Sedative poison has its uses. It's mostly for saving time when you need to get an item off a character by avoiding a trip to the bathroom. I mostly use it to save time in Whittleton Creek.
@@mystikast I don't remember the specifics but I remember one level where I needed to get an item off an NPC and the emetic poison made them puke in an area with no place to hide the body so I used the sedative poison to get the item and maintain Silent Assassin rating.
@@mystikast the clue one of the bodygards in Whittleton Creek. or the loveletter for the story mission in santa fortuna now with freelance it did get a BIT better as it allows you to get weapons from them but even now its soly used for guards as it still has no good use on targets
Unsilenced pistols can actually be very useful! If nobody sees you shoot, guards will rush to where the gunshot originated. As long as you planned an escape route and are gone by the time they get there, you just pulled all the guards away from their post for about a minute. Silenced pistol kills are a last resort since they feel kind of boring to me, so I mostly use them to take out cameras instead. So silenced vs unsilenced really just determines whether I'm slipping past cameras, or carving out a path of distracted guards.
@@Jrppegg No you can't. You can only use silenced pistols as distractions if people here the bullet impact, and they don't necessarily cause panic. Unsilenced pistols will attract attention from further away, and with no need to land a shot in a specific location. Plus, the game is about having fun. To some people, it isn't about finding the most optimized method.
Red tie kiwi has the special effect that it can distract 2 people. Or at least it had it the last time I used it, don't know if they've changed that since. Not that special but it was really useful in some elusive targets
I wish stuff like that had their special effects noted on the item, needing to find damage numbers of pistols and hidden special effects of items in comment sections and wikis is annoying.
It’s funny, the Druzhina 34 ICA Arctic used to be an amazing weapon since you could use the sniper assassin ammo types like Shockwave and Wall-Piercing rounds in the main game mode. From hero to zero I guess.
@@K3vin_L wall piercing is extremely useful since you can literally hit a target while being nowhere near them and they can be inside a building. the shockwave on the other hand is basically a silent way of breaking things for accident kills from a mile away and also knocking people on their arse.
Im pretty sure it was unlockable back in hitman 2 too (but it wasn't "broken" back then) and when they released hitman 3 somehow they forgot to disable the ammo switch
Honestly the sedative poison is amazingly useful and kind of hilarious when you use it in New York and Chongqing because in a few spots on those maps there are A/C units that can be poisoned and if you turn on the A/C in the associated room (security office in new york, and break room in the chongqing ica facility respectively) you can cause a chain reaction of people finding unconscious bodies and then becoming unconscious themselves until you have an entire floor emptied in just a few minutes while you do other tasks.
Dunno for China but in New York there is chloroform super close by so it's at least for casual playthroughs kinda redundant. (But It's nice that the poision is still in the game, variety won't make the game worse)
Reminds me of Outside Xbox doing China. Jane using the ethyl poison to kill Imogen but forgot to opaque the windows and turn off the ventilation system 5th non target killed "No, stop! Stop investigating the poison room please!"
@@CheeseAndCrackers_ But, chloroform bottles also function as impact sedative grenades so keeping them for elsewhere and using a normal sedative vial is useful.
This item isn't really supposed to be good, it's just a stun grenade for like combat playthroughs. But they should at least make it a bit stronger or give u 2 at once so u can use em a bit more that would be nice
When you PLACE the Red tie kiwi it attracts the closest person, period. That means that targets won't send their guards to investigate or anything like that, you are able to separate the target from the group.
@@wildgold the red tie kiwi is useful for boosting like with muffins or violins to get out of bounds and as of current is the only item that can boost you in the entire game, making it extremely useful for maps like Sapienza.
A lot of these unlocks are basically just about having fun or making it more challenging if thats what you want. Doing everything super optimal is fun at first but it gets kind of boring after a while. Which is why I found freelancer so fun because not only were the amount of silenced weapons available at the start super limited making me actually use unsupressed guns, but also the side challenges to get extra money made me do things I would never do in regular play like getting unsupressed kills, guard kills which is usually discouraged and other hard challenges like SA no firearms which really removed a lot of my crutches for SA like the dart guns and shooting out cameras whoch made it so much fun again
It hurts me to see the Red Tie Kiwi because could have been very useful if it wasn't destroyable for a throw. They also removed the squeak sound when stepping on it and that was a neat distraction to lure NPCs very close.
