Fell in love with the hmt pilot in my childhood. Got one for myself today from the official hmt website. However quite not satisfied with it. There were finger prints on inside of case back with few specks of dust on gears. Dirt on bezel and a few minor scratches on the crystal. Luminosity is very weak and lasts no more than 3 minutes or so. Though fully wound, stops at will and starts when shaken. Though bought a brand new from official website, guess I need to have it serviced. I also happen to have hmt asha from the 90's,I suppose, of one of my relatives which has had taken a fair share of beat of time and use but surprisingly runs marvellously well. I had the opportunity to open and sneak into it. The quality of material and finish were as good as any seiko or Swiss ETA. Compromise on quality in today's time has become the new normal. Anyways I shall still wear it with pride atleast as a reminder of my childhood if not the quality
What is the chance that private shareholders could restart HMT and put these beautiful watches back on the market as reissues the way Timex did with there Marlin series.Mechanical watches are making a comeback especially here in the USA.
My father bought a hmt kohinoor, in the year 1974, now 50 years gone still keeping the perfect time, my father is no more, but HMT watch is still working, really the"PRIDE OF INDIA".
My uncle gave me one, I dont even remember the model name, but I was so small and playfull at that time that i lost it. I have regrets from that time. Recently i fell in love with these watches and started to know abt their history and now my regrets are high and i feel so dejected. But i'm sure that i'll buy an hmt pilot sooner or later....

Hello sir I just got my hmt blue pilot from their official website and I noticed one thing that after the power reserve is over and the watch stopped if I give it a shake even without winding it, the seconds hand moves for 10-15 seconds and stops again if I shake same thing happens till I wind the watch and it starts to run normally....is this phenomenon normal? Please reply so that I would get an idea if I have to return it or keep it

Greetings Mr Ghosh, Do you have any plan to sell any hmt Pilot or Himalaya watches ? Please do consider me. I have been looking for a long time for a hmt white pilot or hmt Himalaya in the old as well as the new website. I came to know about the Bot recently. But still I couldn't get my preferred ones. Your help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
See, it's tough to tell as they are not measured regularly , but I have found them to be accurate up to +- 10 seconds and more accurate on occasions. As far as I can tell....few seconds doesn't matters much at this price point
I have good working condition hmt watches namely hmt Tarun (1974 model) and hmt Jawahar (1972 model) purchased by my late father. I am very possessive about them.
@@timeloupe Recently I got interested in watches and by the time I could know about quality time pieces, HMT was laid to rest. I was living under a rock, sigh poor me.
