Have a roll of a 3ft wide carpet runner (carpet on top, rubber mat on the bottom) that you keep stored with the Lynx for when you throw it or other yaks in the back bed of the truck, basically you roll it out (carpet facing up and the rubber side down) and then slide the Lynx in. Done! No more truck bed rash!

Thanks for making! I'm rough on my things and just got this delicate flower so I bought the skid plates and a few of the other helpful items you made. Did a couple other things to try to military grade this thing as much as possible.

I'm pleased with my Hobie lynx. I carry it on a ladder rack . The light soft material is what makes it light. As for the keil mine got scratched up so I put gorilla tape on it, surprised how tough that stuff is. I got a sheet of kydex same color as the kayak so it shouldn't look bad when I get around to installing it the kydex. 060 was $ 10 for a 12x12 sheet desert sand color.

I've had mine about a year now ...or longer... I had some significant wear at the front from coming into concrete, shell, and metal grate ramps. I had a single finger sized puncture what I am sure was from a Mango root or stickup. and some other scrapes along the edges. I double epoxyied the scrapes and thin spots. I then added keel guard along the front center line and the back edge lines. Seems good to me and I was surprised it wasn't worse. I'm really tough on equipment. I'm happier now than before I looked and repaired. All good. Going out in it tomorrow.

100%. It’s a great kayak it’s just a bit to heavy for me these days. I’ve moved a few kayaks around and enjoy how easy this thing is to get in the water.

Nice, ...I was thinking about uadding a lynx to my arsenal, with durability the concern. Now we know they are good.

I’m a fan of the Lynx. It’s not as durable as a traditional kayak but I haven’t had any problems.

I don't see any issues. I think every other kayak is going to have rashes and scratches from loading/unloading and launching/recovering. I know my PDL sure does. It does hurt a little since it's not a cheap tool but in the end, it's still functional and not meant to be a beauty pageant show piece. Thanks for the review. I think that answers a lot of questions that a lot of people have about the durability! --Brent

The pitting of the surface is probably the cooling temperature of the mold was too cold to achieve faster cycle time. I don't deal with thermoforming. I do Injection, Rubber and Blow molding. I have a cheap Lifetime Tamarack Pro. It's cheap blow molding compared to higher quality Jackson which is roto molding. Seems to me thinker thermoforming requires longer cycle time which costs more. A blow molding has about 7 minute cycle to make plus labor for secondary assembly.

Looks like my decision to buy a Lynx just gets better. I wonder if a person could/should coat the bottom with Flex Seal.. That stuff wears like steel., and would not hurt the pickup bed.

Can you make a old town pdl for flippers instead of the original pdl propeller so it could be universal.

Hey Nick, I’m a Lynx owner and love it except for one thing. I fish inland lakes in northern Wisconsin. When we get a wind we get a chop and that chop creates that ANNOYING bow slap that I’m sure the fish hear also. What are your thoughts about having made an adhesivly secured bow piece that would slice the water instead of the flat slap. Think of it as a Burly bow protector on steroids. I know it would affect performance, but my priorities are minimizing bow slap and fish spooking. What are your thoughts, and who would make this? My wallet is waiting. Thanks

I’ve got a Lynx on order and would like to hear your thoughts and solutions on repairing bottom damage. I’m not really clear on the actual material used so I’m not sure what to use for a lasting repair. Maybe a keel guard would be advised for a new boat?
@NavarreKayakFishing
@NavarreKayakFishing 2 года назад
There’s nothing wrong with a keen guard and it’s a smart option if you’re worried. It will protect your kayak.

The reason that the price is so much less is simple. This material is so much cheaper. Get a rotomolded Hobie if you want one to last.

Majority of people I know baby their toys? If you don't toss it around like out friend here. I'm sure it would last 10 years. In 10 years so many things can happen. Why worry what if? In the past I baby my stuff . ..guns, camping gear, shoes, dirtbike ( yes, that too🤣🤣🤣) etc. When time to sell? The new owner got a bargain. Enjoy it & don't worry about losses. You only live once, stop preserving stuff. I'm 63 now
