nice to see a nitro properly tuned on youtube for once. So few people realize how simple and reliable nitro can be. Some experience from one actually interested in the mechanical side of rc goes a long way.
It helps that it's a decent engine as well. So many people get one of the Traxxas TRX 3.3 equipped models or a something with a super cheap low-quality engine, have trouble with it, and then end up thinking that all nitro models are like that. I've never had issues with any of my Dynamite Platinum series (SH Engines) engines, but I've had plenty of trouble with Traxxas engines and the piece of crap that came in the old Kyosho Inferno US Sports Readyset back from the mid 2000s.
@@AMain_Hobbies yeah, its more fun to drive with better tires. But I would like to regulate it so people with most tires in the backpack don't automatically win. Perhaps not go for the softest ones around, but allow for something that is still better than what comes with an RTR car, yet can stand up for a couple of days racing. I would also allow for oil changes in diffs and shocks, also changing springs and such.
Awesome move with the starter box, glad to hear you ordered your back plate. Next upgrade should be a head warmer, Tyres and servos!! Love the work Brett! Keep pushing nitro
Have this Buggy and upgraded it nicely, it was worth it for the learning experience of doing so. Now Looking at Kit versions with more educated ideals; glad I started with "this" RTR!
@@AMain_Hobbies Looking at Mugen and Kyosho,. By upgrading my MP9 RTR I've bought time to continue learning/experimenting with chassis set-ups, tires, differential and shock fluid viscosity's etc. and I've started to go racing with it too. A-Main Manufactures Cup @ Chico this year was my 1st. Got my Butt kicked as expected but Wow What FUN! My upgraded MP9 RTR was track capable even in the hands of a Rookie. Getting rid of the pull start was "key", it probably added 10% HP but most notably "unleashed" top end RPMs'. Thank you for doing and sharing these videos.
You raced at our track!!! Your a local then, or somewhat local. Glad you could come out and get a race in on your buggy. Really happy to hear you getting track time on your RTR and taking your time to gain the experience and knowledge. It's a good path. Let me know if you ever need anything. -Brett
You do such a great job doing these videos I love watching you working your magic! I’m now a very happy owner of the Hoss and now just a few days ago a very proud owner of the Kraton 8S 😁thanks to you🤙🏼
Bret, man you really should have INFORMED US that the starter box rubber wheel needed to be raised. The Kyosho RTR is too high. It was driving me MAD. Just a suggestion thanks for the videos. Keep up the good work. Thanks to you AMain for offering all our RC needs.
Hmm, the wheel should not need adjustment. If it does, it may not have been assembled correctly at the factory, or there is an alignment issue with the vehicle. Happy you fixed it though and got it working properly. -Brett
Bert, it took me a while and thanks to other Kyosho MP9 Owners for the suggestions. My first time was not good on the track LOL. Damn near passed out because of heat and lack of preparation. Can’t want to get back out there. I don’t know how you guys do in the triple digits. Peace be with you.
@@TrashMan2008 Excellent. Glad you got out there and gave it a go! Driving nitro in heat is definitely a good way to feel scorched. Hopefully many more cooler days at the track ahead! -Brett
I just wish I didn't live with neighbors all around and a thin parking lot with pure cars parked. So I will either go 3d helicopter lol or inferno mp10E just came out.
Hello, I have a question about starter boxes, which box would you recommend? The Kyosho multi starter pro 2.0 box, or the protek sure start? I’m gonna be using both boxes for a Kyosho buggy
The servo circuitry was not made and designed to cope with the high voltage, so after a while, it burns up. The servo will work on 7.4V, but will fail prematurely, compared to using the servo on 6V. A high voltage servo is made with a more robust circuit board and motor to handle the additional voltage, and heat that comes along with it. -Brett
Wouldn't a jumper wire been easier that cutting and soldering? Plus now you are limited to just one battery type versus have options with having the 2 connectors. Or am I over thinking it?
That could be a good option for some. But most new folks don't have an extra connector and wire. We just figured if you go with a single 4S right from the start, there is no need for anything else. But a jumper is a good option. -Brett
Interesting. I was informed by Amain staff awhile back that the Kyosho KE21R, KE21 or the KE25 engines DO NOT have available sealed backplate options yet here you say you have some on the way?? This I have to see.
