Great sailing trip. Most TI sailors are trying to avoid the splash and spray while you guys are enjoying it. Outstanding.

Wonderful sail. Glad I am not the only TI sailor who likes to stick the Hobie TIs into stiff winds and swells. Glad you did not have to sail upwind in those offshore sea states. Your crew is a keeper for putting up with the wash in the splash seat. Keep her close! Keep the videos coming! ⛵⛵⛵

Thanks @seewind - I subscribed to you - some great footage there. We have sailed upwind in those conditions - takes a while to get anywhere - but always fun and an easy ride home!

Looks like a cold wet ride. But fun. I had a TI in Brazil. Was good until the rubber parts deteriorated and broke down in the hot climate. It always felt too heavy for a single person to run up the beach even with a trolley. Now I would rather have a Hobie Wave.

Nice video! I have the single-seater version, the Adventure Island (AI). Well, actually, I have 2 AIs, but I only sail one at a time... I love the boat, but the one thing that I don't like is when the nose gets buried, and I saw that happened to you a few times. I've installed a custom jib on a bowsprit, and that puts it at just enough of an angle to lift the front slightly, making those nosedives a lot less common. The Hobie spinnaker has a similar effect, but it's only useful downwind, more-or-less.

@@WestCoastOutdoor thank you for the reply. That is not the end of the world. Some owners are getting a whole lot, more water than that. Have you made any modifications to the seals on the hatches or left them as standard?

Haha, only a Hobie owner would ask that question. I too am wondering the same as to how much water that main hatch let in. I would also add, if you have not done so already, learn how to right that thing if it inverts. Going out in that kind of sea state it is a matter of when not if that downwind pin decides to pack it in and your ama folds in. Sea state like that is not the place to be trying to figure things out. But man, that looked like a lot of fun. Did you get any speed recording on some of those wave surfs you did?

Hi @@buzz6775 - again, 2-3 liters of water! This was a tame one compared to some of the conditions we've been out in over the past 15 years in all models/versions - re-righting is only hampered by the tramps (and shallow water!!) I have used the oh S*@T cross lines on the AMA'S before, but if you notice right hand is always on the sheet line to de-power the sail in a heartbeat! Didn't have a speed recorder on this outing - but have just managed to break 15kts on occasion!

It uses the MirageDrive system so it can be self-propelled if there's no wind or if you just want to get into a better position to sail. I have a Hobie Revolution 13 with the sail kit and it's great.
