Watch the Extra 300S Assembly here: • Hitec Extra 300S P2GO ...
Hitec's big introduction into the aircraft side of the business has been highly anticipated. You probably already use their servos since they dominate the market worldwide and we've benefited from using their rock-solid radio systems as well. Now with aircraft bearing the same name, we had to check out the products and put them to the test. Watch the videos and see what we found out about the new Weekender line of aircraft from Hitec!

Well, Hitec is based in Korea but owns Multiplex, bought them a few years back. Hitec RCD USA is in SoCal and is the second major Hitec operation, representing both Hitec and Multiplex to the Americas. Hitec RCD USA has some unique products and so does Hitec Korea. Depends on the market. If I try to clarify that any more, I'd be speaking out of turn and outside my realm:) At any rate, they are separate operational companies, Hitec and Multiplex, but Hitec Korea is the holding company.

EPO is Expanded Polyolefin. This is what Z-Foam, Elapor, Aerocell and several other brand names are made from. Hitec is actually not using Multiplex's patented (higher cost) Elapor EPO foam on the Extra 300S but it is EPO none the less. We had a discussion with Hitec before receiving the product to clarify this issue. Thanks for watching!

Usually when you go from 3 to 2 blade, you bump the diameter up one size and drop the pitch down one size for a match. Likewise, 2 to 3 blade - down one in diameter, up one in pitch. In this case, I'd leave the pitch the same and start with a 13x8 2-blade electric and check motor amperage draw. Adjust accordingly for performance from there.

Sure, most hobby shops that buy from Hobbico's distribution channel (great planes, flyzone, electrifly, futaba, thunder tiger, etc.) can order in the Extra 300S. You can also buy it online at Tower Hobbies which is owned by Hobbico.

Well, not to get too far into it, Hitec RCD USA did the dev and specs on the Extra and when Multiplex saw it, they were impressed enough to distribute it under the Multiplex name as well. As for the use of the name Elapor, since Multiplex owns the rights to it I suppose if the Hitec plant's EPO met Elapor specs, they have the rights to call it Elapor. Right now Elapor is injected only in Germany, that's why MPX products are so pricey. That may be changing in the future but don't quote me!

With our 2700 4S we were a little over weight based on specs, but it flew fine and we OK'd it with Hitec first. 3300 would be even heavier so you may want to check with their support guys first. Probably be OK and I can tell you the landing gear would handle it no problem. Very rugged.

Great Review! A great competitor for close to the same price is the FMS/ RocHobby MXS 3D. I would like to see these go head to head.

I am ready to move up to the lower wing type plane and am not afraid of 3-d flying. I have done it on my Phenox Simulator so If I can fly it ok there I shouldnt have a problem. I like the one piece landing gear, there is a simular plane out there using magnets to hold the wheel skirts on. I know I would be gluing them on often.I also like the spring rear tail wheel.

In Europe we don't have much in the way of Multiplex connectors either. Most come with Deans, EC3/5, or XT60

that's a sweet plane,i want one, honestly though i thought it would be faster and have a more common battery connector on it,but just solder on a new one, whats another 5 bucks!

hi thx for the reply! so hitec and multiplex are selling different extra 300S`? on the european mpx-website they say that they´re using Multiplex ELAPOR sry for that EPO mistake.... that was my fault :) cheers

Hmmm. I like this plane, but it's funny I'm actually looking for another planes to fit my batteries instead of the other way around. I have many 2200 3S and I'm looking for a plane for them. This one is great, but it seems to be preferred for 4S. My 4S batteries are 3300, which are kinda big. Any other recommendations for the 2200 3S batteries along these same lines?

Never saw that connector in 40 years of electric flying! Airplane seems to make a lot of motor noise.

hi guys ,sorry but i have to ask another tech question. if a motor has 350 input watts, would it have the same output watts,i'm just trying to learn all i can about this stuff,it's very interesting to me,call me a plane geek eh!