The crystal ball was made with a secondary feature that was scrapped.. if you threw it and it broke, it’s glass shards would be an accident kill. When Professional mode was made, I grinded for it, only to see the feature was removed 😢
That was never the case? The crystal ball was useful back in HITMAN 2016, because at the time of its release, it was the only unlockable non-lethal melee...shortly after, the claw hammer was made unlockable, so now it's only useful for style points.
@@theduckergaming4767 , If I recall I saw a leaked video in action, then when Professional mode released, it was the first item I grinded for.. only to see if was just a destructible melee item.. oh well.
Just want to note here that the red tie kiwi briefly got its time in the spotlight. They released a patch that broke the muffin clip, making it so that the particles of broken objects no longer moved you. For some reason the kiwi items still worked for the glitch even though almost every other breakable item no longer did. Luckily IOI actually likes the muffin clip so they put it back the way it was pretty quickly, but for a brief moment the red tie kiwi was one of the best items in the game.
For number 5, you can use breakable objects to go out of bonds. This includes tops of roofs. In the freelancer update they removed it but IOI said that they knew this trick and will try to include it back
@@chickenfriedrice8990 it's really famous in speedrunning and one of the reasons this game is so fun to speedrun. It's nice to see devs care bout speedrunners and including the fun mostly harmless bugs back in for them.
Great video! I agree with most of the items, but i miss one thing: the bat (a new bat and HF championship bat) i just don’t see the purpose of bringing it with you (in a briefcase!!!) to any map when you have so much other non-lethal melee options. Literally, the briefcase Itself were you smuggle the bat in is a beter melee than the bat itself😅
the arctic rifle was nerfed early on because it had a glitch where it could use the sniper assassin ammo (wallbang/wall piercing) making missions a literal breeze
As far as I remember red tie kiwi was very useful in certain situations because it is the only distraction in the game that lures two people instead of one
Agreed, there’s way too many useless items. The druzhina arctic took way too long to unlock (although it was useful for grinding featured contracts challenges back when it still had wall piercing). Nice channel icon by the way
But like it's not really a problem... I'm not saying that's what u meant but just adding. Yeah it's kinda weird having 20 smgs and have all of them suck but it doesn't make the game too much worse. (Also it adds variety to freelancer now so that's pretty nice)
What can I say, sad but true. I wish IOI spent some effort to overhaul our inventory and fix/remove stuff no one ever uses. Not gonna lie though, it feels good to actually find a niche use for a niche item.
1:49 I actually like the classic baller if for not much else than the aesthetic (plus if you do a kill everyone challenge if etc going quiet doesn’t matter) but the way you obtain it (through completing x amount of silent assassin challenges if I recall correctly) makes no sense since it means only really stealthy players will ever even get it completely alienating the kinda people that would like it.
Sure, but you can do that with multiple different items, silenced pistols as well and I don't think that's a good enough reason to exclude them from the list.
Pretty sure the explosive pen and explosive fountain pen are the very definition of a "joke item". There is one reason and one reason only you would ever use this weapon: it's unique and funny.
@@wildgold it would be way better if you could hand it to people that dont see through your disguise like walking up to them and just going "here you dropped this" then walking away and trigger the detonator
@@wildgold no i mean really just hand it to them the phone can still get picked up by the wrong person after thrown aside from that implementing some writing places could work like instead of poisoning a drink you rig an office table that explodes if the person using it sits down and activates the pen also i am trying to make it less useless so atleast give me some space to work in
The kiwi is such a strange case. Why would a rubber toy break when thrown? It makes no sense, but the balancing doesn't make sense either. One single use distraction vs. 3 multi use distractions? What's the point? In my opinion, it would be fixed just by making it not break, and being able to step on it when it's on the floor to make noise. That way, it has an extra use that justifies taking it instead of 3 coins. Maybe even make it so that NPCS stepping on it make noise too, making them stop to investigate.
The red tie kiwi is actually fantastic has it produces two different sounds when thrown, so it can attract two people to the source of the sound instead of one!
