the very first hitman I will not be buying. My -$60 message. Even if it was the flippin best of the series... they screwed the pooch with piecemeal. Arrogance or quarterly income report?

See, (in my opinion) episodic games can go 2 ways. Like telltale's games. They always do something good about the episodic feature. But that's usually because telltale's games are more of a real show with a real season, it's just that you can control it. Usually for a game that's mainly just a regular game but limited into different sequences (episodes) doesn't appeal to the fan. Which is kinda like the FF VII remake coming up. If this remake doesn't do much, then you can just go to the PS store and buy the original for 15 bucks. But I kinda am interested in the FF VII remake because sure, it's the same story, but, different gameplay. (Maybe Seforoph won't be so easy this time) But like I said, I can just go buy the original again of FF VII. But it's not that easy with Hitman. It's the same gameplay, (kinda) but a different story. What I mean is you might not get the best experience as the last. So I COULD go back and play the old Hitman titles, but it won't leave much for me.

***** the problem for me is that I'm essentially paying for a game that isn't finished. This is an issue that has been dividing gamers recently and will hurt the games industry in the long term. For example, SFV...many were outraged by the fact the game was released unfinished, and lost the little faith they had left in capcom and won't even buy it. More importantly, once I blow through the first two missions I have to wait a month or two for a new mission? It's kind of like they're trying to control how/when I play the game. I can't really see how this can be a good idea for anyone really, it's a lose lose for both company and customer imo. But I would like to buy this game...just not one mission at a time.

The game could jjust have been released in 2017 and you would have to wait for it, but they are giving parts of it to you so you can enjoy it sooner... If the hole game isn't here yet, it's because they havn't finished all the maps. And I think you can wait a month to get a new map... It's not like that was the 60$ game and all the other maps are 10$ DLCs. You can either buy the full 60$ game and you'll get the new maps as they come, OR you can buy the starter pack and then buy the maps you want and the maps you don't want, OOOOOR you can buy the starter pack and then the upgrade pack to upgrade your starter pack to the full game (and doing it only costs you 3$ more than buying the full 60$ game). Just be happy that Square Enix is giving us the game earlier.

+suraj pallar well, it's kinda like the original all the way up to bloody money. of course, being only 3-5 missions long is too short, but then again, its only 15 bucks.and the game has focused on the important part. compare that with far cry primal, for example, too much padding less fun, and full price. here if you like the franchise, you will enjoy the game, when the next part comes out, you will know if it will be worth it or not. at least thats how i see it. again it could be worse, it could be sfv.

People who pre-ordered either the full game or the 'episodes' are just paying to be the first ones to play them. They just call it episodic but it just feels like an early access in my opinion.

Eren Yeager Hitman franchise till HBM has been successful because of it's voice character Bateman, innovative gameplay, various locations locations around the word to play in and of course the music by Jesper Kyd. The danish music composer gave a mysterious and classic touch to all the Hitman games till HBM and all the Assassins Creed games till ACR. The music in absolution and Hitman 2016 is good, but it's not the typical Hitman game music, which was one of the key reasons for the franchise to be a hit. If HAb and Hitman 2016 was a Kane and Lynch game, then yes, it would have been an improvement on the music, not on the Hitman franchise!

Jack Liu Their excuse for episodic release was so that they could adapt gameplay as the game is developed from the feedback, clearly this is complete BS because patches exist and they didn't cite financial reasons. If it is a financial reason, it's simply because Square Enix doesn't want to foot the bill up-front and only pay as much as they need to for the development of the full game, it originally was going to be a standard full release.

Man!! That was my pet peeve, every level in this episode has generic English speaking NPC, zero ethnicity , Cuba, France all NPC sound exactly the same. Not one French speaking person. Sad because the developers are fucking European. Smh!

+clipsryan You can't be serious.. this paris level has already more kill opportunities than all BM combined- you could either accident, poison or melee/shoot and the accident was one strict location.

+clipsryan The episodic exists because the other levels aren't done yet. If you really don't like it, just wait a year until the game is complete. If they didn't do things this way you'd had to wait anyway. You don't lose anything. And whatever you say, the Paris level is larger than any Blood Money level. Easily. It's not larger than the entire game, but if they add 6-7 more levels there will be way more content than in BM. I played through BM again recently. It held up well but the new game is clearly better. The movement system feels so much better, stealth is actually useful, the amount of accidents you can cause is much larger, the mission preparation options have been improved, the AI is much more advanced, etc etc... I'm not saying that the entire new game will be better than BM, but the first level is a very good start. If they keep this up it will become the best game in the series. The only thing they really need to solve is the always on DRM, that's some BS on PC right now and will hurt the longevity of the game.

Because going by these numbers there is more gameplay to be had in the Paris missions without even entering the building. Or are you talking about the very first mission which offers no freedom at all and is basically the tutorial mission? Hell, I'll even list the Opera mission since it's a much more popular level: - 7 disguises ( Guard, 3 different colored workers, Bodyguard, Actor, Executioner) - 7 weapons (5 guns including the prop WWII gun, 2 melee weapons) - 3 possible accidents (2 using the bomb to drop stuff + swapping the pistol/using it yourself as actor) The Paris level has: - 10 unique disguises - 23 weapons (4 guns, 19 melee weapons) - I don't have a solid number on the accidents, but it is waaaaay more than 3 if you look at the challenges And we're not talking about the raw floor space, ways to get around and number of NPCs here. The Paris level wins there as well but there is no obvious way to measure that accurately. Seriously man. You can not like the game. That's totally fine. But stop spreading nonsense. It cheapens your argument. If things are really that bad there is no need to make things up. I got this info from the wiki pages, feel free to correct me at any time.
