Made the mistake of posting mine that my grandfather said I could have when he died, fairly certain it is legit but not only did Reddit make me doubt but got conversation about Ethics, stuff like "i dont know if I would be able to own one of these... idk why anyone would want this." People who burned Nazi memorabilia after out troops brought it home (can't believe my great uncle brought home a PPK after being the only relative of mine to see real combat since he was at the Battle of The Bulge... the person in the trenches right beside him had his head taken off. But obviously more Nazi heads were taken as it were the Americans picking the Post-Battlefield for equipment/trophies, the SS Officer who didn’t need it anymore had my great-uncle pick it off his dead hip. Sadly my Great-Uncle passed away young via Brain Cancer. Fuck cancer man, I feel as if I don’t give it the fear and reverence it deserves. Despite watching it take loved ones. My dad had a real cancer scare and my mom actually had it but is completely free of it 100% SKIP this paragraph if you want, it isn’t necessary but an elaboration on cancer which isn’t what this is about. (idea is that you can make jokes about dementia (many other diseases like MS or dare II say Huntingtons deserve the same respect.Most all people have lost someone they knew to cancer, whereas not with others. But when it comes to just cancer, joke or tell someone you have it to mess with them, rare not being seen as Evil, socially cannot w/ cancer joke, feel bad I have. I've watched Dementia, both grandpas were taken by it so fuck me genetic-wise but even more scary is that my dad is about the age his dad showed symptoms. His brain is 100%, hope it stays that way or else I'll be gutted. It seems just as bad and honestly something like schizophrenia if far scarier to me and honestly sounds more painful emotionally.) Anyway when my Great-Uncle Died the gun went to his father/my great grandpa. It became the family gun. Everyone knew where he kept it and where the ammo was, all 4 much younger remaining siblings, and all grew anxious as he got real up there in years, which he really did do: lived 102 years. My grandma from him who I live with as retained at the very least 90% cognition/memory and she is 95. People always assume she is a decade and half younger as did a lady in an elevator today. She is smart and her idea for where the gun should go was a museum or donated to the Police station in his name to be upon the wall of antiques. My cool great-uncle (I have a Kar-98 bayonet, he also left me a Dali drawing) was very anxious about the gun. They all were and primarily wanted it out of the house. I'm fairly confident I know why beyond general anxiety, OCD runs deep within the family and will have you imagining graphic worst case scenarios incessantly, of which your control is severely limited. It will have you imagining shooter your loved one or committing suicide. Not because you want to but because you DONT. OCD makes you obsess over what disgusts you the most, common for a person w/ it when holding a knife to think how they could stick it in the loved one before them's back, and worse than blaming themselves for these thoughts and contemplating if they actually are evil for thinking it and even more scary is thinking you might or definitely do it. Farm more than germs OCD is, however that was my first obsession, vividly recall such at 4, imagining the floor as I walked in the shadow of the twin towers when they still stood buzzing, moviing with rainbow colored germs, like a layer of all maggots moving and looking like a solid mass collective, So the gun had to go, the less-cool great uncle of mine said NO to donating it to the Police. "They will steal it he said." Which is foreshadowing. Behind his older sister's back he went into her home (he didn’t live there) and took it, cool-uncle who also lived there approved most likely. He really wanted it out. So great new! Less cool-uncle just so happened to have a brother who he himself was an expert in firearms, as one would be making his Money as a Gun Dealer. His wife convinced him to lend it to him for safekeeping. The guy kept it safe... for like a week. It is reported back that the family heirloom (which the wife didn’t give a fuck about) has been sold. Gone. Didn’t ask or even give a heads up, my G-Uncles father's gun is gone. The Brother of the wife I'm sure fetched a pretty penny for a Walther with the SS engraving authentic. I guess he made like 2 grand which was a lot back then, plus the fact it only increased in value. So what does he do? He comes over to my Uncle with a box filled with workout equipment.... as I guess a peace offering or a "fair trade." My uncle didn’t even get it. He refused to accept it. Lol. So he made sure he really got nothing, no misc. used work out equipment, used workout equipment really goes up in quality lol. Box of a couple hundred bucks at best? And of course he couldn’t get that amount of cash by liquidating it. No, my Uncle (who spent 5 years preparing for Priest hood before bailing, a man who is always talking about morality) stole from my grandma and robbed the future family at large. He should have had the sones to demand it back although that likely couldn’t happen so he should have demanded the profits, of which the slimey guy would likely lie and onnly give a piece of if he even did that. What is enraging is what happened to the Nazi Ceremonial Sword and Dagger combo my cool uncle had proudly amongst his art he got all over Korea and Europe. Sadly that cool uncle died. My less cool uncle happened to see when he came over to look at what would be split up at my 10 y/o eyes were fixated on those two things. He leaves. Comes back later when my grandma isn’t home and retrieves them, diid the same shit again because he didn’t want his nephew to take "what was his." It was more my grandma's like the gun too as she was closer with cool uncle, made him dinner every night and was at his bedside when he was dying 24/7 when her sister "just couldn’t" see him when he was in his last days in hospice. Uncle wasnt there everyday. What pisses me off is that I know he doesn’t find knives nearly as interesting to me and I imagine they are rusting away somewhere whereas I would have made repair... only one to notice it was needed. (Have fond memories of my cool uncle always showing off those knives to me, as his only nephew he adored him I'd guess he wanted me to have them. Well like the Kar98 bayonet (worth extremely less compared to the other Nazi shit but irrelevant) was only saved from my Uncle's mitts because his brother didn’t show him the knife collection in a drawer in his room. Amused he didn’t get it.... technically don’t have it right now because when I was a late teen my mother took it and threw it in my Grandma's storage bin. Considering she is a hoarder... yeah not exactly an easy find. My dad and I are going to clear that out soon but in the past my grandma would only let us touch specific things, make it so an hour of work results in just one short humble pile. Thus ends the rant.

