Just letting everyone know that this new miner will be able to record during the night as well. So it will be extremely useful to upgrade to this model if you’re working at a shipping carrier or taxi service. Because of the fact that you can record mapping data for more than 8 hours a day.
So the Bee can RECORD at night, but not EARN at night, correct? As for using a dash cam for a taxi service, a dual camera would be best...One that records both inside the vehicle as well as outside, and do both equally well at night.
I switched to the new one and so after doing the math imma get 3000 coins bonus X 0.20=600usd and I’ve only spent 607usd so pretty much a free camera I’m happy with that and I’m hoping HOPING it comes in or gets sent by May
I'm glad people are buying this so I can get my base models sooner. Seems to me buying some used google pixel 3 and adding helium makes more sense. I have 2 on the way so this makes more sense to me.
I was half asleep so my comment doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I ordered 2 base model cameras and I plan to run them in a family member's car. They aren't very tech savvy so I plan to use 2 phones that I will leave in their car with helium mobile plans. I can remote into the phones from my desktop. Anyways I hope this will work but I'll have to see. The biggest issue I see is keeping the phones charged and cool.
This new Bee model looks promising. Ive been Mapping since December 2022 with the standard HDC. Im currently on my 3rd replacement lol. The first one had major GPS issues, the second one overheated and died, and the third one has been flawless lol. To Hivemapper's credit though, customer service has always been very responsive and was quick to replace my units. I did add my own fan which seems to have really helped things. Im hoping the Bee has better cooling abilities and is truly set it and forget it. Although my 3rd HDC has been much better its still far from set it and forget it. It's hard to complain though since it has paid for itself many many times over!
Re: Your survey: Ordered HDC at the very end of their highest incentive program (like end December 2023/beginning of January 2024, don't recall exactly). Don't know how far out the delivery is at this point, but switching to the Bee would add an additional 6 months to delivery, so I'm of the stance that "a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." Just by keeping my order, I profit from the airdrop alone.
For all the BS that original HDC-S owners had to put up with, Hivemapper should allow OG -S owners to swap the original -S for the Bee, and refund the difference of the $650 we paid. HDC-S owners have been hosed. First the 15-month delay in receiving the HDC-S, then the video recording feature didn’t (and STILL doesn’t!) even work. Insult to injury to original HDC-S owners. Basically a 🖕🏻from Hivemapper.
Thanks for the video. ive got another orginal dashcam on order, due in March, they offered me the choice to upgrade my order, but as far as you're aware will this not ship until Q3 if I upgrade?
I currently own a HDC-S. I kept my HDC order placed in early Jan and placed a separate order on Bee, so I expect to get HDC earlier than Bee and I can probably map with 2 cameras for a period of time before the Bee arrives. Then after Bee arrives I will probably replace it with my HDC-S and maybe sell the HDC-S online or to a friend
In my honest opinion, I don't believe the lte will be limited to helium. My type-s uploads images off Verizon while driving just saying. But with that you may have to add it to your cellular network to upload images? Being concerned about lte's shouldn't' fear buyers from purchasing. Helium is just used to help with GPS
I just found out about this project. Annoying how they are sold out of all models and I have to wait for this bs. I deliver like ups and these 2 cities I deliver in are untouched by any hivemapper. Just losing data they could get from me by not having stock.
Just ordered the LTE. I could see Helium make a deal that hivemapper users get unthrottled unlimited data but just not receive mapping rewards. Should cover a bunch more data consider MOBILE price.
I’m just saying so I got in before new years so I’m getting 2500 coins for free once I drive 250km Which if I paid 500aud for it and after the math the coins worth pays for it so a free cam and it comes in like a month or upgrade and yes might do better video recording for longer but then I gotta 1 wait probley a few more months to get it and 2 still have to wip out more money for the cam but would get an extra 500 coins but still would be in the negative but not by to much would just make it back Eventually but still is waiting for it really worth it by then the reward could have gone down or getting this camera early in a month is a gold mine and could be the Best time to mine while alot of peoples would still be waiting
Agreed. Like the point of ordering before the new year was to get in early. Now you'll just be getting it with the rest of the sheep. Reward will be so low.
These old dash cams don't arrive until April. Thats coniving of them to do a faster phase 1 shipping over previous purchases. I will get a full refund this is like helium 2.0
Frustrating. Send payment. Wait a long time. "Hang on, it's gonna be great!" "While you're waiting, how about an upgrade?" "Well, I dunno...will the upgrade to the never-received original involve again waiting so long that the upgrade gets upgraded?" Cuz this could get weird.
I fell for the "While you're waiting, how about an upgrade?" BS when I upgraded from the HDC to the HDC-S. Dumbest move I could have made. I ordered my HDC-S in June 2022 but didn't receive them until September 2023. Yep, I waited over a YEAR for the damn things to arrive. Had I kept my OG HDC order in tact, I could have started mapping in November 2022 when they first started shipping. By "upgrading", I lost out on the opportunity to map THOUSANDS of Honey tokens while I impatiently waited for my HDC-S' to arrive. Even worse, the damn HDC-S models didn't even work right once I received them! You couldn't map and record your trip simultaneously, which was the entire purpose of buying the HDC-S model. In essence the HDC-S was a 2X-the-price HDC with no added benefit nor increased token earnings.
