Really really like it! Just wish it didn’t have an integrated sight and still had the big gas block. Also wish they still sold the old one.

I dont know anything about building airsoft guns, but would you be able to switch the RIS with the old one to get rid of the built-in irons? I agree with you, not a fan of the flip up, I like the old style look. I also like the old buttstock more lol

I have this thing in a really nice metallic dark tan, and it’s my go-to primary for outdoor. I can say as a user and collector, best primary I own.

From what I understand, the slanted mag well will allow you to use K120s and other mags of similar designs compared to the older models to where it wouldn’t fit since it’s straight which was built for standard USGI mags.

they control the flow of air released by the poppet. the bigger the bore of the nozzle the higer the fps at a given pressure set at the regulator. This in turn also affects the efficiency of the system as a bigger bore nozzle will need less pressure to achieve higher fps using the same poppet.

*Those are only for the Fusion engines btw. You CAN get nozzles made with custom length and bores (your mileage may vary) for other HPA systems by contacting the manufacturer directly. Also if you do want max air efficiency for a FE setup you need a Red/Amped Purple+ nozzle and a gold poppet.

to circumvent the battery space situation due to the inline fuse in the buffer tube on my avalon calibur cqc, i simply invested in a PTS eps stock. plenty of space for any size battery, and it also keeps the wires and fuse mosfet untouched and in pristine condition. simply do that with ur 416 or avalon people!

Thanks for all the detailed info about the internals of this gun. Great review! I am comparing this with the VFC Avalon Gladius 2018 model. Is the Avalon Gladius using the old Gen 1 Mosfet internals? I noticed on a lot of the listings they specify not to use an 11.1v lipo over 15C. Is that because of the Gen 1 Mosfet not being able to handle it? Can the Gen 2 Mosfet handle, say, an 11.1v 20C?

That tan color scheme looked sick! All black is always amazing in my opinion. However, that color of tan was beautiful and I'd opt for Tan.

I dig it. If I can't effectively use a set of flip-up irons though, that'll be a bummer. For some reason I still like the old style 416 more aside from the magwell.. I will certainly miss it.

I've had one of these in the UK since May, and its performed flawlessly. Worth the £430.00 (GBP). Im guessing that mine will still have the same internals? Or did they change them for the US market?

Same internals, although it either has an M85 spring from the factory for the UK market, or your retailer would have swapped the spring for something else. They usually do anywhere between 270 and 310fps

jonathan, one thing, in the German reviews of HK416A5, was showed that it is possible to replace the spring without extracting the GB through the stock guide.

the guide says nothing about spring change sadly, there is a way but you can damage gearbox or stock when doing so

Two issues that I have noticed? No 'M-Lock' attachments -- only picatinny and it doesn't have a Deans connector -- only OLD technology Tamiya. Those two things are holding me back at the moment. Are there 'work-a-rounds' for the rails, how hard is it to change things over to a Deans?

Pretty easy. Snip the wires, solder the wire to the dean connectors, put rubber shrink tube over the connector and you are good to go.

Ive got this one half year ago and also mention: it’s takes far more mags and the VFC Qmag makes the replica more light than the original mags. It’s a bit lighter in weight than the 416 D2 and more like the 416C

Jonathan i was wondering why some people prefer a 6.03 mm inner barrel over a 6.01 mm one and what would be the ups and downs?

In real steel, where the barrel is threaded in order to improve accuracy, a tighter barrel would improve your accuracy. With smooth bore barrels like airsoft barrels which rely on a hop up for accuracy, a tighter barrel restricts the flow of air around the pellet, thus affecting the hop up, making the gun less accurate at long range

Bernd Maier is not a warning, it says the brand and the “made in Germany” It doesn’t say “warning: this id not a toy....” it would be cool to have the original thing and if you put the warning, make it engraved.
