will probably come back and watch multiple times but it’s been so cool to see how you use the hobonichi cousin! i’m in the avec cousin and am enjoying it so much-i think it’s a super great format that allows for a lot of personalizing but also just enough structure where it doesn’t feel like a chore to maintain. your page spreads are so clean and neat, and those pet tapes are adorable!! hope you’re having a good week ❤

I am so glad you're enjoying the Cousin. I really like how you have the dailies set up for your journaling too. And thank you again for mentioning that you got yours on sale; I've been using the Techo for almost two weeks now and I *love* it! I also am not bothered at all by the Japanese elements; I've actually been taking crafting paper and ripping or cutting it into small pieces and covering the bottom of the pages to add a pop of color and also chunk the notebook up a little bit. Normally I like to have a lot of space to fill in with larger planners, but obviously that's changed because even for a book as small as the Techo, it's not TOO small for me. Have fun shopping the sale!

I love seeing you on a hobonichi cousin. I use hobonichi cousin since 2017, what made me move to hobonichi was that I got tired of making bullet journal spreads and hobonichi has everythng. Now I use only for journaling and its really nice to see how u are using yours. As for 2024 line up, every year I buy mina perhonen zipper cover, but I didnt buy it last year as it was very similar to the year before which would be very boring to use the same color another year in a roll...however, the zip cover this year is a very nice tone of yellow so I am thinking of buying it. As for the cousin I will buy the HON with the flower cover, I really liked to see the A6 last year and I wanna try it out for myself, if the HON doesnt fit in my zip cover is not a problem as I also use A5 notebook as planner/common place. If u ever decide do buy a zip cover for ur cousin I suggest buying the cousin avec, from my experience with writting and stickers the cover will no longer fit the cousin and close the zipper around march to be exact (but i like to add a lot of decorations) I always bought the avec, 2023 was the first year I used the cousin full year as I didnt use the zip cover so its ok if he gets really fat haha I love ur videos please keep them coming.

The Kubota Weeks is soo pretty so I’ll probably get that even though at first I thought I’m gonna opt out of Weeks for next year. I’ll be getting the Makino A6 Hon as well plus gonna try the weekly supplement if it will work for me. I’m kinda hoping you get tempted to buy a Weeks and an A6 too lol.

I just got my hobonichi techo and I love it but I wish it had the weekly too . I ordered the cousin so I’ll see which I like more I love the size of the techo so I’ll see I think I’ll like the cousin more just because I can keep my planner and journal together

Great video. you have to check out galen leather covers. Handmade thick raw looking narly leather covers. If you get one of the colors that says crazy horse, it's a less processed leather that scratches and heals and changes and seems alive. I have an a5 an a6 and a travelers notebook by them. I just ordered another a6 from them. It's 30 freaking dollars. It's a steal. They smell terrific. Ps travelers by galen is better than the real deal, wider for no overhang and with 4 bands.

Love how you’re enjoying the cousin! I’m still loving mine and will likely be getting another one for 2024 as well. I was so excited to see the Tomitaro Makino designs on the last day. I’m getting the A5 pencil board, but am still deciding if I’ll be getting the HON. I was completely set on it until I saw the back of it. I don’t know why it bothers me that the picture cuts off on the back, but it does 😅 I’m also tempted to try the A6 as I’m doing the opposite of you and likely separating my work and personal books next year. I don’t love the idea of maintaining separate book, but I think it’ll make my life easier. I’m glad we still have time to decide! 😅

Really love how your ephemera is spaced out throughout the dailies. Not overwhelming but still adds a lot of personality. Also the tip of clipping extra paper from a hobonichi supplementary notebook is great and I ALWAYS forget about it!

Love the minimalism and beautiful simplicity of this! It looks like you've got some lists written on daily pages - are they things you aren't writing on the weekly pages, or is it a double up of list items in some cases?

I just bought my first cousin. It’s an A5 but it seems so much smaller than the one you have.

What about a HON with a HON cover? It comes with a pencil board with pen loop.

I just wanted to put a different planner option out into the air for you: the Sterling Ink Common Planner. It’s everything I love about the structure of the hobonichi without all of the unnecessary bits and pieces (quotes, back pages, colors on the pages, etc). For 2024 she put out A TON of size and color options and did a preorder a month or so ago. They are not available for purchase as of right now but last year for 2023, she put out more planners for sale that were ready to ship after she had shipped everyone’s preorders. I missed the preorder this year so I’m impatiently waiting for her to hopefully make an announcement about putting more planners out for sale!! But yeah, hate to tell you about it when it’s not available right now lol but it’s such a lovely planner, I needed to let you know so that you can be on the lookout!

I’m thinking of picking up an A5 notebook to try it out, before committing to a cousin, plus their A6 hourly layout booklet. I’ll most likely use a Weeks again for my health planner, although I really don’t love the darker cream paper. Do you know if the Hobo Cousin has a lighter cream paper than the weeks? I might pick up pencil boards in the botany line.

I might still have my travelers notebook style pen loop laying around if you want that. Just let me know. If you want to try another ink color Diamine Green umber is a really nice color. I have some cartridges that I use in my refillable fineliner and can highly reccomend. I plan on buying some empty cartridges and a ink syringe to use my other inks in it.
