The material is given as "Steel-Titanium alloy" - the high Titanium would explain the low weight and the low or missing ferromagnetic properties. Intererestingly, the copper is only mentioned in the non-searchable parts (image headers). It's probably an older iteration of the product: with the newer being cheaper with material cost, but harder to process. And the "copper" sound is a marketing terrm. - I'll give this drum a try. Thank you very much for all your patience with the product presentations - I've heard a very little drum player in the background sing along (in another video). You have created an amazing little gem for a channel.

I like how this one has a little more of a hollow sound (almost like a Guda). It looks like a decent drum for the price. It comes in multiple colors too. That's always a bonus. I really like that bag was well. Seems pretty nice overall.

Is there really that much difference between the drum you play in this video vs say like the 14 inch NOVADRUM? The price obviously, but does the novadrum sound that much better?

I just got this drum! I love the sound of this - it is more consistent and resonate better than Hluru's 15 note variety. It's very meditative sounding too! I do wish the low 3 is there, but I guess they needed to remove it to let it resonate better...

Yes, I think the hole in the center as well as the different dimensions of the drum make such a huge difference, and I prefer this sound as well. Enjoy :D

Hey Molly. Thanks so much for your videos. I was considering a different drum that sold out then I found your channel and thanks to you I bought this drum in purple for only $45! I love it so much. I have used a tuner app and all the notes seem right but to my ear they seem a little off, some aren't as resonant and the deeper notes seem to have a "buzz" or metallic sound. How can I fix this? Should I try to fix it? Filing seems risky. Help!

you've really got to put yer back into this instrument. If you even miss one beat, the whole thing goes skewhiff. I don't own myself, but I can play virtually any string or percussion instrument instinctively. I attempted to capture it using a Sony cybershot, but the audio quality is ropey and I don't think it would be a good idea 4me 2 upload the footage. I did use my jazz bands and not the plonkers.

Between the 2 Hluru 14 inch drums, it seems this 14 note one is less "tanky" than the 15 note one. Does one sound louder than the other or have to hit harder to get a good tone etc? Which is your favourite? I'm leaning toward the 14 note with the hole.

Great question! I do like the purple Hluru with the hole better; as you said I think it has a more pure sound. The #3 note in the middle isn't very clear especially.

I just bought a 13" 15 note tongue drum. I am not getting a very good resonance from the highest note, which is a #7 in the key of D. Also, it is a full octive, which I love! But, the note on the top of the drum is slightly twisted and out of tune. I have no idea which side I adjust, slightly open or slightly closed on the other side. The note #3 has three octives, which I love! I appreciate any help you can provide! Thank you so much for your videos! You have helped already 🤗🙋🏼‍♀️🙏

I'm so glad I've been helpful! I don't have much advice other than trial and error.. if the note already isn't sounding, at least you can't mess it up further! I'd try twisting it more closed first, but that's just me. 😊

You can play all the diatonic modes but the 7 modes don't cover all 'tunings'. You can play E Phrygian but by lowering one tung a half step you get E Phrigian dominant 😎 for dessert vibes. Unfortunately not an option with magnets in this case.

Which tongue drum has the nicest "deep" (non-tinny) sound? I thought I would have liked that one, but the tone doesn't sound too vibrant. Is there another similar that sounds deep & has resonance? Thank you.

Hmm, that depends. There are lots of drums with a lot of resonance, but they often sound very metallic because of that resonance. A drum like the Guda Freezbee doesn't sound metallic at all but is quite percussive. I'll link you to some of my comparison videos!

i love that you played a zelda tune. If you're truly interested in these instruments you need to get one made out of a solid propane tank. They are heavy sure, but its a fair trade-off for the increase in sound quality. Try using a very thin piece of cloth (old cardigans are easy to see through) to dampen the notes by stretching it over the top and securing it some way or another to accentuate the percussive sound and decrease the dissonance. You can also press firmly with one hand opposite from the notes you're playing to clean up the resonance these (inferior :P) drums produce

I ordered that exact same drum and got ripped off. They sent me a small 8' drum. They offered a refund, but their cancellation fee along with return shipping to China was more than it was worth, so they got me. Filed a case with PayPal and they were worthless and denied my claim. I should have known. The deal was too good to be true at $69.

Do you find you are limited by a 14 note drum vs the 15 note drum? I am seeing the Hluru brand is good but I can't seem to find their 15 tone drum at a decent price.

Nice smile, nice face, nice movie but ...why You don't play instruments in Your videos??? Only very short presentation of sound...sound is most important part of it? Strange approach...please play a little longer than Your videos will be prerfect...
