In this first part of a new series, Matt talks you through the first steps of using a new KK2. KK2 available now at: hobbyking.com/h... New USB programmer: www.hobbyking.c...
I'm doing just that, the SK450 was my first quad and in a new mini series, I'm be highlighting my thoughts on the standard deadcat configuration, then following that up with a build and comparison to the new deadcat integrated board for the this frame. First video will be up some time soon. Stuart.
Guys, some of you are saying the audio is poor. I have tried in on several devices and indeed some laptops and mobile phones seem to be much harder to understand than others. I'll repost a version with better audio for mobile devices. Thanks - Matt
Why would you need to do up date if KK2 board has a problem? why update the firmware? Any boards that work that do not needing any thing done extra. Just need one you install and works with out update the firmware.
Thanks for the video. Much appreciated. However a little constructive criticism. I train people in my field and one thing as a trainer I always remember is that I already know everything in and out of what I am doing. The people I am addressing may not. So please be aware of when you are taking things for granted because they are common place for you. I am sure holding up a USB cable needed to update the firmware will result in positive responses to every there at Hobbyking. But holding it up in an instructional video and not Identifying it clearly by part number, name etc. does not help people who are trying to learn and purchase the proper equipment through Hobbyking. "Go there and get it" when we don't know what to search for is frustrating.
Hello Matt, are you using the old listed USB asp AVR Programming Device (PRODUCT ID: 9171000003 )? I now see a link to the new USB device (PRODUCT ID: 381000147 ) , which one are you using in this video, do they both work to update the firmware of the KK2 board? Robert HK PS #4
It has always worked as you describe it for me. I'll mess around with it and check using my own simonK flashed quad. I believe I've always calibrated using the normal process with the props off. - Matt
Hello friend, I made a mistake. I change the brightness of kk2.0 and I ended up hiding the letters. Now I can not see what is written to return behind. Please is there any way to reset the whole plate? thanks for the help, EDUBRASIL
Hi Brent. I will be doing a video on that exact board. It's one of my favorites. It might be later in the month as we'll be travelling a lot, but I'll get to it I promise. - Matt
Hello sir, i built a quadcopter by kk2.1.5 but never flying it because i have facing a problem i.e when i connect battery to the quad and after esc calibration the motors are automatically runs without throttle and also witout arming.....so this is a big strange, what can i do plz help me sir,
Man in comparison to rc planes this is too complicated!!!! I thought my KK2 HC would be ready to go out of the box. Now I see I need a firmware updating plug. Would have really really been nice if you mention that on the actual site when we buy this board. After that I have to get a degree in math, computer science, and quad lingo. This is for the birds. Looks like I'm going to have to go RTF DJI.
I have a dud board too! Just got it the other day, took it out of the box, plugged it in, and blank screen. Completely unresponsive. Back light goes on but board doesn't do anything but light up and the pizo speaker screams away. Seems from what I see these KK2 boards come DOA just as often as they come working. Very poor product. Sad because I really like the Idea of changing settings right on the controller.
Good morning friend! When I called my KK2.1.5 plate she showed a message on the screen and then I could not see anything but you could not help me know q is going on display is on but does not show any messages
My quadcopter just flips and don't even get off the ground i looked at all the settings and calibrated the acc and set all my P and I settings like in the hobbyking kk2 calibration guild , I balanced my battery i tried everything I think my boards a lemon.
Apparently HobbyKing no longer sells the programmer? The link in the description doesn't go to a page containing the programmer and I can not find it by searching the site.
It would be very useful to show how does PI gains are obtained since they will be different for each multicopter, may be is quite hard but it would be very useful.
Has this tattoo of watch because he's done time in prison. If we would get a closer look at it it probably has no face, hands. Because in prison time does not matter.
This has the hallmarks of a Great video, But as I mentioned on Facebook. Please mate, try to keep your voice at a constant level. It takes practice but makes things much easier for people with hearing defects and older hobbyists. I've been in the TV news and radio announcing game for 16 years and learned that when trying to get any message across you don't need to shout but keep your voice at a constant volume and speed Many people will be grateful. Annunciate is the word to remember Thanks.
Sorry, the word is enunciate, as in "make clear" Annunciate is to announce. My mistake. Hey bakerrv, thanks for the mental prod. It seems you think along the same lines. As long as it's accepted as help and not putting him down. It should be a great set of videos. I'll be watching, listening and learning from them all.
tried it more than 10X fast/slow...when i tried it without kk2..with just a servo hub (4 esc in 1 servo plug directly plug into the thro port of receiver) it works...quad is flying...just want to know what i missed why it did not push thru the calibration on the kk2 board
The KK2's are on backorder again.. when will they be available again? Can you do a video on the MultiWii 328P Flight Controller w/FTDI & DSM2 Port. I just bought one because the KK2 was out of stock.
maybe it my computer or my old ears but I can't understand half of what you are saying! enunciate and speak clearly for us old guys and maybe even get a microphone to wear on your shirt please!
please explain how the calibration works for simonK flashed ESC...when i press the 2 end button, full throttle, power on...beep once, then immediately the motor runs before lowering the throttle stick..
