Islam had stolen 39 years of my life.thanks to 1- George Carlin. 2- Carl Sagan, 3- Richard Dawkins 4- Christopher Hitchens, and 5- Lawrence Krauss, they opened my eyes , and i got freed like 5 years ago. I may have missed the boat , but at least my 4 children are all atheists since day one ,and that's how they will remain. Because they question everything and most of my answers are just like Carl Sagan said " i dont know , why don't you learn and teach me "
All 5 guys have no education in religion. Let's use your new logic and common sense Can you fully comprehend the "force" without watching star wars? No Can you fully comprehend the "force" by not actually getting into the philosophy of it? No Can you base your philosophy of it and have it be correct, without using the script? No May the force live long and prosper (while holding up the hang loose sign) If you don't learn whatever religion as it actually is, then you create an alternate religion. It becomes whatever religion, according to you. Not according to the actual religion. Neither of those guys are knowledgeable to fully comprehend any religion, enough to condemn it's beliefs. This is using logic and common sense, that they claim to have. So why don't they practice it?

+John TheIdiot Why is it more reasonable to assume there is no superior intelligence no ultimate creator of all we can know including life? There is a beginning. Every form of life every form of intelligence came from a previous life and a previous intelligence. You are a baby. There is a starter a creator a beginner a lawgiver,,, Why should I think the universe made itself? I don't Why should I think multiuniverse made themselves? I don't. It is the baby who can't admit he or she came ultimately from a lifegiver, lawgiver, creator. I know you came from your mommy and daddy... and so on. We all did. Keep going back. It didn't ultimately come from a rock or no life. You insist on thinking there is no greater intelligence when everything tells us 1. only from intelligence comes intelligence 2.only life comes from life, A BEGINNING EXISTS. You cannot answer the question. If it all got here from no life no intelligence how do we have life and intelligence now? Our universe was not always here. Impossible for it to start with absolutely no life or intelligence. The seeds of life and intelligence were there at the start. Duh!!! They did not get there from no intelligence no form of life. There is a Creator, a God. I have science on my side. You don't. You cannot get life from no life and intelligence from no intelligence. You, the atheistic dweeb, believe in fairytales! :) You lose To think there is no need for a Creator is the babyish ridiculous vie of a sad little atheist. Explain why I should think no Greater intelligence started it all. Prove it. I side with Einstein on this. We still don't know, however atheism is the inferior view. A Creator, old wise one, "God" started it all. ..And it all exists past present and future. It did not make itself. "The laws of gravity..." LOL. You see, Hawking is bright and honest and g=he understands a beginner is needed because there is a beginning. He assumes the law of gravity was always here and produced everything. LOL. Absurd sad view of a desperate atheist. So gravitational laws produced everything on its own. Atheism is soooo sad, such a desperate sad view. On top of that I need proof that gravitational laws did not arise from a singularity like everything else did. So gravitational laws were always in existence (no proof and goes against the equations of general relativity), but not only that these "gravitational laws" started the singularity which gave birth to EVERYTHING. The atheistic view is for desperate losers. LOL Fuck gravitational laws I accept a Creator is FAR MORE REASONABLE. Gravitational laws are a part of the universe and arose at the singularity. Hawking first needs to prove gravitational laws did not need to arise (like everything else did) at the singularity.

***** However, unfortunately for your position, no one has ever managed to prove one jot of the nonsense that you just spewed out like bilge water ... Almost like you had some sort of proof. Not in 5,000 years has there been one grain of proof. The Jews wrote the book and they don't even believe it anymore. Do you know what century this is?
***** Try me. what have you got? Atheists are rational beings, and don't deny god claims simply to be obstinate but because they fail prima facie as evidence. It disturbs some of us that this being (christ) whom theists deify was not regarded highly enough in his own life time as to have his actions and words recorded in great detail. If I spent two years of my life in the company of a creature whom I believed to be a god, I would have recorded every word he uttered to the best of my ability. Yet with this man we do not see anything being committed to paper by one single contemporary source. It's as if he springs on the scene full blown almost a human lifetime later than he actually lived, which is more than a little troubling. I am not trying to change your mind, I don't care what you believe. My only concern is the theist agenda as relates to society. Thank you for your post. FYI Atheists take your opening sentence to be a threat that your god means to torture us for our perceived shortcomings, just so you understand our position vis a vis the realm of "hell".