I wish they gave us a silenced classicballer. I saw a mod that changes the mk.2 silverballer to that, but it only works in offline mode, so it is kinda useless
Sedative poison is good, yet only good for the couple of ventilations throughout the series. If you want to remain silent assassin, you can knock out the guys in New York, whittletob creek, Bangkok, etc
Another one for the list: Throwable items which are suspicious when being held. Why should i take a baton, which will pull aggro, when I simply can take a fish or literally anything else laying around?
The molotov cocktail will always be a punch in the gut to the fans. The reason this games' replayability dwindles so much nowadays is because the fans have no fun way to kill targets. Personally this game is extremely boring, and if Freelancer isn't as amazing as it's hyped to be, I'm uninstalling it.
I agree about the non-silenced weapons 100%. Hitman is in no way a shooter. So when I see a non-silenced unlock pop up at the end of a mission I just roll my eyes and get frustrated I got an unlock I'll literally never use. It's even more ridiculous when you realize that you got to level 15 or whatever, just to unlock an un-silenced gun, that you can just take off of a knocked out guard anyway.
1:50 How dare you, I think this pistol looks cool. It would be awesome if this game had (craftable/temporary/breakable?) silencers you could find in the map to make some of the unsilenced guns useful. Like a terrible one could last for just a single shot or two, craftable from a soda can. Could be an interesting mechanic that would fit the style of the new game mode
The best use I've found for concussion weapons is setting off explosion accident kills. For example, the many scooters in Mumbai. However, it is much better to do this with one of the ducky weapons, as they don't raise suspicion and can be remotely triggered. So I agree with your ranking. For the Red Tie Kiwi, this has a very specific use. It will distract two guards at once to the same location. It's not commonly in my arsenal, but in certain contracts it is very useful. Though still not a great unlock. Sedative poison is really amusing to use in the fumigator at Whittleton Creek and the AC unit in Haven Island basement. However, I say "amusing" because it often glitches, causing you to lose Silent Assassin.
Well, not quite. Not many people know this, but Kiwi can distract 2 people simultaneously when thrown. It happens because Kiwi makes two separate distractions, 1st when it lands, and 2nd when it breaks & squeaks.
Concussion grenade is useful to take out the 2 guards next to each other on chongqing in the drone mission story. Easy SA SO and doing this stops the patrol
I don’t know if many people will see this comment but if you do the “useless” kiwi one use tools is know useful, I’m not sure if particle boosts are back but if it’s not then you can use the kiwi to muffin boost eg. in spaienza when you want to boost to the underground laboratory. I think it works as it breaks after one use rather then creating particles that are boostable.
The pen can be used when creating contracts to force people to use a loud explosive and not the beaching charge, but that’s the only use. You can set it it require the pen to get the kill, so silent breach charge doesn’t work. However, that’s the only use the pen has.
I'll be honest here and say this is pretty controversial. Some of these I can understand, but some I can't. I saw some of the comments here, and they explain the other stuff. Sedatives and Concussion grenades are good in freelancer. Sure it's not the base game, but it's good. Even though this was uploaded before freelancer released I'm just saying it. The ancestral fountain pen is good when you make a contract. You can really annoy people when you make it specified. People just bypass the explosive device kill with breaching charges. Breakable objects are very useful in speedruns though. Just being able to boost up onto places you aren't supposed to be in is good for speedruns. I mean Tuplapekoni a very good speedrunner and just uses these boosts a lot. Other smgs are cool too. They're pretty nice I suppose, and they can be useful at times. That's pretty much all I have to say.
red tie kiwi is actually really good because its the only item in the game (that i know of) that can lure 2 npcs at the same time. one investigates the poof of feather sound, and one goes for the impact sound
I like the system in hitman one where you could hold out most melee weapons or take them past frisk points, except for one use ones, in hard mode, it was a fun risk reward thing…
I wish that similar to the really big weapons in briefcases you could “breakdown” the bigger smgs which would take a second or two but then you could store them in your pockets. This would give them a niche that actually makes sense.
