Those are called wing roots.lol. think about tree roots and you got it. I really am impressed with the plane! Plenty of reinforcement in the wings. Love the wiring connectors! I agree with lower profile servos on the wings,at least maby some canopy shaped covers,tear drop would do it and not harm anything. 4 C is pretty good,very powerful. Im not crazy about V-Tail systems at all but most radios automatically adjust for those if you set your transmitter setting to V-Tail. I prefer manuals over screw drivers. Not the best trade off. All in all...I may end up with one since my Salto ended up dead. I would have been farther ahead with that plane. Live and learn huh? I think its one to consider if anyone is interested in slope sailing or summer time thermal flying. I finally water flew my Apprentice this morning. It flew so easy it wasnt even funny. I was amazed how easy it flew. I did have an issue with the float rudder servo clevis came off and the plane would only do circles out in the lake. I tryed rescuing it with my boat but ended up having difficultys with the way the boat kept pushing the boat away from me. The batter ended up dead so I had to go rescue them both.

I DO like V-tails :D they look cool & don't get caught on the weeds :) Apart from that, they work just fine.. Yeah man.. no manual, but you Do get a useless screwdriver.. Forging metal.. melting plastics.. The footprint of that screwdriver is far bigger.. Anyway! I'm looking forward to flying it.. It's previous version (Dynamic S) was a very nice plane for sure :)

Looks great,nice review.I fancy one of these,might be worth mentioning how to set brake in esc.
@DutchRC

Thanks Jake :) Ah yes.. I have not checked if the brake isn't set on default.. I'll check/show that in the maiden :)

I have watched the maiden flight, but somehow missed this (it actually just popped up as "new") ? :)....Wow now I really want this plane! It's very cool to watch and learn about the assembly, ESC calibration, and servo trim. I must admit, I'm slightly intimidated as I get ready to enter into fixed wing. It's just a lack of knowledge/experience ...(of which I plan to gain as soon as possible).

It's really nice you are back at flying planes. This plane looks really nice. But I do like gliders, because fast planes only crash when I use them. Only downside to this plane is like there is not much room for FPV stuff inside. I also like multicopters, but almost every RC Channel only displays them. 👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 7 лет назад
Not Every plane needs to be an FPV plane Ernesto ;) There are lot's of other planes much more suitable :) Ah yeah.. there just are FAR more new multirotors hitting the market.. I do try to keep my channel balanced (I've done quite a few airplane video's lately).. but well.. not a Lot of new interesting airplanes..

ps: I lost 10 subscribers today.. So you tell me.. planes? I had expected this plane to be more popular by the way.. They aren't even sold out yet :|

Nice new plane buddy. HK is promoting it as a big seller and popular. Not sure about that but it could be the most exciting release of something from them this summr. As we discussed before not much exciting has been released by HK this year.. Ok looking fwd to seeing this one in the air!
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 7 лет назад
HK's promotion machine has been hard at work on this one indeed ;) It was released a Bit to late realy huh? :) Indeed.. not a lot of exciting new things from HK this summer at all.. But well.. at least this plane should be fun to fly :) Cheers & thanks for stopping by! :)

It looks like it can really haul the mail! I have little screw drivers all over the place. mabe I can use them to save myself out on the ice this winter if I fall through.lol. there is soooo many things you can do with all those screw drivers. the sad part is,I have all the screw drivers that came with RC stuff,but not theRC stuff any more.
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 7 лет назад
Hahaha a part to remember them by then ;) By now I throw these kinds of screw drivers Away man.. Enough is enough ;)

Nice video! maybe place a section of tape over the raised servod so the wind blows over them easy and wont catch up on the sharp raised edges?

Yeah.. I was indeed planning to do that :)

You may be able to order servo covers,look up another plane that has them,go to their parts section and you can order those for your plane even if they dont really go to that plane.

Thank you very much ! Do you think it is possible to assemble the wings twice a week ( for transport ) without damaging the plane ? Like the tubes bindings per example .
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 7 лет назад
Thank You for stopping by :) Well Yes actually.. I can offcourse only judge how Mine came out of the molds.. Just be a Bit carefull, and you shouldn't have much of a problem
@belperflyer7419
@belperflyer7419 7 лет назад
My concern wouldn't be so much about the wing spar tubes (it's not usually a problem in other models) but those 4 tiny screws which thread into the plastic. I've had to modify my Tundra wing fixings because the threads eventually failed and that's a very similar system to this. In fact I slotted the retaining holes so that I don't have to take the screws out every time I remove/fit the wings - just slacken them. Excellent video, as usual. This seems to be very like the Multiplex Blizzard in both appearance and probably performance except the Blizzard flies well on 3S 2200 LiPos. At least mine does. Of course the Blizzard needs a lot more building (lots of gluing the EPO parts) and the basic model needs a motor, esc and servos, so this is probably much cheaper. Be interesting to see the test flight. Thanks
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 7 лет назад
Same thing as on the Tundra indeed.. I must say I generally Never take planes apart after assembly, but the screws are indeed the thing to be carefull with.. Maybe longer bolts & nuts on the other side would work? This one indeed is a lot cheaper then the Blizzard (which I have not had yet).. I guess one could use the Excalibur's motor on the blizard & have that be a 4S plane as well..