Hell is for people who hear the word of God and are too hard of heart to accept or really try hard to understand it. But God is a merciful one and if you search for him surely you will find the light so you might be saved for all eternity.
Chris Marquez Actually you should try and supply some proof of your nonsensical remarks, but I do want to make one point. You claim your little god is "just" and that he is "merciful". That is a contradiction in terms. A being cannot show mercy if he is just. Justice precludes any mercy being allowed. Even your magic universe shitting pixie cannot do contradictory things. And I dare say you have no idea what hell is. christians have over 30,000 denominations, each with its own little idea of heaven and hell and how you get to either place. Your bible is the big book of multiple choice, listing dozens of ways to get to heaven. You might try reading it sometime.
***** You told dunexxi "It's all on God's time and He holds the proof..." There aren't any gods which appear to exist. Please describe the specific procedure you utilized to separate your favorite god from the remaining thousands.
If a god does indeed exist, I will spit in his face and go to hell in protest for the cruelty that he's shown to his creation. Love you Hitch. I'm envious of your eloquence.
Barry Sabahat Well said. I'm an office boy that is not strong and generally not violent but god is top of the list of "beings" i'd love to smash in the face. But we're off the hook due to its non existence
I know. The idea is not to show anger against God, but to highlight that a benevolent God could not exist with all the evil in the world. Hey, I started out as an office boy too. Actually a warehouse boy, then office boy and then went to law schools and have been a lawyer for 23 years. Keep picking away at it. Good luck.
+Barry Sabahat All the evil in the world is a direct result of mankinds attempt to govern himself and forego God and his laws. We are all guilty of that one and all men are guilty before God. Humanity produces the evil in the world, not God.
Every time I read the comments on a religion-based youtube video, I can't help but notice how less educated, less literate and generally less intelligent the average theist is compared to the average atheist. Coincidence?
“Talk sense to a fool and he calls you foolish.” ― Euripides, Bacchae “Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.” ― George Carlin all true words. there are so many fine quotes. and i think my favorite is: Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools talk because they have to say something. Plato
"Religion is something left over from the infancy of our intelligence, it will fade away as we accept reason and science as our guidelines" - Bertrand Russell
Whipped23 Sadly, I think Russell wrongly assumed that all humanity is intelligent enough to recognise the superiority of knowledge and reason over myth and superstition. Ignorance and intellectual simplicity keep most people firmly rooted in an infantile mindset. I doubt this is going to change, and so doubt religion will fade away unless it's categorically disproven, which may well never happen. Just be grateful you're not on of them, I guess.
Carl G. Fisher IV I said that Russell assumed the average human to be more intelligent and less prone to intellectual folly than they actually are; is that what you think I'm spot on about? I doubt it would be possible to nail down the first instant of knowledge or reason in practice; both terms lend themselves to varying definitions depending on context. I don't apply either term exclusively to human beings, but think that other organisms display behaviours which entail knowledge and reason. I don't think this claim is controversial. That said, I have to disagree with you that the first act of knowledge and reason was recorded. Given that humans have only been recording history for a minuscule measure of time, and that the emergence of knowledge and reason predates homo sapiens - again, uncontroversial claims - it is as good as certain that said emergence was not recorded. I don't think knowledge and reason have a fixed starting point. It seems likely that both emerged gradually as organisms became more and more biologically complex. On the (loaded) question of who created the brains that *experience* knowledge and reason, as opposed to those that are *merely capable* of integrating knowledge and applying reason (I hope you appreciate the distinction - was it intentional?), I think the overwhelming evidence points to increased biological - and more specifically, neurological - complexity as a result of evolution. This is, as far as I can tell, no longer a controversial claim either. Sorry for the long reply, I hope it wasn't too boring. Too tired to edit, please forgive mistakes.
d w I would suggest signing up for a basic course on evolutionary biology. There's a site called KhanAcademy which has a great biology track and would clear up the many misconceptions you clearly have.