Or by making them count as accidents. I mean, who expects a freakin' grenade? Maybe give them a bigger blast radius or maybe make actually give you 5 or so. 3 would be fine too, but they are one time use. The shurikens I xan pick up again so I basicly am only limited by having to pick them up again every 3 throws. The grenades? Gone after one throw. I honestly dont mind the other breakable items, like come ln, they are there for shits and giggles, like snowballs, muffins, a fish and those things. I mean, who would seriously bring a snowglobe with them other than just for fun or for a game mechanic that attracts people through walls? Same goes for all those rubber duckies. Hitman ksn't a serious game, it can be if you want to, but it isn't hard to see the funny things this fame has to offer. From absurd lines that people start saying when you keep your choke hold going too long or the insanely dumb guards and targets. Like, on the Isle of Sgaíl there are the top 1 percent of people and those fucks still walk after every coin drop. The scared for his life and insanely rich Stuyvasant? Still bends over a railing ontopnof the highest building in the world for one measely coin with a skull and two silenced guns on it. I think there is a part of this community that takes these games way too seriously
@@wildgold I only used on first mission because i had objective to destroy cameras, not all that usefull but i had no choice, once i get any silenced pistol and emetic tranquilizer doing these will get simpler
Isnt the concussion grenade useful on hokkaido when taking out yuki and then immediately exiting? Although the magnesium is probably a better choice anyway
Silenced weapons are good for actually completing the mission "optimally" (I prefer SMGs myself), but unsilenced pistols like the Classicballer, Striker, or Bartoli are good if you don't care about Silent Assassin rating or have an escape route in mind. In Sapienza, you can take out the Twin and the Deceiver targets in the square or mansion by running to a crate. I took out Troutt with a Bartoli from the library and ran to a laundry room, and I took out the Twin in arcade mode with a Striker by the cafe stairs before hiding in the basement. To me, the most useless items are sawed-off shotguns or single-use melee items (either breakable or only good as weapons-I usually use the ICA Titanium Crowbar).
Remote On-demand accident kills are blatantly overpowered. Shouldn't be mad about that being patched out. Molotov being number 1 is clearly a salt pick on recency.
The arctic sniper was the earliest silenced sniper I could get in hitman 2, and it was a treat for awhile lol! Agree with it being far too hard to unlock compared to the sieger ghost :(
Items like loud weapons and destroyable throwables are nice for personal challenges. It's just annoying that there are so many of them. Same goes for the many reskins of actually useful items. I fully agree with sedative poisons though. It would be so much nicer if it would lead the NPC to find the nearest chair and fall to sleep without alarming anyone.
I use the explosive pen for contracts where the target needs to be killed with a melee weapon and the body has to be hidden, if the target is near a ledge I can kill him from a distance and the explosion will throw them away. It's a very niche use, but an use nonetheless
Nah, most of the single use melees have their uses. Things like the brick, soda can, and crystal ball have a certain silent attack animation that pushes an NPC forward. This can be used to get accident kills, which are normally harder to get. Example: Trying to push the painter down the elevator shaft on Mumbai. Kicking him down it will force you to stand up, potentially exposing yourself to any NPCs in the lobby, but if you use a soda can's silent attack to knock him down the shaft, 47 will remain crouched and thus reduce your risk of getting caught.
The concussion grenades in form of "rubber duck" are very good for opening doors! or taking out evidence recorders without being lethal! Also the explosion can be usefull to spook npcs or lure them away so you have a clear path for SA/SO :-D you need to train with them if you actually throw them to pacify the npcs you want... use Freelancer to train! Also that explosion is helpful if you want to "push kill" somebody into a water say in Santa Fortuna BUT to many NPCs can see it ... a concussion rubber duck is PERFECT for this situations! Trust me i did it a lot
sedatives are useful for ventilation systems but most maps have sedative near them, like new york, whittleton creek, chongqing and bangkok, so the two notable exceptions are mendoza and haven island both of those don't have a sedative on the map but have ventilation systems but yeah the tranq is so much better than the syringe that I've never used that one and I don't even see a use for it, the consumed sedative does have minor uses.
I find it funny how silent assassin is voided by someone being found who has fallen unconscious from sedative poison, but not a poison filled dart sticking out of their ass
I think the reason sedative poison is in the game is that it carried over from earlier games. Unlike in modern Hitman, if you go back to, say, Blood Money, you couldn't knock someone out by choking them, throwing a blunt object, or hitting them with one. To knock someone out, you HAD to use sedative poison. That said, there are a few scenarios where it is the better option. See, in the bank mission, you can use sedative poison to knock out the guards in the security room through the ventilation system. A very niche use, and the game only has like 3 spots where this mechanic is used, but it exists is my point.
