10:02 There’s a much weirder way to solve this that I learned about recently: Walls! Set up a 3x1 pillar of walls as high as you want the signal to go. Place an observer looking at the middle wall on the top. Then, place a sticky piston 3 blocks away from the bottom wall, facing the pillar. Put a wall on it, and bam! Whenever the piston activates, it pushes the wall so that it’s next to the stack, changing the appearance of every wall in the stack in a single frame. The observer at the top picks up the block state change, and your signal has been moved up. Can’t remember if it works going downwards.

10:21 A nice way to make a vertical signal is a redstone torch pillar. Put a block at the bottom, place a torch on it, put a block on top of the torch, put a torch on that block (effectively making a NOT gate), and repeat the process until you reach the desired hight.
