It's called power to weight and ⚙️ gesring. Though aerodynamics limit speed, 1000 HP via twin turbos, super low suspension and firm steering, 6 speed transmission and salt flat racing ring and pinion gears of 2.56 or lower will get you there. I had a 1980 monte carlo with 2.56 gears was capable of 150 mph.
Shear animal grunt is what's pushing that monster. Not much aero in old school car shapes. Ive pushed wind at 150mph plus on a bike with no fairing. That shit is hard at speed.
NOT condoning this: My friend had bought a Charger SRT8 and had it for a few months. He was taking me home after cruising around and punched it on the freeway entrance. He passed a CHP officer on on motorcycle writing a ticket. The officer just stood there shaking his head. No attempt to radio in, get on his bike... just shook his head as that black Charger tore past at 150+ mph.
Hitting top speed is a battle between drag and available power. Running out of "aero" IS running out of horsepower. However, the 'Cuda is outrageously awesome.
It takes "Balls of Steel" to go 208 in a Cuda! I've never heard of any pneumatic tires that are rated for those speeds. I thought I was gonna die, when I hit 140 in my 71' Cuda on the 401, with Nylon General Grabbers on the Rear! Back when I didn't know any better!
This seems reasonable, I’m an old guy and I remember doing 140 in my best friends moms 69 Charger in H.S. …..either that or I’ve gone batt shit crazy……………🤔🙈
That's impressive for a car shaped like a brick. Would be Interesting to see what a dodge/Plymouth super bird type wing car could do. If they did 200 on a nascrap track what would they do in a straight all out?
I remember my first time as a kid ever going fast in a car was in a Mazda millenia S-Type doing 155 mph which I had no idea that that car could reach that type of speed it looks like a regular family car it's a straight sleeper. 🤣
Need adjustable coil overs. More rebound on front shocks. Bring the front down and the back up slightly to create " rake" to help with areo. Also block up the bottom of the grille opening to decrease air pressure under the hood and open up the thermostat to keep it cool
You didn't run out of homies they just got in your way to look through the windshield! I've traveled at 145 mi an hour for lengthy period of time. That was a long time ago. I cannot imagine going faster than that. Man I can't even imagine going that fast again. Can you do it in a 50-year-old car congratulations. Okay we know it's been rebuilt with the most modern items but still, WOW 😳!
I remember that. That was done at Chrysler test track when testing the Cuda with V-10 viper engine only the aerodynamics of the Cuda is hard to push through the air with the open grille and then the trim molding was peeling off the top edge of windshield. Some of the Chrysler engineers were to help give advice on how to get a cuda- refrigerator to push through the air. Awesome video
Amazing that in 1970 Richard Petty in a 1970 4700 lb Plymouth Superbird did 203 miles an hour at Daytona a NASCAR track with 433 hp and 472 foot pounds
208MPH out of a Cuda? now that's damn impressive for a lead sled of the early 70s. that's a Cuda I'd seriously love to own. mainly just to piss off my neighbors. Lmfao
Get a splinter custom made for the front and a defuser for the rear of your car with under body airflow plates and take the spoiler off and you’ll probably get 230mph with 1000+ hp
The greatest Henry kudos ever built were the sixt 78 and 9 and 9 the seventies didn't have the real hemiengine they were nowhere near as good as your 7 dates and 9 but that is without question my favorite car I had 1 in 68 and I sold it what a mistake black on black and it was just magnificent the greatest car that was ever Built-in the sixties..
If a guy was going to top end a Mopar why would he do that with anything but a DAYTONA CHARGER ?????? The first car in Nascar to go 200 mph......52 years ago.....
"running out of aero"... yeah, reminds me of my much younger and dumber self pushing a Lincoln Mark V to it's terminal velocity, to find out when it gets near there it has some bad habits, like lifting the nose, ROCKING SIDE TO SIDE, and then settling back down.
I remember watching a Top Gear episode when James May (aka Captain Slow) took the Bugatti Veyron to a test track in Europe with a 5+ mile straight stretch of asphalt. I believe he topped out at 264 mph. Still slower than the professional driver did but damn if I would have reached 264 mph without chickening out. 😆 🤣 😂
Imagine if they built a first or second gen barracuda (64-69) & did this... the A-body Fastback Cudas are much more aerodynamic then these 70-74 E-bodies...
Meh, they moped, I mean mopar had to be super modified to do that. A stock ZL1 Camaro will do in excess of 200 mph from the showroom. Camaro ZL1 Top Speed Exceeds 200 MPH in Testing - ChevroletForum .
Ok... Plymouth made the challenger, Chrysler made the cuda... which now days gets confusing when the new challenger is made by Chrysler... guessing since they did away with the Plymouth line.. but why didn't they call the new one a cuda?? Better name if you ask me
Big red 68 z28 was smoking Ferraris in 1989 in the cyn's Top speed 227 mph. I forget the name of to race Its a 90 mile long race for best time Its some were near las Vegas
Damn that Cuda sounded like an airliner!! But definitely should have passed 208 easily sometimes you've just got to push the limits if you don't have the cojones then you need to find them if you've got a car like that, always you're not doing it any justice by having it
He probably did a weight reduction in the car and added cold air intake and after supercharger to make it go above 1000hp. Those cars weren't meant to go above 300 hp when they were made. Still impressive
Big balls I need just lower the body and used new balls to scrap the asphalt and make that Enzo find other way to make power its only aerodynamic difernce u got powerball . Just use