Hi Sr. I have a problem with my throttle calibration and I was wondering if it is after the 2 beeps or do I have to wait for all four beeps or may I say wait for all the beep sequence? I'm flying mine on 4s lipo all the time. Can you please help me? I'm tired of trying and I can't seem to get it to fly at full speed, I highly appreciate any input..
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 2 года назад
Howdy Silvia.. do you have the new 2022 version or the old one I have? I really don't know what the new version is like.. In general you start the callibration Before plugging in the battery. (and without the propeller on the plane).. + Set full throttle on the radio.. + plug in battery + wait for tones.. + move throttle to Zero.. + you should Then hear 4 beeps...
@silviavillavicencio2087

@@DutchRC I have the old one or may I say the first one just like yours, I just got mine brand new from a buddy that bought it a while ago and never tried it, he had it still in the original box wrapped as they come, and passed it to me for $80.00 bucks:-). I just watched your video, really good video by the way as all your vids!!,,. So it is after the first two beeps, I did it just like you instructed but still the same, I guess is some thing it has to do with my radio witch is a the spectrum DX6. Do you know if I have to keep the throttle trim All the way down and the throttle sub trim 100%. Or do I have to take it to 150%? I really appreciate taking the time to help me out!!! By the way my wife is your biggest and#1 fan of yours lol actually everyone here in San Diego CA USA at my club loves your vids!!! Anyhow thank you so much for your time and help
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 2 года назад
$80 is a great deal! :D and I must admit I have no real experience with Spectrum stuff... I would think you would want NO trim what so ever.. and 150% sounds more like a "weight" then a trim.. I'd set it to 100% :) Have you tried Reversing the throttle channel?
@mikewhite4628

Hi, Dutch RC. Very nice vid, thank you. What dia are the wing joiners, please? They look like 6-8 mm CF rods (not tubes). It would seem that, with two joiners, the wing may be a bit twisty without them. Are they? I know it`s Xmas Day so have a Happy Xmas and alles die beste voor 2017
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 7 лет назад
Best wishes for the next year for you as well Mike :) In all honesty: I don't have this plane anymore.. NOT that it's a bad plane.. I just can't afford to hold on to all stuff I feature on my channel :$ The wing has 2 joiners, but the wings are allso supported by the plastick they slide in TO.. Surely a full CF setup would be more rigid, but I think the setup on this Excalibur works out well :)

Great vid dutch,.... Hmmm long awaited? by who? we were happy with the dynamic S, BUT WTF is with those servo's! and you skipped over the problem?? sound like they need replacing before you fly! I would replace the esc too, I've had so many esc failures from HK I won't use theirs anymore.
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 7 лет назад
Thanks Chris :D Ahhhh yeah.. HK's promoting machine has been hard at work on this one ;) But I do think people were waiting for at least Something new from HK ;) I have made the transition a bit smoother with a bit of tape by now.. Ah yes.. ESC's.. (and servo's).. I WILL test the plane box-stock though..

Hi, i´ve got mine last Weekend :-) one servo in the vtail is deeper and not solid, you can push it down. Is this normal? What should i do? Thanks and best regards Dietmar
@DutchRC

Hi there Dietmar, Nope.. that is Not normal.. IS the servo in there solidly side-to-side? I think maybe you can add a bit of foam underneath the servo to raise it?

Hey there, thanks for the video. I just received mine two days ago. (my video ill be out soon) I am interested to hear if you had any trouble with your push rods? Particularly adding the plastic retaining clips to the control rods. I broke two of mine trying to squeeze them on. Cheers Michael
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 7 лет назад
Hi there Michael, Hmmm I SUSPECT you then tried to squeze the wrong side of the 'ring' onto the ball.. Did you notice the rings aren't symetrical? :$
@xxMADxMICKxx
@xxMADxMICKxx 7 лет назад
oh no not the ring onto the ball, they went on just fine. The end that attached to the servo arm. It goes in with the 90 deg arm and then it is retained with the plastic clip onto the push rod and stops it slipping out of the servo arm. You must not have had any issues I assume.
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 7 лет назад
Ahh those.. Well they were a Bit fiddly to get on indeed, but no real issue indeed.. A few spare's would have been nice though huh?
@xxMADxMICKxx
@xxMADxMICKxx 7 лет назад
I could certainly do with a couple spares for sure. I have had to implement a temporary fix, but should be able to maiden on Friday. Cheers Michael
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 7 лет назад
Good on ya :) Good luck! I would be fine with simple Z-bends in the control-rods by the way.. that works just fine IMHO
@leephcom
@leephcom 7 лет назад
Regarding the y-lead, clearly that is going to be for the ailerons since you really can't do V-tail mixing with both servos running off a single receiver output, can you :p
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 7 лет назад
That last thing IS true.. But (as HK said in their video's) you can set the tail up to just be an elevator.. Right? Not that I'd want to.. but you Can....
@leephcom
@leephcom 7 лет назад
I guess so... but that would be silly unless you only have a 3 channel radio, AND you'd still have to buy an extra Y-lead. If you had a 4 channel radio you could do it as-is with the ailerons on separate channels, and then you could do differential aileron mixing... woohoo, but you'd have no yaw control, so you're really getting into the realms of stupid doing that, eh!
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 7 лет назад
Ohw don't get me wrong: I don't see why you'd want to be without rudder.. But well.. Like I said: HK itself presented that as an option.. I have to say that a few years back I Rarely used the rudder.. 95% bank & yank :P haha.. Ohw well.. so you think it's for the ailerons huh? ghehe.. I didn't use the Y-lead at all. Handy to have the option of flaps or spoilers.
@leephcom
@leephcom 7 лет назад
Yup, I never use a Y-lead on ailerons either... separate RX channels for every control surface servo. Shouldn't need flaps on a plane like this, plenty of lift at low speed - so spoilers are the way to go since slowing it down will be the main issue on landing.
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 7 лет назад
Yeps.. just a little bit of spoilers work out great on slowing it down indeed.. Maybe flaps would work well when sloping the plane.. But well.. not a lot of slopes in this flat country ;)
