I would have never considered myself an e-book reader but after my daughter became a toddler, she was tearing up my books, stealing bookmarks, running off with the books. I got a kindle and it changed my life. Best decision I ever made.

As a long (professionally) diagnosed OCD sufferer in treatment, thank you for highlighting the normalcy of experiencing obsessive and compulsive symptoms and discussing how OCD can present differently from person to person. If you think you might be experiencing OCD-like symptoms, it’s great that you’re seeking out information. There is a level of OCD symptoms that classify more as a personality type (diagnostically) rather than a full blown disorder, so that may be something to consider as it pertains to yourself as well.

I'm always excited to see another Simone St. James come out! I agree with you about this last one being a bit weaker than the previous couple, but still a good time!

Oh yeah, Hopefully people are starting to release OCD is a lot more than a plot point of checking the locked door. I have OCD and Social Anxiety and my brain will just replay and obsess over one little thing and continue to play out all scenarios ever of something for days. I do have to double check that I locked my door and turned my stove off but it's more like I don't know if I checked properly and if I don't consciously tell myself it's fine I will think about it to the point it disrupts my day until I go back to check on it. Anyway! That's all prolly TMI and I'll just be super anxious about it after I hit comment 😅 Great blog! Definitely interested in checking out You Know What You Did

Omg that feeling of being vulnerable and then immediately being like “great I’m going to ruminate about that for the next week” is SO REAL. Thank you for sharing ❤️ sharing personal experiences can be so validating & affirming for others! The “if I checked properly and if I don’t consciously tell myself it’s fine I will think about it to the point it disrupts my day” is SO relatable for me. If I close a drawer as I’m walking away and something is left sticking out a little bit, even if I’m in a rush I can’t just leave it. I have to go replay the same action but fix it and “check it off” in my brain or else “something bad will happen…?” Is what my brain tells me 😅

yeeesss that's exactly how my OCD manifests as well! After I got diagnosed and medicated my whole life changed. I was able to sleep, I could leave the house without feeling like it was going to catch on fire & blow up. Pre meds, the amount of time I had to turn around and go back home to make sure everything was off was RIDICULOUS.

I’m in love with my kindle, like in love 😆. I’m a 99.99% ebooks and audiobooks person. They’re just so much easier, faster, and more convenient

I’ve also been putting off getting a kindle for my whole life lol I’ve always preferred reading physically or on audio, but lately I’ve felt such a strong urge to get a kindle haha! I’m so excited for all 3 of these books so I appreciate getting your thoughts on them 👏

I hardly ever read supernatural except Simone St James, I agree with you I just like the way she does it. My favorite of her books is The Broken Girls, I cannot recommend it enough. I loved both timelines, but especially the post war era and what these girls went through because of it. It’s hard for me to commit to an entire historical novel, but I love how I can get some of that with Simone St James and it doesn’t feel classic..old..I don’t know, cause I know historical fiction can be powerful also, so I’m not shading that. She just makes it easy to read.

Honestly I am down for a reading vlog with a no nonsense intro lol I get why people make vlogs as they do but some booktubers make such unnecessarily LONG intros and it's like can we just get to the books please? Excited to see what you think about these selections!

In thrillers I like the older books. Anything by Raymond Chandler or by Dashiell Hammett. The Big Sleep and The Maltese Falcon are great. Best wishes.

I was the exact same way before about being an only physical book reader. Now audiobooks are my jam, but I like to read the books along with them. I just started reading e-books too. I bought a kindle, and my daughter has been monopolizing it. 😄😄

Pretty sure Murder Road is this month's Evernight box! The first two were super slow, and I skipped the third one. I've been hoping that the subscription would get better. I'm giving it until the summer book, and if I don't have something that I like by then, I'm canceling it

I DNF'ed Murder Road super early because I was not happy with the couple after they just casually considered running from the hospital and not helping with the investigation, even though they knew they could hold the key to helping the dead woman get justice. That just annoyed me within the first two chapters. I also got immediate "that's not how criminal investigations work" vibes 😅 Criminal justice professional problems. My patience is just so short for investigation thrillers

Thank you on touching on how different OCD is for everyone , i was shocked to receive an OCD diagnosis when I was 20, but as later found out that it's not only as the media portrays it as to be.... my behaviours and thoughts since i was a child made so much sense and I wish I knew sooner to better handle it. I would love it if you read some books about this topic in a reading vlog so i can get some recommendations

Ashley, you said you don’t like memory loss storylines. Did you ever read “Have You Seen Me” by Kate White? If so, did u like it? I’m trying to get a handle on whether or not I’d like “I Know What You Did” or not. Thanks!

Silence for the Dead by Simone St. James was a 2.5 star read for me. It started of good, and halfway through became convoluted and fell flat for me.

Unpopular opinion: I don't get the hype around Simone St. James. I have read two books by her "The Broken Girls" and "Murder Road" and both were 2 stars. Haven't read her other books and don't plan to.
