Hitting balls and giving tips. My single plane golf swing has been developed over 24 years of teaching. Starting with studying the swing of Moe Norman and learning from Moe himself, to teaching for Natural Golf Corporation, and also Graves golf academy. I learned what works for myself and those who I have taught. The main point is to find your own golf swing instead of wasting years trying to exactly match another person's swing. I wasted a lot of time, but you do not have to. Follow my simple learning program to find your own Setup 4 Impact Single plane swing.
Visit learninggolf.tv to learn more about how to improve your game as fast as possible.
Kirk has taught golf for 33 years now. That includes many years of conventional golf and now almost 25 years teaching the Single Plane Golf swing. He taught for many years for Natural Golf Corporation, Single Axis golf, and the Moe Norman Single plane golf swing for Todd Graves and the Graves Golf Academy. He currently teaches his Single Plane Setup 4 Impact swing which has many similarities to all of the above. The big difference is that Kirk fits the swing to each individual golfer.
Kirk Junge currently teaches Single Plane golf fulltime in West Palm Beach, Florida in the Winter months, Cincinnati, Ohio a couple times per year. Other locations include Stockton, California, and Sanford NC.

Strange story,maybe not: After loosing too many balls I decided to stop going to the course and focus on range time. I bumped into Moe Norman and his swing and for the last 2 weeks I decided to focus on trying out this style. I had a hard time with shots thinning or fatting but with improved The knee work was a bit difficult on the long irons. Today I went to the range again and tried a more conventional swin still with the lead arm in the locked position I did OK with pitching wedge and 7 iron. Struggles started with the 4 iron. 2 Hybrid mostly thin but managed 2 really good shots, 3 wood mostly thin and a couple of good shots. I managed only 5 driver shots, not right but tighter dispersion than usual . 20 shots per club except for the Driver, because the range was closing. Low and behold on my way back I bump into this video, turns out someone figured this out. Thanks for the videos Kirk, I just became a subscriber. Chipping and putting wise I'm sticking with the Moe Norman style for now since I have never experienced chips and putts as straight as I am shooting now.

Thanks again Kirk. Just praticed the same setup with putting at home and I can see it's much more comfortable. So my takeways so far are lag arm in same plane as club shaft and set up for impact. Will be hitting the range this afternoon, let's see how it goes. I might be hitting the links again next week at this pace.
@billjordan1173

Since simply raising the hands a bit and holding the club more vertical at set-up (and perhaps standing a bit closer to the ball than normal), I've hit my irons and woods/hybrids way more consistently and solidly. Very few, if any, 'duffs' per round. Now the ball doesn't always go exactly where I planned, but it's closer than it's ever been. I've also found that holding the club more vertically to chip works like a charm. Usually, the toe of the club is grounded at set-up, but the heel is a bit off the ground, at least for me. Driver has been hit and miss, but I think it's because I haven't yet established how close to stand to the ball or how high to tee it. Point is, even if you don't set up exactly as Kirk describes, employing just part of his method might help you improve.

I am 100% agree. I am already going to change my swing with raised hands. No doubt about it this is for me. I feel like I will settle somewhere between this and Norman or Graves. Not sure yet there with the stance and knee flex or this way. I am so dumb for not seeing this sooner and struggling all these years with conventional.
@billjordan1173
@billjordan1173 4 года назад
@@JohnnyLREACTS I've also found that I use very little knee flex with this new stance, and standing straighter does wonders for the back.

@@billjordan1173 I am all in. I had my first lesson last week after 25-30 years or so playing on my own trying to figure it out. Just felt I could find it and money for golf instruction not top priority. But I wanted so badly to get better as I really loved the game. Could self improve on every sport I played and I play them all, but not golf. In fact I got worse this summer. It finally broke me. But after the lesson, two of them, I was left which such a loss of power and accuracy especially with driver. I just could not get the hip turn weight forward sequence consistant enough and find the plain. I also recall straightening out the hands the next day in practise and it felt so free, but also so weird like I shouldn't be doing it. Then my search revealed entire academy devoted to this swing philosophy and of course Bryson. This is the path forward. I even noticed my friend swing driver with such a outstretched stance and he hit it very well. This just makes sense.
@billjordan1173
@billjordan1173 4 года назад
@@JohnnyLREACTS I have a net in my basement and have tried everything but swinging cross-handed. Never tried lessons for whatever reason. Many swings have worked for a round or two, and then who knows what happens, and suddenly it becomes a struggle. I even did Kirk's method before, and couldn't get it to work consistently. But I think I was trying too hard to mimic what he was doing without really knowing what he was doing. When I saw another video of his recently (after once again trying to find the easiest swing for consistency), and he said to simply try raising the hands, that seemed to be the key. Yeah, might be able to hit it further with a different swing that brought more wrist and rotation into the mix, but it becomes so inconsistent, it's not worth the extra distance. Good luck with your game. I do think this swing, or some mild variation, is the one to go with for most 'weekend warriors'.

