My son hits bombs in BP great contact BUT in a game nothing strike out after strike out then a weak ground ball to the pitcher (Frusturating) I watched another video on this and it mentioned mechanics, but the more my son and I practice i realize his load, hands, stride timing everything is fine. Then I found your video and he watched it then we had a talk about what this video means, so I told him take a positive approach to the plate say I'm gonna smash this ball and boy did he do it next game. 5 for 6, 2 balls off the fence 4 RBI'S then the next weekend hit his first home run the kid just exploded his game unbelievable... Thanks John great video..
hey man, thanks for making this video, I'm acctually having problems mentally and with my speed, but not only when I'm batting at the game, also when I'm playing on the field
Awesome video! i have seen so many of these videos where the coach only talks about it from a mechanical standpoint instead of the more likely issue of having the wrong mindset. keep it up john!
I’m playing freshman baseball now after coming from city ball and I think some of my issue is the fact that pitchers could actually pitch something other than regular old strikes and each pitch is different. I wish there was a batting cage that made each pitch different to like condition me to easily be able to hit.
Its your mentality because you think of alot of things i know the same thing happens to me i hit a foul ball into a back of a pickup truck on a foul ball it was crazy to see for me to happen
In pro baseball most games start at 7pm. So, a guy who is a 5 o'clock hitter is a guy who hits well in BP (at 5) and a 7 o'clock hitter hits well during the game.
the younger players like the coach's pitch because they know that the coach won't hit them. Kid on kid pitch the child is afraid that they will be hurt. Thus slowing the swing and just freezing up
lol welcome to baseball. I'm 14 went to see my old coach's son play as a junior in Highschool. I told him I could easily hit these pitchers they're only throwing 75-85. Why aren't they all crushing these pitchers? He told me well it's the same thing that probably happens to you sometimes which is true. Some pitchers seem slower than the fast pitchers you've been tearing up, which is why all these kids are struggling to hit 70-85. They rather see pitchers 83 on up. In order to be a successful hitter in baseball you can't have a defensive swing at the plate especially at really fast pitchers and slow pitchers. You have to have a mentality set to hurt this pitchers feelings and to send him crying home to his mama saying I don't wanna pitch anymore... But don't be overly aggressive bc if you are then you put everything you have into your swing, your eye level changes, mechanics are out of whack, and you miss the ball or ground out. Calm with the body and aggressive with the mind. You have to be saying your the best hitter out there even if you aren't. Also go to baseball games, pro, college, highschool, and assuming you play select ball, time out the pitches. Every pitcher time it out of his hand and when it crosses the plate... Ex: One - two. Onnnnne - Two. Or One Mississippi - Two. Etc.... This helps you know the speed of how fast he's throwing and helps you time it out. Hopefully I helped. I've had the best 2 years of my life hitting like this and still have lots to learn so ask around and see what other people think
Great video jefe (chief) having exact same problem, my son 12 years old in 7th grade, playing high school freshman ball, is totally wacked out by the distance, in the cage he murders the ball, but in the game he is too early, jumping at the ball, most of the time hard chopper to 3rd base, he always puts the ball in play even with good pitching but, I know he hits better, , yea I think its mental, thank you
