Thanks New Zealand for preserving this set. Very smart to turn it into a tourist attraction. I'd thought they let it go to ruin.

It really is amazing! Something interesting is that it wasn’t intended to be a permanent thing. It was restored for the second trilogy and that is when the idea to keep it maintained and become a tourist attraction. It was awesome to visit a year ago!

My husband and myself went there especially as part of our adventure to New Zealaand. Flew to NZ and came back by ship. It was amazing. The only thing I was really sad about is that Bilbo's house was only a facade like the rest of the houses. I was expecting to be able to go into Bilbo's house. I loved that little house. But turns out it was built in a studio. But the rest was really great.

An Italian guy is actually making a real shire in Abruzzo! It’ll be a bed&breakfast with many festivals and parties and real underground houses… his instagram is @_myhobbitlife_ and I believe in his project

I have always wanted to design my own future summer house exactly like a hobbit hole; it would have one single floor for everything, and it would have a long hallway from the front door with hangers to the left, a bathroom to the right, the kitchen a bit further to the left, a living room in the front right corner, bedrooms a little further to the left from there, and so on.
