Hi my name is Ashley and I like to talk about books!
My favorite genres to read are mystery/thrillers and horror, but I also occasionally read a romance, speculative, or literary fiction book to mix it up. I love reading books but I like talking about them even more, so I wanted to create this channel to have another venue for book convos with readers!
I also host a bi-monthly 24 hour read-a-thon called the 24 Hour Horror-A-Thon, where readers can connect and read and discuss horror books each round. Check out the Instagram @24hourhorrorathon for details on the next round.

Im a new subscriber as of this week, and I've been binging your videos (esp the month wrap ups) and I love that you give your listeners room to still want to check out a book that you maybe only gave a 2 star or whatever, and I have made a few lists of ones you not only liked, but ones you didn't care for but I thought I might still like. Secondly, I am on break from nursing school over the summer, (well kinda, Im still taking two summer classes) but Im on break from being in school fulltime, being a single parent to a 2yr old, and working... so I don't necessarily have the time to waste on books Im not that into, and I know this is going to sound so weird, but I feel like these kind of videos you remind us that we can "taste test" as many books as we want without having to finish them. Soooo many people make you want to feel bad about DNFs but I have a short attention span and lose interest in a book if Im not completely emersed. I really feel like you've reminded me that I can try out 10 books and if Im not into 8 of them, its not a big deal, and keep vibing with the two I like. Like I said I know it'll sound weird lol but I just feel like you provide a bigger space for your followers to really dive into books we LOVE and just let go of and move on from ones we just arent feeling. Anyways lol. I love your channel. Keeeeeep them coming 💜🫶
I wanted to read The Stardust Grail until I saw the Content Warnings.. not sure why they have to put a few of those things in a SciFi book.. too bad because the synopsis sounded so good.. but you would have no idea about the CW from just reading the synopsis.
I have All This & More on my Library TBR List.. excited to see what you think of the beginning .. need to decide if I want to place a hold now or wait.
12:25 Elle Fanning is supposed to be in the movie for Margot’s Got Money Troubles movie. Hearing you say she narrates has me more interested in reading the book and watching the movie
Completely agree with your assessment of Middle of the Night: I'm really happy that he tries generally something different (even when it doesn't work for me) and am here for anything he does; but it's definitely my least favourite by a substantial margin (just because nothing happens, and it felt like it was being more of a character study, but the characters couldn't carry it, and I really dislike when a view-point character keeps foreshadowing the reveal of something completely heinous they did in the past, and then when it get's revealed it's like: that's not awesome....but moving on...?)
I liked middle of the night Until the ending, the ending felt flat and so underwhelming, it became meh and I absolutely love "home before dark" , which had similar spooky vibes .
Trying to make this not spoiler for anyone who’s never read but for heir of fire the new witch character you didn’t like must was genuinely one of my least favorites when she’s introduced. My best friend and I buddy read them all and for books we’d just text each other “ugh another ***** chapter” and then some how toward the end she became my favorite 😂 still blows my mind, can’t wait to see how you feel!
I have yet to read a Riley Sager book. I really want to but the reviews on them vary. Thought about MOTN but I’m not the biggest fan of a slow burn. Are there any of his books you’d recommend?
Oh MY GOD. I guess someone has literally written a book about one of my worst nightmares. The concept for Someone in the Attic reminds of those urban legends you hear about someone living in your cupboards or crawlspace, eating your foods and wearing your clothes, coming out of their hidey-holes when you leave the house.UGH. Obviously I am going to have to read this. Immersion therapy!
I wish Middle of the Night was an actual grief horror story instead of....what we got. I liked it more than you did but i agree it was very mid. the longer i think on it the less i loved it lol Also, i would love if you did a 'grief horror' recommendations list if you havent already, its a genre i'm realizing i'm loving but dont know enough books! ♥
I found Heir of Fire and Queen of Shadows a bit filler vibes but worth pushing through I think. I really enjoyed the tandem read afterwards. Just about to start Kingdom of Ash!
I've been wanting to get into Ruth Ware for a while but didn't know where to start. One Perfect Couple, sounds like a good one to start with her books. I always get at least one good recommendation from you! A quantum love story sounds interesting too
I think sometimes you aren’t in the right frame of mind for a book. I could not get into The Poisonwood Bible. A month later I picked it up and couldn’t put it down. Middle of the Night is on my tar.
I really liked the last 20% of Middle of the Night; definitely a slow burn! 🏕️ Manon is my favorite character 😆 Who is yours?! I love hearing different opinions about TOG! 🐉
I love Celaena when she’s in badass assassin mode (really liked The Assassin’s Blade) and I liked Nehemia and how she pushed Celaena to care about more than herself lmao
I feel like people are saving it for Summerween and/or got it through BOTM and haven’t gotten their box yet maybe? I imagine we’ll start seeing more reviews very soon!
I totally agree with you about Middle of the Night. I did give it a generous 2 stars. I think the storyline was boring for one thing. I will keep trying his books though. I have liked most of his other books.
Totally agree with your Sager review. Ugh. What a stinker. Also LOVED loved loved Ruth Ware's new book. Looking forward to Game of Lies. Macintosh's first book was very good. And going to give Elegy for the Dead a try. You never disappoint me. 🥰
Can someone tell me how these books have rating ,although they have not been released yet? Do these people have access to early copy releases or something 😅?
I am in awe that you can read 10 books in a month. I listen to audiobooks and still only get through 2 maybe 3 in one month. Back in the day when I read physical books, I got through one book maybe every 2 months, I'm a slow reader :/
