"This is the first recording for Bo Weavil by English folk singer Stephanie Hladowski, coming together with regular recording artist, C Joynes. The Wild Wild Berry is a highly individual record that accents both of their respective styles. Chris' melodic beauty is equally matched by Stephanie's turn of phrase. The album contains their renditions of 11 British traditionals, some better-known than others. All the songs were mostly selected from archive recordings at Cecil Sharp House, and chosen on the basis of something unique about the original recording, rather than the song itself. Nothing about the record is a let-down -- the simple melodies and powerful authority make this a recording that one will play a thousand times over".

Bolt not bone. And lordship is one word so it'd be Lordship's wench.

These verses tell the tragic tale of a young nobleman, possibly named Randal, who returns from hunting feeling faint and sick. He asks his mother to prepare his bed as he suffers from the effects of consuming the berries of a poisonous plant, probably the "woody nightshade" (Solanum dulcamara). The verses warn other young men who are well-fed and merry, suggesting that it's better to eat toads than these poisonous wild berries. The young lord soon dies, not from a bone wound or blade, but from the poison of the woody nightshade. The song then takes a tragic turn. The young lord's girlfriend (or perhaps wife) is hanged, blamed for his death. She is described with her hair braided with the poisonous berries of the plant. The chorus is repeated, reinforcing the warning to young men about the dangers of eating wild berries. In summary, the song is a tale of tragedy and warning, marked by the death of the young nobleman from the poison of the woody nightshade and the execution of his beloved, accused of causing his death.

It seems like the movie about King Arthur is bringing some people here. If you like the voice, you can check Stephanie Hladowski, her work with Jonathan Eng is especially good. If you like the guitar, you can check C Joynes : cjoynes. bandcamp. com/

This song is based on Child Ballad #12, the earliest version of which is from 1629. So, not even close to the original :) Just one version of a traditional folk song.

This isn't the original, and it isn't out yet, but I assume by the cover he's referring to the one in the King Arthur trailer. It's amazing. Sadly, the full song hasn't been released yet.