was looking at HJ knife the other day and it was a M7/112 Carl Wüsthof-Gladiatorwerk, Solingen the only thing throwing me off is that it has a brown scabbard, is this post war? repro? any information would be greatly appreciated
I am trying to find just the scabbard. I have an early HJ Knife with a very short ricasso. The maker is J.A Henckels.Solingen, Zwillingswerk. The blade is 5 3/8" in length and overall knife length is 9 9/16”. I appreciate any help on this.
Hello how are you. I found an old dagger in my house, on the blade it says solingen R.W and it doesn't say anything else, on the rhombus of the handle it doesn't have the swastika, nor any other logo, they have uprooted what was there. I would like to ask you how much my dagger may be worth since I have no idea how much to sell it for, nor do I know what year it is or if it belonged to the youth. Cheers!

I found a Hitler Youth knife for sale in my local market, was thinking of buying it but had second thoughts, it was dated 1938 I think, and had no ricasso, no motto, had a brass/gold diamond fixed firmly into it as the white and red was worn off from it, the end of the blade is slightly bent and all rusted to hell, would you say this is original? (he put it up for sale for £120 (around $140) but since it wasn't selling he lowered it to £40 (around $50-$60)
Considering the condition, it probably is original. You can't really fake rust when repro'ing a product, and when they do try to make it look rusty, it's kinda obvious that it's fake cause the rust color doesn't come onto your hands. So, most likely, it's real..
my hanger is from leather btw, and the hard piece feels like plastic? in know the knife is very old because my dad have it from the past when he was a child. (60 is he now)

i have the exact same knife, got it from my dad few days ago. The diamond ist on it anymore. it have the solingen mark on the begin of the knife. but nothing elks on the blade of markings. it looks so much the same as what you showed. I wonder if i have a HJ knife. I already looked for an new diamond to replace it. But cant find a new diamond...

Well, tbh, I have owned a couple, but you can't really wash them with sope and stuff. All you can really do is pick off the dirt, and polish it. If you want to take your chances of washing them with sope and stuff, go ahead and look it up. If not, what I said is pretty much all you can do..

Lots of those knives came to the United States in a bag after the war and yes many were damaged and someone made a handle for it I have a tiger model and I bought it of a ww11 vet who got it off of a dead tank commander I made a handle but not wood. Lots were also imported and sold as hunting knives with bone handles

Your scout knife was a youth knife at one time. After the was it was mandatory to remove the diamond and remove the moto if it was on the blade. The Red diamond was replaced with the blue and white like you have and given to scouts.
I believe you, but most of it probably fake. There is a limitless supply of ex-Soviet military clothing too, everywhere between Berlin and Moscow. In 1990 it was mostly real. Now it is mostly fake.

I randomly found one and I think it belongs to my grandpa but the one I have it dossent have the name on the blade and the handle diamond dossent have the swastika and the top of the diamond is red and the bottom is white and I have no idea if it is fake.

My diamond won’t move and mine’s unmarked except for the number 420 on the part of the blade where the rzm code would normally be. Shit it’s Marked Germany
Cant go wrong with WD40 if you have to clean. I don't use any oil or lube on the youth knives. If a blade is in bad enough condition a sanding block with 600 grit sandpaper will clean it up followed with semichrome to polish if warranted.