Looking forward to the settings of the sk450 because I bought that and the kk2 and use the ntm 2628 motors too, tough with the q-brain esc on 2s nanotech 6000mah and 10x4.5 sf props.
Are you going to show other completly versions like the HefnyCopter2 or OpenAero2 (with a plane of course)? ... might be interesting too. Looking forward to the next parts!
Any idea when the KK2.0 will be back in stock in the USA Warehouse? Its in stock Overseas, but I'd like one a little faster than what I get via "Slow Boat From China". ~R~
Help pleas having problems when I go to flash the soft where keep geting an error that sates (error during setting the fuses not happy with eBay as the one that I ordered was a turnings and got a tottaly different one with the name kv tecnology it is tottaly different in every way posibe it's green not blue has ten pins with an adapter and looks lick a mirror Image of the original as everything is upside down on the board
So have also bean on the hoby King site and it's the same story pearl swing that the only way thay can get it to work is re wiyering it not happy have go and got six kk boards for my dji-f450 and f550 drones so pleas where can I get the do you original board and cable and not a copy as too many companies are falsely advertising copies that don't work properly
I ordered two kk2.1 boards and they both have the same issue. M1 output sends the wrong signal to whatever ESC I plug in. It makes any motor start like the others and then accelerate very fast. This is on a level surface after ACC calibration and ESC calibration. If I plug motor 2 on M1 output, then motor 2 accelerates. If I plug motor 3 on M1, then motor 3 accelerates and so on. I tried everything possible. I reflashed both boards with all the firmwares available many times. It flies but it's very jittery because of that issue. Anybody got an idea? Am I so lucky that I got 2 bad boards?
Bill Tull ok so I put my KK2.1 on my 250 quadcopter and I must say, it flies fucking awesome now. On my 450 I just use my QQ super flight controller (20$) and it is so stable I don't even get a tiny wobble in 25-30mph winds. But I tried the QQ on my 250 quad and it is just too powerful for such a small quad. So I put on my KK2.1 on an anti-vibration plate and it is flying soooo well, I had some Yaw issue when I was giving full throttle at first ( One of the ESCs sent too much power to one motor) but now that I've changed that ESC and cut down the Throttle curve max point to 92%, it is flying so nice. My PI gains: Aileron/Elevator: P gain: 60 P limit: 100 I gain: 50 I limit: 20 Rudder: P gain: 60 P limit: 20 I gain: 60 I limit: 10 Self-Level settings: P gain: 60 P limit 100 Acc trim both at 0 The P limit on the Self-Level is like the Rates on your transmitter, 100 is very responsive so if you want it to be tamed down just lower that number. Stick Scaling: Aileron: 60 Elevator: 60 Rudder: 80 Throttle: 90
This seems to be the beginning of a series of great informative videos! What I'd really like to see, either here or on the HK product's site is a list of recommended setups & accessoires. I'm just about to order an SK450 / dead cat to build my very first multicopter - of course w/ KK2.0 FC. It took me a lot of time to find out which motors and propellers I'm gonna use. To see some suggestes setups for the copter frame would've been very helpful.
+HobbyKing Live What I would like to build is this: - Orange t-six 2.4ghz dsm2 compatible 6ch transmitter w/10 model memory and 3-pos switch (mode 2) - Orange r615x dsm2/dsmx compatible 6ch 2.4ghz receiver w/ cppm - Hercules 500mm Quadcopter (kit) - Hobbyking kk2.1.5 multi rotor lcd flight control board with 6050 mpu and at me 644pa - Hobbyking donkey st3007-1100kv brushless power system combo (x4) - Multistage propeller with dji fitting 10x4.5 black (cw) (2pcs) - Multistage propeller with dji fitting 10x4.5 black (ccw) (2pcs) - Hobbyking quadcopter power distribution board - turnigy 2200mah 3s 25c lip pack - turnigy p403 lipoly/life ac/DC battery charger - Shock absorbing 2 axis brushless gimbal kit for action cam - m200 crab leg landing gear set diy (red) My concerns are these... 1. Will all these components work together to allow me to use the quadcopter as both an Ariel video and a daily flyer? 2. Should I change to an 8ch receiver like the Orange ga800hv 3. What type of battery time should I expect? To get 10min plus should I go to a 4400mah battery? 4. Is the charger listed capible of charging all 3s and 4s batteries? 5. Are these motors and props proper for this quadcopter or what would be suggested? Thanks for your help
This information is exactly what I have been looking for. I have been searching various forums to find the definitive process to update the KK2 firmware and now here it is all laid out in detail. Thank you!
