I dont care what anyone says, Outro: Tear is the best rapline song. It's a literal masterpiece.

Outro Tear was chopped into 3 meanings: - Tear in Namjoon's verse is literally Tear/Sadness - Tear in Suga's verse is Teared into pieces - Tear in Hobi's verse is Fear The rappers did their parts flawlessly. Thats why in chorus, the way namjoon and yoongi pronounce TEAR is different and hobi called it fear. Outro Tear is so Beautiful.. im glad you like it too!! 😊💜

Outro : Tear is all about merciless parting, and its cruelness, and the sadness & anger & madness they feel. That's why they look and sound so serious and angry, and the rapping is very fast and intense. Ofc j-hope doesn't smile while performing it haha :) It has to be very serious and depressed. It'd be weird if he smiles while singing about parting. he doesn't smile everywhere. When BTS is said to be great performers, It includes their ability to deliver the emotion, not just singing & dancing. Their facial expression and emotional acting that look like they're actually in the situation of the song. It makes the audience immersed way more in the performance. When you watch their performance, They look genuinely happy and naturally enjoying it when perform bright & cheerful song, and then look like they're so into it and serious when perform songs like Outro : Tear or Fake love. They are professional performers. Actually the facial expression j-hope made at the end, The lingering look is absolutely genius. He really looks like heartbroken and worn out from pouring out his emotions. It shows how much he immersed in the character.

JHope is the absolute APEX of this song (especially live!). His bars feel like actual bullets to the chest, ripping you apart. You 100% feel his emotions, the pain, the suffering, the desperation, yet his acceptance that this is where he has to be (in line with the story of the song)

2:54 In RM's verse the word Beer is pronounced Beeyo in korean and that pronunciation of the word also means becoming "empty'' and 'being cut' which is why it is so genius that RM says "At one time you were my dear" and follows it by " Now you are merely a bitter beer" followed by "My heart is stained (because beer stains, and people tend to drown their sorrows in drinks after a separation) with belated self-loathing and empties out even the wind that passes by." Now that last line could also be flipped, and translated as "My heart is stained with belated self-loathing and gets cut by even the wind passing by" because remember 'empties out' in korean also sounds like 'being cut' and so the last line has two meanings. One is that "i hate myself so much that I try to become numb/empty my heart out by drinking my sorrows away" and the other is "I hate myself so much that every little thing hurts me/ my heart is so sensitive that even the passing wind cuts into it and hurts me". 3:08 'the old and shabby friends inside of him' that he mentions. In a previous song called reflection (which you should totally check out), RM has called 'fear' a friend that comes and holds his hand especially when he drinks. And in the chorus, you can clearly hear them say 'You're my fear" and J-hope's verse is all about the fear that comes with parting/separation. 6:06 , SUGA tore apart the word tear, T. E. A. R. and also it would stand for The, End, And, Result/reward (remember in RM's verse he said that parting was the reward he got from at the end of his play of lies), so parting is the end and the result of the lies/deception both towards the other person in the relationship and to himself because he was also lying to himself. Oh and he continues to say that tears to him are a luxury which implies that he is at fault in the relationship/ he feels like he is the one to blame and has no right to cry about, which is why he wants it to be over with completely so he can't reminisce or regret or think back on anything (in J-hope's verse he talks about fearing the flashback moments/memories that come with separation/parting), he wants no ashes left (ashes in this case meaning reminders of the relationship. 9:06 "our end came in two characters" this line is very clever as well. the two characters he is talking about is in relations to the word tear and parting because both words in korean are written in two characters phonetically Tear is written "티어" and parting is written "이별 but it also refers to the fact that the two components in the relationship are no longer a unit and broken apart they are indeed two characters. This song is a pretty complex song, and heavily hinges on the guilty feelings one has during a separation, now it can be between lovers or family members or friends or even you and yourself because through this whole entire song they used gender-neutral pronouns, it was neither a 'she' or a 'he'.

You can understand the title "Tear" in both ways. At the chorus, RM uses "tear" as a noun, SUGA uses "tear" as a verb - so that you can hear him pronouce that word as a verb, and with j-hope, "tear" turns into "fear" - an adj. BTS rapline showed us 3 ways to define "break-up"

RM’s verse compares parting to a tear that flows from his eyes. In Suga’s verse, he compares it to the pain of being torn apart. And in J-Hope’s verse he talks about the fear of repeating that cycle of love that ends with both tear and tear. Even the chorus uses all 3. You’re my tear, tear, and fear.

I am so, so pleased you took time to react to this masterpiece:-) The song is absolutely incredible and this Hobi-in-Dior "Tear" from Wembley live version of it is simply spectacular. Suga is my ultimate bias and always will be the only one ( for variety of reasons stretching beyond realms of music) but this song is without a doubt Hobi´s moment to shine and commend:-) What I love so much about this song is it´s brilliant break down of every break up complexity as delivered by each rapper - when I listen, what I hear is how RM depicts disappointment and need to understand "why" it happened, Suga expresses anger, bitterness and surrender, J-Hope raps his heart out expressing pain and heart ache.

The genius of the rap line is shown throughout this song but it’s really summed up in Hobi’s last verse!! They talk about parting or leaving someone like a tear both as like crying tears (RM’s verse), being torn (Yoongi’s verse), and as fear and both of the other meanings (Hobi) if you read the lyrics with that in mind the depth of the song becomes that much greater👌🏽💜 best rap line to exist period.

they actually pronounce “tear” both ways in this song. both meanings are present. in the chorus rm says “tear” as in crying and the suga follows him by saying “tear” as in ripping. in the very last line hobi says “tear TE-AR” the first one being ripping and the second being crying

i was at this concert..it was june 1st last year, it still feels like a dream lmaoo. they were set to play at twickenham stadium in july this year for 2 nights but it’s obviously going to be postponed :( but hopefully you could go to those concerts when they finally get to happen !! also after this performance of tear they all went straight into mic drop and then they go off before the encore, idk how they do it ahaha

J-Hope sings a good bit in Spring Day but you have to see it live to really appreciate it. Suga doesn't sing that often but his vocals impress me every time he does. The two of them have a sub-unit called Sope or Sope-Me and a song called Otsukare that they sing in concerts in Japan. You can find live videos of them or lyric videos, but I recommend the live. It's meant to be comedic and it's just the two of them singing. No rap and it shows Suga, in particular, in a whole new light.

Recently in their break the silence document series, yoongi mentioned that "the lyrics for "Tear" were written for the members. When I was writing the melody, at the time, we were deeply contemplating whether we should quit or not. When I played the song for the members, we all cried together" 🥺🥺🥺

In RMs behind story of the making of the album he explains that he playfully uses the word tear to have both meaning. Firstly tear as in crying and tear as in ripping paper. This is part of RMs lyrical style where he likes to use double entendre.