Joseph lol, does "khanAcademy" have a verifiable method that demonstrates how metamorphosis or a conscience evolved using the mechanics found in the Theory of Evolution? If not, maybe you are dumb and that is why you suggested that course as a solution to these questions.
This was it. The most succinct argument against faith that gave me freedom all those years ago. "THANK YOU for posting" does not begin to convey my gratitude
Actually being tortured for all eternity could be more fun than eternity in heaven. What do you do for millions upon millions of years in heaven? After a few thousand years I believe I would beg god to send me to hell just to experience something new.
Hey you almost hit the nail on the head. That is why you are here. You thought Satan may have a point so God is letting you experience it. Think about it!

How though? Many Religions teaches Love and peace. There might be some rules that are a bit harsh but a lot of them are for the greater good! My religion teaches to Love thy neighbor as you love your self, no matter who, or where he/she is from, we still apply it. But I don't see it in Atheism, no sir. There might be wars in Religion but that's because of people like you, those who try to divide, Atheist, and even people of Religion. that which can be claimed without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. there is no need for debate until there is valid evidence for claiming god's existence, or any other claim of anything else.
Hi there, I accept theres been no evidence to support Gods existence, however there is still a branch of science which i guess works in solving the mystery of our origin and stuffs I repeat it is still in progress. when science comes up unlocking the mysteries let us dismiss the God concept once for all ..until then let people hold to their respective worldview .
***** i can tolerate people worshiping their magic invisible sky daddies, but when they push these ridiculous stories on their children before they can use critical thinking and into things like schools or the government system, thats when i cant stand it any longer. btw, whats that branch called? i dont see how the supernatural can explain anything at all. even if god exists, just saying "god did it" will explain nothing, so i also dont see how it could be an actual branch of science either.
i can see the point you are making but that is still subjective stance which you are making ,to any degree we cannot can sort this until we've got clear cut proofs for 'God does not exist' .until then subjective opinion cannot be objective PS- Branch ?..I mean the cosomology, biology , Genome project et al .. you get what i mean ...
***** well first off theres the burden of proof, which is the point of my first comment. without evidence of something, we can say it doesnt exist just as much as anything else. however theres also the facts that we already understand, like physics and math. for an omnipotent god to exist, it would violate pretty much every law of physics, math, and even logic itself, so not only is there no evidence of an omnipotent entity (god) existing, theres mountains of evidence opposing its existence as well. some even claim god exists outside of space and time, unbound by the laws of physics, but that would mean it exists in no position for no amount time, essentially saying it doesnt exist altogether.
Mr Know It All :) well i would at least attempt to address some of the numerous arguments you just scattergunned everywhere, but whats the point of arguing with logic about science to someone who doesnt even know how science and logic work? about as much of a point as explaining the difference between synthetic and analytic propositions to a goldfish i would say. try some food for thought, i can say with absolute certainty that a married bachelor does not exist anywhere in reality because that would be a contradiction. god is suppose to be omnipotent, however god can/cannot create a rock so heavy it cannot lift therefore rendering him not omnipotent. because of this contradiction, i can say with absolute certainty that an omnipotent god not exist. as for some super powerful thing out there somewhere, i would have to ask for evidence of something like that existing. by the way, claiming that god is somehow "beyond" logic tells me that you dont care about logic and your belief is entirely fictional. for example, a = a is logic. if god can disobey this simplest of laws, that would mean god isnt god, therefore it can be whatever anyone wants it to be since its not part of reality, the very essence of fiction.

A wise friend of mine once explained what perfection would be. Perfection would be the inability to change, because what would you need to change? Perfection would also be the inability to learn because, if something is perfect, it needs no more tuning. So many Christians call God perfect. That should tell you something, though. God doesn't change, so all that horrific shit that he supposedly did back in the old testament is still completely fine to him.
Well, He agrees. The way He describes Himself is as the "I am". The never-changing God. Thank you for your comment on perfection meaning unchangable, never looked at Him that way.

