All known footage of the HMS Albion Disaster synchronized and speed corrected.
In 1898, the HMS Albion battleship was launched. As this event occurred, a wave washed up over the makeshift wharf in which 30,000 people stood, causing it to collapse. The footage shown here shows the launch, collapse and the rescue efforts. 38 people died, of which were a 64 year-old woman and a & month-old baby. This is the first known disaster ever filmed and one of the most single filmed events of the 1890s.
