Dug out my JOUEF HO Amtrak turbos the other day - bought them decades ago to custom model, and was thinking, "imagine if Rapido made the Rohr Turbos - how amazing that would be." Then I go to the site, and see them. I hope enough people preorder because these are a great compliment to the FL9s and Comet cars for NY area modelers.

This is practically a modern Zephyr locomotive.

That was a treat to watch this. I rode The first AMTRAK Turbo Liner round Trip From Grand Central Station New York To Niagara Falls New York in 1988! That was my first AMTRAK Train RIDE! it was my first & unfortunately my last time on these trainsets. I've been watching so many video presentations of this beautiful Amtrak 🚄! How i miss them im so 😔 sad they're retired! However i'm glad you're releasing them in scale model! 👋👋👋👋👋

Very entertaining way to drum up orders for the Amtrak Turboliner. Jordan is going to become the New Jersey Amtrak Hobo living on the Turboliner. He'll be sitting by a campfire next to the train eating baked beans from a can. He should have had a stick over his shoulder with a red bandanna pack tied to it when walking through NJ before hugging the train. 🤣 This video made me a subscriber. Rapido has very high quality products. Love the llama cut away! 😁

Awesome, I think I'm going to order one of these! Cool to see the interior of one of the surviving RTL-IIIs but sad to see it in that condition. When Amtrak sent them to Bear, DE supposedly it was for "safe keeping" but in actuality David Gunn obviously never intended to return them to service and allowed them to rot and deteriorate. I did get to ride aboard two of the three completed sets in the spring and then the fall of 2003. Wish I had some video, but at least I got photos!

So happy you got enough orders and this is going to be made! I have to imagine this is the first RTL ever modeled, and I'm not certain even the French RTG has been modeled in either Amtrak or SNCF.

Great train, great video. All that's missing is Janet. Thoroughly enjoyed my travels on the RTL's & RTG's...curious as to how different the tooling would be for the RTG's...

Turboliners were also used on the Adirondack to Montréal Windsor Station. I remember seeing them there before taking the CP commuter trains. I miss those old Amtrak RTLs so much! I used to ride on them when they were operating and not only were they beautiful, but were a smooth, comfortable ride. They did have a considerable number of operational difficulties, as all turbo-trains did. But all things considered, they were an awesome ride and a hell of a lot nicer than those cheesy AF amfleet coaches which are the only things Amtrak offers today.

Amtrak could've kept the coaches in service to be used with regular locomotives. These coaches are more comfortable than the Amfleet ones.