Making the Molotov work as intended isn't a nerf. I don't know in what world you think flames traveling through ceilings or walls is anywhere near "working as intended."
Well, I agree that the other SMGs have little use, but the Dak has a lot of recoil, so if I was just going for a massacre instead of an actual challenge, I would go with the ICA Raptor, simply becuase it looks so cool
I think you did a good job and provided valid points, but many of these items are not very useful because it’s about the challenge. Some of them like the Druzhina are just plain useless, but many others, like sedative poison or unsilenced pistols are for the challenge. After all, Hitman is meant to be open to any approach, and the items help make certain runs more challenging than usual.
Hello, I torrented Hitman 1,2 and 3. I completed all 3 and really like the games. In offline Mode, you don't get Silent Assassin or any ratings. I am thinking of buying the full collection to play online, but I wanted to know if you thought it was worth it? I don't have any friends to play with. Do I get to do all the elusive targets do you know? I heard they are time-limited but they seem so cool and I want to do them all. If I don't get them, it seems Im only buying it to get the silent assassin display... Can you please offer any advice? Thank you! Love your videos, I've learned a lot about the game
I agree with sedative vial, but with syringe I don't believe you lose SA on body discovered. It also can cause a high level panic and allow you to run straight past enforcers. Tranq gun outclasses it, though; it's just not unlockable until hitman 3 missions if you're going for the whole trilogy in WoA. Kiwi can particle boost where muffins cannot anymore and has a place at top level speedruns. At least until muffins can particle boost again. Ancestral fountain pen is sortof a necessity in contracts if you're trying to make an explosion kill required without allowing players to use a breaching charge. The only alternative is not unlockable anymore. Molotov cocktails honestly ruined hitman speedrunning a bit for me, but my taste should never dictate what other people have fun with. Since its nerf I'd agree it's 100% the most pointless addition to the game. So really I guess my point is that ancestral fountain pen shouldn't be on this list, let alone that high, just because it actually does have a purpose and straight up adds an option to the game that wasn't there before. Everything else, yeah I pretty much agree with wholeheartedly.
I am mad they didn’t add a Sterling Archer skin. Now THAT would deserve half a year of earning up to! Especially if it makes it so you can’t poison alcohol, only drink it all down.
My legitimate answer to about 90% of these items being in the game; *Filler* , they had all said and done and had an inventory problem, it was too bare. So they added in tons of useless loud guns and one use joke-style melee weapons just to create the illusion of a more dense inventory selection upon briefing/planning. IMO they should have just added more stealth based weapons and gear, instead of all the items that genuinely have no real use. Example of my own: you unlock SEVERAL shotguns throughout the game, multiple different kinds for multiple different achievements, yet they have ZERO practical use within the scoring realm of the game's design. There is NO reward for ANY "loud and aggressive" approach to missions, rendering super attention drawing weapons like Shotguns basically gag-items. I love these games and have invested alot of time and energy into all 3 titles, so dgmw, I'm not calling the game bad or shallow by any means. I just wish they had added things like blindfolds or restraints for targets, or even a forget-me syrume which could've been injected into witnesses. Etc. The possibilities were endless yet I personally feel as though they took the easy route by programming more gag-items than real ones as mission rewards 🙄
Sedative poison vials' sole use is easy SASO on Haven by putting the whole server facility to sleep at once (the vial should feel lucky there are no sources of sedative poison on haven lol)
probably my biggest wish to have been brought from Blood Money is upgradeable weapons. seriously the walls in the safehouse should be covered in scopes, supressors, stocks, magazines etc. rather than all the random ass weapons i'll never use. i especially don't need mk 1,2 and 3 or different colors of items that work exactly the same... that whole idea only exists to get people thinking about buying cosmetic dlc's
They actually didnt change the molotov cocktail for balance the reason is because they found it to be a bit unbelievable that throwing a Molotov Cocktail at someone could count as an accident kill,
the red tie kiwi disappointed me because i spent so long grinding for it in hitman 2 just because i thought it was cute. Then I learned it was an illegal item in literally every map.
