Alright, this one is a little out of order, but I get the Hobart Handler 140 all set up. A little unboxing therapy, I like new tools. Also, I look into the Hobart Handler 125 to see what exactly broke on it.

tightening that down so hard is prolly what stripped the gears, couldnt pull wire thru

You should be able to stop the wire. You're running way too much tension. Hence the issues you had with the 125. User error.

Possibly my fault, but I always set the tension by running it through my mig glove, you should be able to slow it down but not stop it with the glove. This is how Jody from Welding Tips and Tricks does it and he has many more years experience than me.

I wonder if you could replace the old plastic wire feeder with the new cast aluminum version, as used on the newer models. They obviously know about the weakness of the old design, if they have changed it over now. Looks like a miller feed mechanism.

Got the same shirt....lol yea having a problem spot welding my old man said he had a problem with it I can weld like hell with it but spot welding not so much 35 gauge wire gas set 28 heat 4 wire 50 leaving a nipple on it mmmmmm so what's your thought?

Wonder why the plastic gears stripped out? Judging by how many cranks he gave on the tensioner after it was already set on 2, id say thats why he stripped the teath on his old one. Not long till he has issues with the new one.

Tension it until the wire slips through gloved fingers without stopping.

I have the 125 and it has bern a great little welder. Yet i do have a small problem with it. The tensioner broke on mine. Just the hinged bolt, otherwise its a pretty good set up.

Mine did that at first too. I used a mini clamp to keep the pressure on the wire.

Good vid. I think Hobart is owned by Miller that's why u received the Miller regulator. I picked up a used 211, but I was close to getting a Hobart. The wrench was worth the view : )

since you have some experience with the 125ez you may have an idea of my problem. my father gave me his old one and it burns through the lining as if the amps are not controlled. any idea? please note this happens no matter what it is set at.

mine does the same thing 135... not sure on the issue... thinking maybe wire speed is contributing too it too much arc not enough wire..

I bought the Hobart Eazy 125 , the wire tensioner did not last long , so I checked my Harbor Freight wire tensioner surprise , same thing . So I beat the crap of my $87 bucks H F welder , and want to buy a better quality welder , and I ended up with a Hobart welder , with a crappy wire tensioner .

Yeah, they suck. But they have to cut corners somewhere in order to not be a $1000 welder.

If the wire is curling downward out of the gun it means you tensioned it too tightly hence broke the plastic gears... Also lefty loosey righty tighty. Stop breaking bolts

I get what you're saying but what direction is it supposed to curl with that much stick out? After some point gravity only pushes things in 1 direction.

@@Ashroyer86 The wire is also curled from being wound on the spool. Tension it just until you can't stop the wire with gloved fingers.

Hey, How's your Hobart 140 holding up? I got mine about the same time. I wanted something that I could also run with my 5500W generator. The Hobart folks were the only one's that gave a definitive answer(yes). For a test, I welded some 3/16" in a T, put it in a vise and pounded it over. Bent it down and didn't break the weld. That showed me it was good enough for anything I'd be doing.

Hey amazing review had a good time watching it ,you are really good at making videos keep on making more :) .btw i had a question for you that i really want to buy this welder but it is 110v and in my country we have 220v outlets how am i supposed to get it working , will a 220-110 converter work ??? Please guide me , thankyou

Can’t go wrong with Lincoln or Miller. FWIW my 140 is going strong