Until recently, the backplate has been available to AMain Hobbies. But, we have some on the way now. Here is the preliminary product page if you want to bookmark it: www.amainhobbies.com/kyosho-back-plate-set-kyo74019-09/p1002074?r=0 -Brett
Yeah, come race with us! It's called the Silver Dollar R/C Raceway. It's the AMain Hobbies track. Heres the track site: tracks.amainhobbies.com/silver-dollar-rc-raceway/ -Brett
those look so cool, I got injured skateboarding like a year and a half ago so while recovering I got like introduced to BangGood.com, and hobby sports, so i got a 1/10, NITRO RC, Shcokwave (redcat racing) it's awesome but this 1/8th kyosho look nice !
This ReadySet is an awesome RTR buggy. There are tons of parts available as well to go to extreme basher, or competitive racer. It's up to you. But it Braaaps hard. Hope you're all recovered and back on the board dude! -Brett
This is a great little charger (i like the touch controls too): www.amainhobbies.com/protek-rc-prodigy-680-touch-ac-lipo-life-ac-dc-battery-charger-6s-8a-80w-ptk-8513/p260579 To charge the receiver pack, this lead is the way to go: www.amainhobbies.com/protek-rc-receiver-balance-charge-lead-2s-to-4mm-banana-w-4s-adapter-ptk-5319/p244687 Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions. -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies great, thank you for your reply, im trying to gather everything, and a car to the cart, what kind of nitro gas do you recomend for the mp9 tki4 RTR buggy
Performance is pretty peppy, but fuel mileage is not very good. You could use it for fun racing, but I wouldn't try to be a serious racer because of the low fuel economy. -Brett
No other buggy is needed. You can just swap out the engine for something more race oriented. A ProTek Samurai, an OS Engines, even a SH Engine will all provide increased mileage. There are a lot of engine options for a variety of budgets and competition levels. -Brett
Also, AMain Brett, the product page on for the SureStart is stating two, 750 motors; not two 775 motors as stated in the video. Did the product change?
@@AMain_Hobbies Actually, you were right! I ordered and received the SureStart about 3 weeks ago, and the motors are actually 775's. AMain's product page should to be updated.
Yes sir. It shouldn't cause any issues as long as the one-way bearing in the pull-start holds up. We may not even put the back plate on our engine if it holds up. We'll see. -Brett
No. The backplate we purchased was incorrect and did not work. Kyosho doesn't sell a backplate cover as far as we know. People have commented on these videos about a Duratrax or Dynamite plate intended for a different engine, that fits. I do not know the model number though. We left the pull start on there and it's still on there today. Good luck finding one. -Brett
For bashing around and having fun they're both great. But if you want to go on the race track and have the best performance, the MP9 will be better suited. -Brett
It's the Silverdollar R/C Raceway in Chico, Ca. Here is the track site if you want to check it out: tracks.amainhobbies.com/silver-dollar-rc-raceway/ -Brett
Hi Edward. We are experiencing a high order volume right now so orders are shipping about two days after they have been placed. Hope that helps. -Brett
@@edwardacosta6142 Congratulations Edward! That's great news. The buggy should ship out shortly. Sorry for the wait right now. It is not normally like this. I hope you get your new buggy soon! -Brett
There word braaaap is only for pwc's (aka jetskis for the people who dont know) a annoying weedeater is not worthy of the word braaaap lol. Jk nice video
@@AMain_Hobbies Hey I hope it doesn't but lets be real they nitro cars you can get are Chinese junk you can't get parts for or ridiculously expensive racing kits that are out most peoples budgets.
Because it's easier to start the engine that way. It doesn't matter if there is a pull start or not, you can still use a starter box on this platform. Why not make it easier on ourselves? -Brett
To much crap to do just to start a loud ass weedeater! You cant run up and down the street in a neighborhood without pissing everybody off.Just buy a Kyosho MP9E with a 4s lipo with proline badlands and call it a day.
