorship buffoon.

As Stephen Fry said so eloquently, “It's now very common to hear people say, 'I'm rather offended by that.' As if that gives them certain rights. It's actually nothing more... than a whine. 'I find that offensive.' It has no meaning; it has no purpose; it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. 'I am offended by that.' Well, so fucking what."
So does Judaism. If you hate on whites, blacks, yellow, brown, purple, red, etc you're a racist. If you hate on religions it's religious hatred. If you hate on Jews it carries a heavier sentence and is antisemitist. The Jews are the self proclaimed chosen and better than the rest. All religions need to be stopped if the world is to develop.
@Jazzkeyboardist1 yes. Middle Eastern nations lead the way during the "dark ages" in which they were pioneers. In fact, they experienced the opposite while Europe had its dark ages. Look at all the mathematicians, astronomers, scientists etc from what would later be Islamic nations. After Islam there were literally zero involvement/contribution towards the developing world. Fact.
