As ever, a thoroughly detailed review from Sportsbikeshop. One thing I don't recall hearing your opinion on was regarding wind noise. Is this something of concern on this helmet?
It wasn't a particular concern with this lid on the V-Strom I rode, but there are so many outside influences on noise that it's impossible to be definitive on it. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony
Was considering this helmet as a possible replacement for my Shoei Neotec due to the peak and it being a flip up style. Did you notice any annoying vibrations from the peak or serious drag from the peak more than other helmets of this style? Thank you for the information.
It's a good while since this review now and it's difficult to remember. I think a Schuberth E2 (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SvbLOjm9Shg.html) is a more likely match for your Neotec in terms of quality, but of the cheaper options in this style, I think the C80 is similar to most others in terms of vibrations. Most peaked helmets I've tried suffer from vibrations, which mainly translates into noise rather any movement of the head. I seem to recall the C80 being the same. I hope this helps. Cheers, Tony.
Apologies, I'm not sure what part you mean. We've made a how-to video for the C80 peak, visor and sun visor that you can find here... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VA6h6ewfhIM.html Beyond that, I can't be of much assistance. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony
@@thorgrim1989 Ah, OK. I've not worn them all so I can't give a fully detailed ranking. Of those I have worn I'd put the C80 behind the Schuberth E2, Nolan N70-2 X and the Caberg Tourmax X. I hope that helps. Cheers, Tony
There are only seven flip-up helmet models with peaks on our site. Here's the list... Caberg Tourmax: www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/193774 LS2 Metro Evo: www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/425626 Nexx X.Vilijord: www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/476921 Premier X-Trail: www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/423187 Schuberth E1: www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/255245 Scorpion ADX-1: www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/476971 Thanks for getting in touch and I hope this helps. Cheers, Tony
I didn't even know of its existence until you posted this comment! That's a new-for-2025 model so I'll get out and review that as soon as we can get our hands on one. Cheers, Tony
Thanks I purchased this from your site , I’m struggling to find a camera mount for this helmet now though , would like a chin mount , any suggestions ? Thanks
We don't think a clamp will work with this chinbar (it's too thick around the rim and would obstruct the lifting switch), so we'd suggest a self-adhesive mount to either side of the chin vent and then angling the camera to point forward - though it depends on the camera you're mounting. Cheers, Tony
I wore the same size helmet when reviewing both, but I found the fit less comfortable for my head shape with the C80. Best to check in advance if possible. Cheers, Tony
Not everyone wants to ride with the chinbar up, or open. Flipping is still useful at traffic lights, or when you want to speak to someone. Cheers, Tony
I've decided it's way too complicated to cover wind noise as what I think is deafening/noisy/fine/quiet/silent on my bike on the day that I ride may well be completely the opposite for you on your bike on the day that you're riding. Cheers, Tony
As a former Shoei/Schuberth owner, if you want a good flip-up, give the extra 100 Euro and buy one from Schuberth or, for the same cash as a HJC, a Nolan N100-5. The helmet is big as f..., the peak is hell above 80/90 kmh (KTM990 Adv) ad the mictometric ratchet is sh""t. You must re-fitt it after almost every ride. Otherwise you risk on loosing the helmet in case of a crash. So hell no. If you never tried a good helmet, my comment will be an insult to you, because you love your c80. My bad, don't mint my "bitter" opinion :D
Interesting to hear all experiences. I'll second your opinion on the Nolan N100-5, which I find an excellent helmet. Thanks for getting in touch. Cheers, Tony