@@bearrrmann Humans, along with many other species, do better when living in groups. Many of our psychological traits are genetically determined. So, if we do better when living in groups, which human has the advantage: 1. The human who has empathy and compassion and works and plays well with others, or 2. the psychopath who kills, steals, and rapes, and is either killed by other members of his tribe or is cast out to live alone? This is not unique to humans. Other animals that live in groups or "herds" also demonstrate cooperative behavior. Ever wonder why in a pack of wolves one wolf doesn't kill and eat the other wolves?
@@bearrrmann Yes. The short version of why humans, as well as other animals, can display altruism is that the ultimate goal is to pass along our genes. Self-preservation, while important, is secondary. Given that we live in groups, there may be instances where self-sacrifice can achieve this goal of passing on our genes.
Can a believer in god answer my question? How is it, the loving and just god has (allegedly) created me, WITHOUT my consent, not even giving me an opportunity to say 'no', furnished me with crappy staff such as social phobia and yet he says: you may as well not like it but then I sentence you to eternal torture? (if I'm good by the way, and keep bowing and thanking him for this shit he'd given me, I'll win eternal prize: will be give opportunity to praise god forever!!!- sounds dead boring to me)
There is much more profound purpose for our life than you outline. God created us specifically for love. Just as we raise our children to love them and delight in sharing and loving them. God entrusts us lovingly with freedom of will. He gives us the guideposts to find real fulfilment in this life on to eternal paradise It is we who condemn ourselves by rejecting His love. We choose instead to indulge the flesh and evil. Thereby we choose to reject paradise and accept eternal despair. God gives every one of His children equal opportunity to accept His truth. This life is our time of testing. There is no second chance after death. Every Knee will bow. Tragically too little too late for most. There are no atheists in Hell.
You sound like a preacher. I said I was not thrilled by a vision of paradise where you have to praise god eternally having to do what he likes, to think what he likes and to feel what he likes. What kind of a free will is it? Either you desire this or you are sentenced to eternal torture. Sounds like a coercion to me. It's a bit gloomy to think that once you are created (about which you have no say whatsoever) you will NEVER seize to exist. Life is time of testing? Let's say you're right - then why about 20% of those ever conceived are miscarried and go straight to haeven (at least, that's what catholics say now). No testing, no sin, no purgatory for them. Why was I denied this special offer?
Terry Renehan "Just as we raise our children to love them and delight in sharing and loving them." Hypothetical here, as a being created for love, what would you do if one of your kids told you they were homosexual? How much love would you show them then?
PeteBondurant13 Don't really know how it refers to my question but can answer: I do not fancy kids at all and don't have them. Always been very honest about it. Don't think homosexuality would make any difference.
I can see your racist soliloquy Your false conclusion fallacies And that you are a tool Of the aristocracy Having long looked Richard Dawkins & Christopher Hitchens over the years, have found many excellent points in some areas (& not so accurate points in others as shown by time gone on & in the areas where there has been progress - though not nearly as much as there could have been had it not been for religiously inspired muppetry). You can see in such a corrupt system as this that many of those reaping material benefits, off false conceptualities of their supremacy activities, that they are the biggest tools, indeed. And stupid to boot. Their frame ups are never going to work, as the truth is plain as day from what I see & no petty little one inch, screaming about his hard on, is getting the best of me. He, like others, doesn't want to face, being used by the alphabet soup Nazi's to torture so destructively. Examine the larger picture of what's been set up in that area of the industry. Satanist or Christian - still flip sides of the same nonsense & false paradigms. There were truck drivers who didn't know the camps they were taking people to. I've never been in a limo, or driven a car, bus or truck. Little jokes with hands, are made to show you what stories are at play, yet there's no truth, to what so many can say. Interpretation is key. I'm not so much into Sam Harris as I see many of the same problems in buddhism.
Harry Jones You will have an eternity to share the fires of hell with your fellow scoffers You certainly will be ashamed and in despair in hell fire for not seeking truth while you were able."And for this cause God shall send them a strong delusion that they should believe a lie. That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness." 1 Thessalonians 2:13-14
I am an atheist who wishes there were a god. Hitchens stated that he does not understand this thinking. I believe he just does not go far enough with the imagination required to make a god. I would like a god who is fun-loving. He laughs a lot. He does not require such things as worship. The god I would want would operate under the understanding that the only way something can be immoral is if it hurts others. Consequently, sexual activity between consenting adults is moral, be it gay or straight. Assault, robbery, etc. is immoral. Like all gods, my concept of a god is nonsensical and preposterous, but at least he is not anti-social.
