Before Celebrini, Dickinson, and Will Smith, there was Falloon, Ozolinsch, and Whitney. huge shoutout to all the clip makers on youtube, Vindiggs and RussianNHL had some many great clips. If you enjoyed this, follow our X: @bigheadhcky
Disclaimer about some smaller things we missed in the edit: - Damphousse is pronounced dom-phoos, not damp-house. We kind of pronounced it right at the very end... but... a little late for that. - Irbe is also pronounced Ir-bay - We said Vernon won the Conn Smythe in 1995 as a precursor for when he joined the team but he actually won it two years later, right before he joined the team. Our timeline was a little messed up there. - at the end, we showed a photo of the "missed goal" from Calgary. But guess what guys, that was actually a much newer photo from a Ducks-Flames game in 2015. That's our bad but you know what... it's actually kind of cool how similar it is to "the save" from 2004 so we'll call it cannon for now. If you guys notice anything or catch anything else, let us know! We tried to keep it as accurate as possible but there were so many moving parts with the dates and timelines that some things managed to slip through the cracks.
The California Golden Seals never played in the Cow Palace. They played at the Oakland Coliseum. The San Jose Sharks did play at the Cow Palace in 1991-93. However the Seals never played any games at the arena.
Also worth noting, is you state that San Jose finished the 1992-93 season one win short of the least wins ever. This is not correct. In a minimum 70 game schedule, the Washington Capitals finished with 8 wins in 1974-75 in 80 games, and the Winnipeg jets finished with 9 wins during the 1980-81 season.
ive been a sharks fan for as long as ive been watching hockey here in Brazil. As youcan imagine there was never a lot of hockey coverage in television and i think this video might have changes my life. Thanks for making this video i never knew Teemu played for us and it was so nostalgic seeing the names of the players from when i started following hockey!
@@cardiac19 all because of my brother! he went to the US for a year in HS and came back addicted to NHL 06. he would always use the Sharks and i thought the logo was the coolest thing ever, been a fan ever since! but the first game i remember watching was during the 2011 playoffs (we REALLY dont have any hockey on TV), Setoguchi scored the OT winner against the Red Wings
Mike Vernon did not win the Conn Smythe in 1995, Claude Lemieux did. Vernon won it after the 97 Wings Championship run. Also, PLEASE do more videos like this for more teams, this is seriously an awesome potential for a series.
Ah great catch, there's a couple little things like that we noticed just before posting but weren't sure how to re-edit or re-frame the video at that point. We'll add a disclaimer about that and some other gaffs we made on the details! appreciate the support! we're hoping to turn this into a bit of a larger project!
The world needs more quality hockey RU-vidrs. Respect the current events guys, but the long form storytelling is the kind of shit we need. The editing on this was fantastic and the pace of the video was perfectly chaotic. The grifflix vibes are kinda nostalgic. Excited to see what else you’re going to do soon. Already subscribed
From someone who started watching in 95 (Ray Whitney in double OT vs. CGY) - this is a great video! I will forgive the many weird last name pronunciations 😂Made me nostalgic. Great work.
this is the type of hockey content my hockey history loving zoomer ass CRAVES man. i was considering making it myself but im subbed as FUCK now this is huge
I was looking for a video like this! Coming from Baseball as a disappointed A's fan, its nice to catch up on the history of the Sharks jumping into the excitement this season.
Technically the Seals/Barons aren't the most recent team to fold, it's the Coyotes, since Utah is designated as an expansion franchise that just purchased the players/management from the Coyotes.
Those Vancouver Sweaters are fire 🔥 🔥🔥🔥 They get so much Flack but look so sleek on the Ice. maybe because thats the way i remember they when i was a Kid watching hockey growing up. Ozolinsh was one of my Favorites in Colorado
Those losers are about to bust out of the loser category, Grier has done amazing job so far and will be back as contenders for the 25-26 season and i don't think it takes that long from there, for them to take their first Stanley Cup.
Your wrong get your facts straight the Seals played in Oakland in the Oakland coliseum arena id went to plenty of games there in the 70s easy to do your research
No they aren't, the team was sold and moved (which isn't folding).... even Cleveland folding is a misconception since the team was merged with the Minnesota North Stars. In fact the real last team who folded in the NHL was the Brooklyn Americans in 1942. A team folding is something you won't see anymore, unless a league stop its operations, because an owner will just sell to get some of his money back.
is San Jose Sharks worse than Florida Panthers? Ooof. I mean Florida finally won their first cup but it was a rough ride until ~2015/16. Panther since 2003 here, from far away in Sweden.
Fun video, buuuuut... You drive me crazy with your pronunciation of Damphousse. It's not "Damp House", it's "Dom Foose". Also Irbe is 2 syllables. And thanks for the Lecavalier reminder 😢 Though in all fairness, we probably never do the Thornton deal if we have Lecavalier.
Great video, but it's rife with name pronunciations: Ricci [Ree-chee] Gary Suter [Suit-or] (unlike Darryl Sutt-er] Irbe [Erb-Ay] Bob Errey [Eh-Ree] Larionov [-on-ov] Damphousse [Dom-Fooss] Marcel Goc [Gotch] Michalek [Mi-holl-ek]
we watched a bunch of old tape, looked on old forums, and asked the Sharks subreddit their opinion on a lot of the older players. then we designed them in photoshop hoping that the presentation makes it a lot easier to understand and compare their success era to era!
Yo Auston Matthews is this generations greatest bust, Almost a decade in the show and all he's done is win a single round in the playoffs, And Let's be real no Olympic or world championship team he's on will ever beat the Juggernaut team Canada's we have coming up so it's most likely he'll never win a championship of any kind in his whole career and if that doesn't make someone a bust then I don't what does.
Correction, most successful loser are the Leafs that can't go past the first round, successful seasons, losers in playoffs. Imagine working your ass off every season to be one of the top teams in the East to show nothing for it in the playoffs. At least the Sharks have deep runs.
Fat Balloon. That’s some lame stuff to call a guy who broke into the show and went high in the draft. Sometimes peoples ambitions don’t pan out but, we don’t go to the mall and slap the hotdog on stick out your hand 20+ years later.
Great video but we all know how Celebrini ended up in Sharks, they tanked the last season, just like every damn draft there is. That´s why the nhl is a clown league.
First time watching sports? Name a league where the champion gets the first pick in the draft.... it's pretty standard to have the worst teams pick first... y'know to help them become competitive? So we don't have the same team win 5 years in a row like the 70s and 80s? Any of this registering?
