It is that time of the week again!! It is time to Declutter another section in this hoarded basement!! I share my emotions on how I DeClutter successfully as a recovering hoarder! #home #declutter #motivation
I do papercrafts. If I haven't used the paper in a year, and don't plan to use it this year, I give it to another crafter. I keep maybe 40 pieces of 12x12 and and one pad of 6x6 on hand. All bought at Goodwill or on clearance, of course. You're doing a great job. Remember, there will always be garage sales, thrift shops, and clearance sales. Tina, Al's wife
You have said in a few videos that "later never came"... But that's not true... Later is now! 😁😁 Your progress is incredible and your dedication and positive mindset is inspiring. Great job!!
I wonder if you could use the baby changing unit as a book case or maybe to store some of the fabric cube boxes to organise the kids toys in the basement. Just so it is being reused 😁 another great declutter x
I was here at the beginning before you even showed your face! I watched almost all of your videos you’ve ever made. I truly truly enjoy watching your heal and I may not have the same problems in life that you face .. but you inspire me to take a closer look and learn about myself firing out what make me me!! It’s just crazy How many people you reach in different ways!!
I'm so proud of you. You're like a different person from the one who started these videos. you inspire me everytime on my decluttering journey. I finished the konmari method on my shoes yesterday. It took days and was very stressful for me but...I'm letting go of 27%! I'm still working on putting things away. Thank-you for all you share. your vidoes have made a big difference in my life.
Every day, I find more to toss. The bags that line cereal boxes are good for dirty cat litter. The bags from frozen vegetables are good for dirty cat litter. I also use other small plastic bags. There are so many. Tina, Al's wife
I know, right? I always noticed how it was strategically evaded, to the point that this time I was even a bit anxious to look at Ms Heart go through it.
I know it’s a while off but just wait until you can shop your stash and it’s organized!! You’re going to have your own little store. You’re doing an awesome job!!
Paint pan trick! Put the pan inside of plastic bag and then pour paint on top of that bag. When done just toss the plastic bag and the pan in clean. I can't wait for Xmas konmari! Great job again!
When painting with a roller tray, put the tray in a big plastic bag before you pour the paint, when you finish, take the bag off inside to out and you don't have to spend hours cleaning paint from the tray.
I love how realistic you are. There's a lot of cultural pressure right now to be a total minimalist and not keep ANYTHING for sentimental value. Well, I'm close to your age and all your most sentimental 80s/90s stuff brings me so much joy to see, so I love that you're letting yourself keep those special things. I have very little from my childhood and the few things I do have are not going anywhere! I love that you can make so much progress and still keep special things.
At one point, I had all my favorite recipes in a binder. We were moving to a much smaller place, and wouldn't have room for more than that. I figured out, that most of my cookbooks only had one or two recipes that I would actually use, and I spent a lot of time trying to find them. Instead, I located and photocopied my favorite recipes, put them in the binder, and then donated the cookbook to my local public library friends group for their book sales. It was a joy to have just one place to go for my recipes. I highly recommend using the binder.
Wonderful job lovely lady! The basement will be decluttered and organised before you know it! The way I see it is, my kids won’t have too much to deal with when I die, plus helping them be more organised and find it easier to let go of things that are easily replaced, memories are in your head anyway, people in your life are the most valuable things you’ll ever have, cherish the moments not the things ❤
Those Barbie and My Little Pony toys are so cool! You have all the pieces AND the boxes! That’s neat. And a daughter (or granddaughter) someday would LOVE those ❤️
I used to use a binder for my recipes, but now I use an app called Plan To Eat. It is amazing and wonderful. It's one of my favorite apps, and there is no more physical recipe clutter in my kitchen!
It might be interesting to hear how long you spend doing your weekly basement declutter episodes. At the end of the episode maybe you could say this took 30 minutes or two hours. Just so we get a better sense of time allotted.
I really enjoy watching your progress! So many bags! I have used reusables for years, but have a small stash of plastic for emergencies, I guess. We use potato chip/doritos bags for emptying our litter box. They are going in the trash anyway, and the grocery bags are recyclable. We also use take out paper bags for the freecycling pick ups.
