That Guy... He ain't no Poser He is the Genuine Art-i-cle! Yup, Anyone that lifts the hood, listens, checks the oil and then smells it, cleans the dipstick off on his shirt and checks it again (and in that order)... That's the guy I want helping me with with any project involving a motor and gear box. Good luck, congrats it may get dark, cold and nasty but then it always gets better and that's the road to realizing your dream!
Love that you couldn't wipe the grin off your face throughout the entire video. I've been wanting one since I was little, as you stated in another video, and now I'm starting to go through the same process as you have documented. Appreciate it!
We call the military units a Humvee here in EU. At least that's how i've always heard it referred to as by most car review people. Problem arises with the Hummer H1. Peeps confuse them. Heck, even TopGear the magazine, called a Humvee a Hummer H1 once (ages ago when they released the H2, if i recall correctly). Either way, awesome video, and good luck on the works :)
Oh and i'm sure you guys will check, but do a check-up on all the donkey d****. If the unit was stationary a lot of time, they might develop splits. I've limited experience with these, but i know a guy who owns one, he left his on stands for a whole year whilst doing some mods on the running gear, the rad hose popped soon after he got his running again.
+aserta Humvee is the pronounceable version of HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) Hummer is the brand under which the H1 (the civilian version of the HMMWV) was sold. Hummer was later bought by GM which also released the H2 and H3 (based on GM truck platforms)
HAHAHA!! I'm planning on buying one of these off govplanet. Really really loved this video!! Infact I liked it so much, I unliked, it, so I could like it again HAHA! PLEASE KEEP POSTING about the humvee!
Interesting video, but also kind of worthless You bought it from Ft. Hood, Texas but what state do you live in and why did it have to be delivered to you on a flatbed? What was the delivery charge for this and how much did you pay for the Humvee? The video shows you start driving it right after delivery....did you get any kind of temporary registration to drive it on the streets? Along with missing headlights, noticed no spare tire or tire rack for it. Are you going to buy these items and if so, what did (will?) they cost you?Looking at buying one myself via Govt. Liquidators which has several dozen in Calif. for sale, with bids starting at $5,000. Thing is, as part of the description, it says they are to be used for off road use only, something I'm going to have to check out as I live in Nevada. So I have no idea whether I can simply drive it back to Nevada or not. I gave you neither a thumbs up or down simply because the only really interesting part of this video was your dog jumping into the Humvee, looking at you as in saying get your ass in here and let's go for a ride! Bottom line is would be nice if buyers of these ex-military vehicles gave more information on what they went thru to get them and paid for them. Then maybe a year later do another video telling people of what's happened since buying it.
I love HMMWV's but I have one problem with them. The huge center console box. It makes the HMMWV only a 4 seater not a 5 seater. AM General sacrificed space over ground clearance
desertmandan123 the VRC/110 or VRC 114 Mount (where you put the radios ) on a typical Humvee goes on a sled mount in the front, right on top of the center mound, and the RF cables to the antennas run under the floor and through the rear wall. The transmission/propeller shafts running up into the body has nothing to do with comms, from a design standpoint. It's just for ground clearance, and to a certain extent to also protect the drivetrain. I'd say the benefits outweigh the negatives. And, they're still a 5 seater if you have a turret ontop.
Gabby Villocillo that "center console box" is where the transmission and propeller shafts etc are, it's not a negative, if anything it's a positive. Still a 5 seater with a turret.
Gabby Villocillo well, not the ideal choice for a family car, it's a very purpose built vehicle. Just get a 152 with a highback, and make the kids sit on the troop benches. Fuck em.
I hope it's more fun and cooler than it looks. I will own one hopefully sooner than later. Hopefully I can convince my wife to let me buy one in 2020 when I get my next lump sum payment from a workman's comp case where I lost my leg as result of a field supervisor that used a 17 year old to work a graveyard shift after working a swing shift after a full day of classes in High school because he didn't want to work.
ive worked on hundreds of them and i dont like them, but they will go just about anyware off road, gov is selling about 150,000 of then since 2016, its now 5/ 2018 and still selling them at gov planet. the market is soft now. and not street legal in california. cant be smoged as is, expensive engine refit needed. i have 53 military vehicles and not one hmmwv (high mobility mechanized wheeled vehicle)
Hummer Guy yeah i know that's whats weird but i think you have to go through some extra BS for making a humvee street legal cause yeah i want to drive it to work
Hummer Guy really so there already and good to go? i take it they must cost more i got 6500 bucks and i can save up 10 grand by the end of the year if i cant get a humvee it snot over i will get one in a few years but am probs gonna get a jeep
