4:32 the two pad eyes you snapped caribeaners to are for the back seat straps... NEVER DRILL HOLES INTO THE KAYAK DECK! The silicone is useless and turns yellow. If you must add pad eyes, put them on the gunwales (gunnels) at least a few inches above the deck. Spray paint won't stick to the plastic for long and you'll get paint chips on everything. Trust me I did this a while back. "Map Pockets" Props on the @finfactory sticker! Nice set up!

I agree except for when it comes to the 2019 Outback like somone already mentioned... man this yak is built and just might be best to date and I am not a huge Hobie fan. For me being in a landlocked state the Yak classifieds are few and far between so buying new is alot easier and quicker. With that said, I am still on the fence debating a 2017 Camo Outback with Square hatch, Hook2, Boondox landing gear, Hobie Livewell, rod holders, camara mounts, fishbag, and PFD for $2200 or getting a new 19 for $2799. Decisions, Decisions.....

Sarge's Adventures to each his own. I’m a saltwater guy there are already lots of reviews showing up where the new outback takes on water through the front hatch. One the honeymoon phase off they are all just floating hunks of plastic that all do the same thing. Some maybe a little better than others but to me it’s all about getting a good deal. @@SlotCityFishing Yea, I seen the taking water vids, there is like 6 or 7 of them on YT so far. No saltwater here, it will do fine in Missouri lakes and rivers but, again I am still debating on this used 17 setup vs a new 19. Thanks !!

I like the way you mounted the transducer opposite the anchor trolley so they won’t interfere with each other.

William Christensen thanks brotha. There is a video by a dude with a channel called kayak hacks that made that mistake. I basically copied him. The gray yak was setup similar but the transducer was fixed in the forward part of the hatch with magnets. I just copied it really. Thanks tho man glad you enjoyed the video.

By me, used hobies go for only a few hundred less than a new one. Better to get a new one with a warranty. Your advice will be regionally specific.

Great video. Dang man. $200 for any Outback is insane. My Outback was a demo that stayed on stands for a few months. The money I saved, I used to rig it, but I went a little overboard.

I have a prowler but me and the GF took a trip down the natural springs in Florida and shes really into kayaking now so I've been looking for 2 hobies or a tandom hobie and the price is crazy..

gsppuffer do not get a tandem bro! I just looked on Craigslist in Houston. Theres a 2012 outback for 1400 bet he'd take 1100-1200 if you offered. You gotta be relentless about it. I got a 2014 PA 12 with fish finder and other accessories for 1200 bucks. I drove 2 hours and bought it within hrs of him posting it haha
