I'm really glad I found this review. I was seriously considering buying this machine until the part where you talked about having to change settings to use the generator part. I see being 50 or 60 feet away from the truck, welding then needing to grind something and have to walk back to the truck to change a setting and back again to change it back. Thanks for the review.
I never have the chance to own one of those. But I do own a little hobart 140 ... and men!! It's a very good machine ! Get the job done , but my dad used hobart since we used to lived in mexico... it is an awesome brand
I’m glad your having good luck with yours. I bought one 3 months ago and it had the worst arc quality I have ever ran into on a engine drive welder. Didn’t matter what rod I used. Sold that thing after using it three times. Running an ESAB rouge180I off a 9000 watt generator now. A world of difference in arc quality, runs smooth as butter.
I have the old ac version of this welder very dependable. Will not burn 6010s. It has not failed me yet just run ethanol free gas and change oil and plugs. Starting to Peter out though gonna replaced it with dc version
that machine is the best, out the box ,pull running , tried with 70/18 rod .I even had lower the to 110 because it was to strong to weld 1/8 angles.bought it in cyberweld for $2300 without the cables
The most annoying part I found with my old 145 was having to turn the dial up to use a grinder. Which will really make you cuss when you’re on top of something like a round baler and have to get off to reset the breaker
With this machine you would be using 1/8 ROD. 6010 ROOT pass 1/8" and then a 7018 FILL and CAP passes with 1/8". This welder CAN handle 5/32 but it would probably run a little cold and you might not get enough fusion.
Hi I’ve got the same machine. I’m goin on 2yrs with its and it’s been used less than 5 times still new. Problem is now the engine starts but no power or arch?? Any advice would help
