HK X900 Tricopter - Built with 20 Amp Afro ESC's, NTM 28-26 1000kv motors and 10x4.7 Turnigy slow fly props. In this episode Matt covers a tricopter build as well as yaw PID tuning.
I'm having a problem and cannot find an answer anywhere,I CANNOT get the Board to Arm. I'm building a Tri-Copter via David Windestål's Instruction and Design and It's all ready to Fly, spent more hours programming and trying to get the KK2 to Arm than I spent in the actual build, what's up with that? I'm really at my wits end here, why can I not Arm the Board, I followed the instructions to a T! Not to mention watching Vids from 20 plus others, with no solution yet... PLEASE HELP!
Hello..I´m new on tricopters..i´ve already by the x900..but i´ve a question.. about the radio setups..i now that i need confugurate the expo´s..it´s necessary another setup´s?
Matt, I have built two quad copters, one an SK450 and a tricopter. I have the same problem with all three. I take off fairly stable and tri to hover. Between one notch on the stick and the next I am either climbing or falling with no stable inbetween for hovering. I am using a spektrum 7s transmitter. I have the throtel adjust on the KK2.1 board set to 20 to get all the motors to start at once.
wow very nice job guys.. u r awesome , working every day ,thank you for your time in helping us . i would like to be familiar with this great hobby but i am too far :) .. and be funny all the times :) :) Thank you very much again. have a nice day. Yours Sincerely, Abdalhady
It would be nice if you listed all your settings for this bird with the kk 2.1.5 board. A lot of us are new and there is no manual for this board that I know of. Thanks and good vid over all.
Hi, i really want to get in to tricopter flying and this looks like a good place to start. So i was wondering if you could reply to this message or add to the description a complete parts list, thank you in advance :)
Great tuning guide. I followed it step by step.It all worked well, except I have a real bad oscillation on the ailerons.Back and forth.I tried adjusting it out no joy .I think the board is bad whats your input. Thanks .
That was great l have the same set up and was having trouble with yaw, but now its great thanks Steve. ps' l do have difficulty keeping a steady height while doing FPV ? any sugestions!!
Hi Matt. My Tri has a tendency to tilt backwards when trying to take off full throttle and straight up. Any idea what parameter I have to play with to minimize that?
Great video. I just test flew my HB Y3 fibreglass tri-copter and had all sorts of wobbles going on. Came home and found this video. Now the KK2 board setting makes far more sence. My next flight should have it all sorted. Thanks. UK.
HobbyKing Live I've built my tricopter but I don't know which motor plugs in where. I'm assuming that M1-M4 are were I plug it in but I have no idea which is which. Any help would be great.
Been waiting for the parts from HKing to make one since Dec/2013 Guess shipment lost. HK has not to date resolved my shipment. Looks like fun if I ever get my parts.
Can I get a parts list of all the parts used to build the tricopter. I am looking to build a tri on the x900 frame and the parts used in the video would be a big help
To clarify, according to the KK2.1 motor layout for the tricop motor rotation(prop). . M1= CW--->BLADE1= CW (FL) . M2= CCW-->BLADE2= *CCW (FR) . M3= CW--->BLADE3= CW (BK) all provide lift. . M4= SERVO--->MOTION OPPOSITE TO STICK MOTION(L-R) VIEWED FROM THE BACK.
I want to know the answer to this as well. Seems like mixed reviews. Some sites I've read all 3 props and motors turn same way but the kk2 configuration shows 2 ccw and 1cw
It doesnt really matter, it will fly no matter what direction props you have, but it they are all the same direction, the tricopter will tend to lean in one direction instead of staying level and the tail servo will tilt more as it has to fight the extra torque of the motors. It flies best when the two front props are counter rotating (usually inwards towards each other is my preference) and the tail can be either (it really doesnt matter).
David's tricopter video inspired me to build and fly my tri. This video explains what David didn't though - tuning the KK2 board for a tri. I'm still playing with the settings on my KK2 to get stable flight with self leveling off and this helps.
Thanks for removing the props, though you then went and caught the tricopter. Using the balance plug for voltage alarms and LEDs was a great idea, possible to get some more information on the setup?
Very useful video. Would love to see details on LED setup. I've found a number of confusing instructions and would really like to see exactly how this was set up.