In other words, you want a god of your own making, a god created in your own imagined self-image, excluding all your selfishness. Your idea that only hurting others is immoral is groundless. What have you based it on? Nothing but your own subjective feelings. You fail to define "hurting". What is that? Does that mean surgical operations are immoral because they hurt? Pulling a thorn out of your kids foot is immoral too? Criticizing someones actions is immoral if your criticism hurts? Telling the theist he is wrong is immoral too cause it hurts his or her feelings then? Telling the truth? Why is hurting "wrong"? Under atheism there is no reason at all. Atheism has zero foundations for any morality whatsoever and the smarter atheists all say so as I've repeated here over and over again. "In a universe of blind physical forces and genetic replication, some people are going to get hurt, and other people are going to get lucky; and you won't find any rhyme or reason to it, nor any justice. The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is at the bottom, NO DESIGN, NO PURPOSE, NO EVIL AND NO GOOD. Nothing but blind pitiless indifference. DNA neither knows nor cares. DNA just is, and we dance to its music."Richard Dawkins, - Out of Eden, page 133 ie, there really is no such thing as immoral. Evolutionist Michael Ruse said: "MORALITY IS NO MORE … THAN AN ADAPTATION, AND AS SUCH HAS THE SAME STATUS AS SUCH THINGS AS TEETH AND EYES AND NOSES. . . . MORALITY IS A CREATION OF THE GENES" I love that one. Morals are like sticks and stones, having substance but no meaning at all. Naturalist Simon Blackburn says "NATURE HAS NO CONCERN FOR GOOD OR BAD, RIGHT OR WRONG... . WE CANNOT GET BEHIND ETHICS." --- S. Blackburn, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Cambridge, Being Good:A Short Introduction to Ethics, pg 133 There you have it again. Morality is a human invention. There are no evils or wrongs, no good or right. Evolutionary biologist E. O. Wilson said that Ethics "is AN ILLUSION FOBBED OFF ON US BY OUR GENES TO GET US TO COOPERATE," and "THE WAY OUR BIOLOGY ENFORCES ITS ENDS IS BY MAKING US THINK THAT THERE IS AN OBJECTIVE HIGHER CODE TO WHICH WE ARE ALL SUBJECT.-- Michael Ruse and E.O. Wilson, “The Evolution of Ethics” in James Huchingson, Religion and the Natural Sciences: The Range of Engagement (New York: Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, 1993), p. 210. Wilson in Consilience (1998) also wrote, "EITHER ETHICAL PRECEPTS, SUCH AS JUSTICE AND HUMAN RIGHTS, ARE INDEPENDENT OF HUMAN EXPERIENCE OR ELSE THEY ARE HUMAN INVENTIONS." Ladies and gentlemen. Now for one of atheism's most outstanding ethicists: "NEWBORN HUMAN BABIES HAVE NO SENSE OF THEIR OWN EXISTENCE OVER TIME. SO KILLING A NEWBORN BABY IS NEVER EQUIVALENT TO KILLING A PERSON, THAT IS, A BEING WHO WANTS TO GO ON LIVING" -Peter Singer, Professor of Bioethics, Princeton University, "...KILLING A DEFECTIVE NEWBORN IS NOT MORALLY EQUIVALENT TO KILLING A PERSON. VERY OFTEN, IT IS NOT WRONG AT ALL" - Peter Singer It leads to nihilism and much much brutal useless violence, stupidity and endless killing. *Atheist regimes in the 20th century murdered over 160 million people. Isn't atheism wonderful!* You have seriously NOT thought much on this and what thinking you've done is pitifully shallow.
No actually you don't wish there was a God you just don't understand the implications. you just see the surface. If God existed ……..Everything is possible. The good thing with nature is that its inevitably fair……..Cause and Effect. There can not be Absolute pain or sorrow. What if this God of yours got crazy or angry …….We could be experience such horrors that makes the worst human nightmare seems like Disney's bedtime stories. This kind of power not only can not possibly exist but never should possibly exist.