Hello Kirk. My name is Grant and I’m looking at your videos for the first time this past week and hoping to share in the success of your followers. I’m two days post op from left knee replacement and 16 months post op from my right knee replacement. I haven’t had much time to play golf with any consistency between the two knee replacement’s. I have been enrolled in Tom Saguto program (Saguto Golf)before and during all of this and was improving and hitting the ball farther than before but still lacking the consistency I was seeking. I tried one session at the driving range right before my surgery using your techniques and came away with a feeling like I needed to pursue this further after I’m recovered. Any advice you can offer on a double knee replacement student using your technique? Thanks for the honesty of what you are teaching with out all the bells and whistles of the new instructors out there, Sincerely Grant Bair

Hitting much better with irons, even fairway woods, but still enjoy the nagging slice with the driver. Also, in the videosKirk, it looks as if your left foot rises off the turf?
@Setup4Impact
@Setup4Impact 3 года назад
On the backswing my left heel comes up a bit which helps me turn a bit easier, and on the downswing the right heel rises. These are natural movements which you see in many of the top players in the worlds. Strengthening the leading hand grip on the driver may help get rid of the slice.

Do you setup the golf ball on the heel of the club face at address on your swing?
@Setup4Impact

I do this to account for shaft bend (droop) at impact. The shaft bends down which moves the sweat spot in closer than where it started. That way I do not have to compensate for that bend.

I've been trying Graves golf stuff and I found it improved my contact on short and mid iron shots. As I got into longer clubs it became difficult. I hit alot of hooks with the graves method and lots of thin shots. The only way I could avoid it was with the big lateral move into the bent left leg and this was difficult. I also found if I kept my right foot down, I would lose distance. I'm excited to try your modification of the method. Is it ok to sole the club behind the ball? Not a good idea for most people. There is a serious lack of good fitting options for the concept, and even when fitted many clients go back to their normal sets. Because of distance issues of hitting the wedges, 9 iron too long, and the 4, 5, 6 irons too short.

I am sure I am just in my head...however as a senior golfer my body feels so different from day to day and seems to affect how I transition in any given day. This obviously creates inconsistency. Any thoughts /tips on how to make transition more consistent?

@gordenscottfan3107 4 года назад
All us old guys go through that, one day feels like we are hitting with an arm swing, next day just turning a body swing??? Even the best pro golfer in the world fights the similar problem, that is why they have their instructors around most of the time or a caddie that knows their swing added to the fact they hit balls almost everyday if for noting else but to keep their swing the same as much as possible.....that is why different players win almost every week because NO ONE is 100% consistent......ask yourself how many times your swing changes from that front nine 37 to that back nine 47..it's golf. Kirk is giving everyone a way to at least get the setup constant so you have a place to regather when things go crazy......

profiledude...I have found during lessons and schools that many people respond well at the transition by maintaining a light grip pressure (keeping the hands and forearms relaxed during the transition). This light grip pressure requires you to start the downswing (without hurry) by lower body rotation rather than pulling first with the hands and arms. Give it a try and good luck! Would you still change ball position if you have single length clubs?
@Setup4Impact
@Setup4Impact 3 года назад
Yes I certainly would do that. This is also what Bryson DeChambeau does.

Kirk, I have a question about the hands. How active are your hands when you are coming through impact? Is there a lot of rotation of the hands to release the club properly?
@Setup4Impact

The hands are setup so that they do not need to rotate in order to square the clubface through impact. So getting the setup correct is key to being able to let the clubhead square up and stay square longer through impact.

The driver shots looked good as far as I could see them, but I’m wondering how far are the drives carrying? Thanks.

I hit the driver around 260 carry without help from wind. How far it rolls from there is up to the course conditions.

Too close to the ball. Try to hit more toward the toe for a few shots.

Ha ha how funny is this. This guy has cracked the golf swing yet instead of dominating the PGA tour he is hitting balls in a field🤣😂😂🤣

Glad you have a laugh. Let me know how many 57 year old golfers you see dominating on the PGA tour. I haven’t played tournament golf in over 20 years. Figured out this amazing method only in the past few years. It can help anybody improve. If you don’t practice on a driving range, then where do you go?

@@Setup4Impact 57 year olds can always join the Champions tour. I can see why you haven’t played tournament golf in over 20 years. You must hook up with Mike Malasks. He also cracked the golf swing after quitting tournament golf🤣😂🤣