Hi! I also reuse plastic bags for trash bags, have couple of them in my purse and car for shopping and always storing them folded in triangles so it'll take so much less room anywhere. Btw, you are doing awesome job decluttering! All the best miss Heart!
wooow great work!! 👍👍👍👍👍 It's awesome that you have found some Christmas things during this series, so you can include them in the Christmas Konmari. Be proud of yourself, you are crushing this!
I love that you are starting to wrap your mind around curating. It's going to be so amazing when you start strengthening those muscles. Imagine another few years down the line and you are enjoying the curated collections.
Ms Heart ❤️ you are truly amazing 👏 ❤️ 💖 can't wait to see the Christmas delcutter👏👏👏👏👍👍Pepper at the end! Cats love boxes...she adores you. God bless you heaps from N Z
Peeling acrylic paint is super satisfying! I recently found a biodegradable plastic-free "acrylic" paint medium and can't wait to see whether it works the same way in art. I love painting in acrylic, but I hate that it's more plastic that will never fully disappear from the earth.
Your decluttering muscles are getting so strong. I think it's OK that you want to keep hold of significant childhood items. Because now you can recognise the difference between truly important things that hold memories, and things that are just Stuff
I have same tendencies to hold on to things that can be reused. But I've learned the hard way to let go of extras: I have a small kitchen (renter) and we've had mice in 3 main areas of kitchen, they nimbled on plastic zip lock bags that i was gathering, hoping to wash them one day and 2 days ago had to toss almost everything from under the sink, some good extra food from another cabinet, some stuff from garage, bc with a colder weather mice are relying on anything that we have inside warmer places. So for couple of days I have given away A LOT of stuff, so I don't have to think about it and deal with it anymore...
Omg well done on all you got rid of, that was amazing 👏💪 Miss Heart and Miss Pepper the fantastic decluttering team. The space you have is a credit to you and all the hard work of course. I have to agree where has the year gone? I can’t believe or wait till you do all the Christmas decorations again. Happy Halloween 🎃👻🕷🕸 Stay safe and healthy. Mary, Joes wife 👏👍💪🙏💐🐈🦄
I really appreciate your consistency! I am too still decluttering my appartment, but I am struggling to make time for it each week. I found it very helpful to group like with like BEFORE I decide what I keep and what I discard. You are so inspiring! Thank you for sharing!😀👍
December 2023: I keep one (1) cardboard box, it's folded flat, I can retape it. When I have breakables to give away, they go in a box. My crafts are for sale at a local museum. I buy craft supplies at thrift shops or rummage sales, or sometimes I find something free. I did get one item at Michael's two weeks ago. Tina, Al's wife
Your basement series is my favourite thing on the Internet! I look for it every day! I love your befores and afters, but now, I am absolutely going gaga for Pepper - she’s sooo sweet! You have a real buddy in her 🥰
It would be so cool if you could share all of the Christmas decorations you aren’t going to use with people that are just starting out and can’t afford to buy them. You probably have enough for a dozen families. 🎄 😀
Another successful purge. Keep taming the paper tiger eventually you won't have bags and boxes of old papers to deal with. I decided not to buy any Christmas decorations instead just buy gifts.
Don’t you have any nieces you can give your pony stuff too since you have boys? Because they’re not doing any good in your basement. You love them so much you could make another little girl super happy so they have have super happy memories with them too
Wow! Fantastic job!! I bet you can come up with a really fantastic use for the changing table! Maybe to hold some craft supplies when you start on your craft space? 😍
Yes, plastic Bags ❣️ We here in our home, have always reused the plastic bags. If we use them for trash, we still try reusing them all week. We put wet or very dirty trash in the produce bags, keeping the other one cleaner and reusable at least 5 days. Plastic is plastic, they know that, but they want us buying it.
Someone else may have said this already as I haven't read all the comments. I was thinking the 'changing table" would make a great little craft or knickknacks display area. You could tack a sheet of thin wood on the back, use some easy peel wallpaper to add color on it first and then you'd have a nice furniture piece that's nostalgic and useful. Pepper is such a sweet girl with all the loves she gives with the head butts and rubs. Sometime I hope you go through the childhood bins and show what you have.