Kostas Spiliotopoulos I get to put in the characteristics of my god and he cannot become angry or crazy. Those things are unfamiliar to him. Do not think in terms of the Biblical god.
Katie Anderson This kind of companionship can be found in humans and, some governments, believe in humans, not celestial beings. But its your choice i guess
This is exactly like saying I dont believe the lord of the rings is true, however i would love to have those characters around in real life, hey hey.. maybe gandalf is real because i can recreate the events of the lord of the rings in my mind! Hitchens what with that articulate prose and an ocean of literature in his mind perhaps falls short in imagining the lord of the rings (in ur case jesus). Since you understand that its just another literature its just fantasizing rather than believing.
God doesn't 'lose.' If you watch the entire debate you'll quite clearly see that Chris lies, is corrected by his brother (and the expression on his face when Peter does so says that he knew that Peter was right), and then he repeats the lie later. The rest is selective editing of the facts and misinterpretation of the texts. This is not Christopher's best performance. It is, rather, an exhibition of him liking a 'good row' and enjoying being a radical, even if he's not right. Winning an argument is more important to him than being right.
This makes it clear that the reason Hitchen's was so popular was not his deep thinking, but rather his skillful speaking. Anyone listening for an actual argument in this presentation will be disappointed. He even opens with a direct contradiction. He begins by saying, "I don't think it will take ten minutes to disprove the existence of God," then immediately says the atheist proposition is, "it may not be said that there is no god..." When he finally gets around to trying to offer an argument, he just says you can't believe in God because that's like a "celestial North Korea." Really?! That's the best he can do? All that does is make his atheist fanboys laugh. Doesn't begin to approach an actual argument.
I had a near death experience. I overdosed many moons ago and died 3x in the ambulance before having cpr bring me back. Guess what I saw- nothing! No memory, no white light, no hell, nothing. You die, it goes black and that's it.
Here's the bottom line: If the really was a God, we humans would have absolutely no need to know about it. Like chicken-flavored cat food, cats have ho idea what a chicken is let alone what a chicken tastes like. If there was a God we would never ever be aware of it.
@@jpt7342 Hitchens 3:16 is not inspired by the "imaginary" God. John 3:16 is inspired by God. 2 Timothy 3:16 I am afraid that your hero "Hitch" already faced his "fairytale" devil. "Imagine" how Hitchy reacted when he heard : "Gotcha, fool " I am not sure, but I can "imagine " that the first bible verses the devil would read to people like him are : Psalm 14 and 53 the first verses :" ........there is no God. Regrets, regrets, regrets....eternal regrets...
If you want to see how *dumb* the reasons typically given for people believing in gods actually are, look no further than this comments' section. I warn you, though: facepalms ahoy.
@@bearrrmann well... he might create them, I won't argue that, but he definitely doesn't fight them. He definitely instructs others to fight for him which is very odd and petty for something that claims it's omnipotence.
@@bearrrmann oh... alright... well... thats semantics. Im sure being an omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient being includes being able to fight your own battles, technically. Except evidence would show that the reality in the stories are otherwise.
“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the Mysterious, through a cosmic religiosity - the knowledge of the existence of something unfathomable to us." Einstein "I have found there is a wonderful harmony in the complementary truths of science and faith. The God of the Bible is also the God of the genome. God can be found in the cathedral or in the laboratory. By investigating God’s majestic and awesome creation, science can actually be a means of worship.” Francis Collins (led the Human Genome Project)
He is a very smart man, one I encourage all you to read his book The Language of God, in it he illustrates an idea, BIO-LOGOS its really quite brilliant it tackles God from science and evolutionary POV.
Is this really considered good by atheists? We Christians have nothing to fear. A bunch of personal reasons why he doesn't want there to be a God, what a joke.
Since a child I certainly shared probably all thinking and ideas as Christopher Hitchens and I have just known about him recently, would've been even more inspiring if I met him before. Such a great mind lost way too soon R.I.P. 😣
I don't understand why religion isn't outlawed yet , just think of how many less crazy people there would be on the planet. It would actually be a decent place to live, there might be a little peace and quiet.
